Either way, they said it was a wheel bearing failure from what I've read. Not impossible. Improbable.

There's a video where a security camera caught the train passing where a car APPEARS to be on fire on the bottom of the car. That was 20 miles before the accident.

I don't want to look it up to find it, and honestly given our intelligence agencies, I wouldn't be surprised if it's a faked video just to sow confusion about the whole thing.

I don't really want to die on this hill though. Our infrastructure sucks, and our government has betrayed the population.

Going to have to disagree again. At least here in IL. Our roads and bridges aren't perfect. They're way ahead of other nations. Just because we don't have high speed rail doesn't mean it's shit. Our freight rail is probably 2nd to air travel in safety.. This literally is what my wife does for a living. People from across the globe come here to learn about our infrastructure. Americans just bitch a lot about it so we tend to think it's shit. It's simply not.

We have too much land mass, so we don't have what Europeans have with regards to trains. We don't need it either, too slow even high speed. Given the land mass we're experts on engineering the stuff we need. Even with high speed I'm in St. Louis from Chicago in an 45 min on a jet. A train with stops going 220mph is still 3+ hours to St. Louis. Both options you'd have to drive and park so that's not a valid point.

We're a self deprecating nation. Real estate and infrastructure are two topic I know better than almost anyone active on this forum. I spend hours studying it and learning about my wife's work. I meet and know the people that build it all. There are NOT active train tracks like the ones shown in the video. 100%. The video is a fake or not in the US. Even then I'm skeptical it's foreign.

What's it called, deep fake or whatever? You can take my image and voice and make me say what you want on video. Taking a still image, tossing a train on it is something a high schooler could do. The image may be real, but it's physically impossible for a train to stay on that track. It's superimposed.

Not talking about trains.

When I say infrastructure, if we went to war with China, we'd be fucked. Look at everything around you, what was made in this country? Our education system sucks. Chicago is a freaking gangland. Our electrical system and water system hasn't been updated in decades.

We don't need high speed trains, I'd agree with that. We're too corrupt as a nation to build them anyhow. Project is planned, money is stolen, it eventually gets shut down.

I doubt the rail line is that often used, but I wouldn't be a BIT surprised if that's a real rail line. One of links I gave you just has a collection of shitty rail lines.

Palestine Ohio is dead, I'll bet my left nut that the homeowners at best get a token amount of money, and the rail road doesn't suffer any serious consequences.

We just spent 2 years poisoning people with vaccines that don't fucking work. That's our country.

We are so goddamned bankrupt it's not funny.

Which could have been from anywhere. Could be the US, from 1970, that's 50 years ago. 1:29 in that video look at the car in the background. That is NOT 2012. I don't care about rail lines from 50 years ago. That wasn't 2012 or 2023. We do sell train engines to other countries as well. Grass growing just means it's a one off branch use maybe monthly for one industry. Doesn't mean it's dilapidated or non-functional.

China isn't a problem. Our major infrastructure is built in place. Concrete materials, asphalt, oils, etc. Steel would be the only thing, but most modern bridges are concrete with rebar prefabbed and dropped in via crane. This is in Wisconsin. Check a manhole cover walking around even in CA. You'll likely see Neenah, WI on it. https://groupnei.com/

Concrete: https://www.prairie.com/en-us

I'm 12 minutes from a quarry that does gravel for the region and mixes asphalt there. Again, all American.

If you're worried about cheap Chinese toys, I could understand. My uncle had massively huge contracts with Caterpillar here in IL. I'm not talking out my ass. I know the industry. I don't want to dox myself. My wife will be a national figure at some point. I've fucked around to much here for it to ever be found so I tread lightly. Send links all day. I know what I'm talking about on this topic.

To elaborate, do you think China is reporting their freight train derailments? Answer, no. Guess who doesn't show up to the national conferences for infrastructure.... China. I've met people from most European nations, Australia, SE Asia, Brazil, etc. They are NOT going to China for infrastructure tips. Demographics are the mitigating factor in all of this. Much of the world is fucked. We need to navigate the shit storm that's coming in a global economy. China doesn't want war. They'd have Taiwan by now if they could or wanted to.

East Palestine Residents Are Breaking Out in Rashes

Locals who live near the train derailment and release of toxic chemicals near East Palestine, Ohio, have complained about various health problems since the incident unfolded earlier this month, including rashes, headaches, and other issues. And they’ve expressed concerns that these new symptoms may be tied to the chemicals that were burned or released.

Also, railroads do constant maintaining of even the stones below the tracks, let alone the rails.

Who specifically? The workers who almost went on strike due to shitty conditions? And why would we expect the rails to be any better maintained than the trains running on them(sparks 20 miles before crash)?

Staying there is a mistake. They should self-evacuate whatever the cost. Waiting on the government to do the right thing is never a winning strategy. Dureng the actual Chernobyl disaster the CCCP government insisted that people should participate in May 1st festivities 4 days into the thing and only started evacuating children in 3 weeks later.

The Chernobyl disaster happened on April 26, 1986.

Pripyat was evacuated on April 27, 1986

Started watching White Noise, the netflix movie that apparently "predicted" this. And I have to say I disagree, from the reports on the web it seemed eerily close to the actual events, but there are quite many differences. It feels like a dark version of a national lampoon movie. The biggest "coincidence" is the location, that is definitely a bit eery.

Why are you worried about any of that? That's what I was talking about with cheap Chinese toys. The true valuable stuff is made outside of China in multiple countries or here. The chips they make are for a fucking karaoke machines. Heaven forbid we don't have those? China is dying. Most clothing isn't made in China. Guess what, everyone has what they need to be clothed currently. My buddy makes textile materials and NONE of it comes from China.

Building materials are mostly from America. No different than Germany firing up coal power plants for energy during this war. It will cost money but we can build/manufacture anything here with current facilities. Somehow China can build a fake hospital in 10 days during covid but we're helpless to create a mundane product like sheetrock? If you trust China more than the USA, I'm sorry, you're 100% wrong. We have more assets and resources than the entire world. China can go away tomorrow and it's a 6 month hiccup. It's why we don't have to worry about the debt. No one can collect. We could dump China for Vietnam or Indonesia over night and "maybe" have a 6-12 month rough patch.

I'm not an America is best person, but we have the demographics. We have the finances. We have the military. It's just the reality. We don't need China. I don't care who lies. I like having the best liar in all honesty and know it.

Those railroad videos are fake and/or NOT in the USA. Let me drive your Lamborghini on a gravel road. Except a train engine is 10x's more expensive. I'm surprised how easily people are fooled.

What does a video I'm not even talking about have to do with anything? The video you linked, were you there when it was filmed? Did you witness it? You know the exact location? I could film something in Arizona or Afghanistan and you'd have no clue which is which.

Media manipulation has been around forever. With modern video tech it's rampant. If rails in the video you linked were real it would have been posted a long time ago if there was honest journalism. There's not. Only when a train derails with toxic chemicals. How convenient.

Truckers have a massive lobby. You don't think after an accident like this they'd send out propaganda? Factor in pipeline companies. There are plenty of people, literally millions that want to bash rail transportation. No one gets the game until they've played it so it's not your fault, but just think about it. You take advantage of a crisis.

There was a video when you click through the link. I made no assumptions. You did assuming it was Ohio or in the US. You cannot verify that. Neither can I. The original video Patrick posted is 100% fake, without a doubt.

I stand corrected. I never watched the video, don't particularly trust youtube, unless it's for entertainment purposes. I was referring to the photo at the top of the page. My point is we have a video, which does look strange, but the tracks in that video look the same as the image in this other website, and both reference Ohio. Could someone be running around making stuff up about Ohio railroad tracks? Sure, but what's in it for them?

I can see very direct incentives for the government and the railorad company to lie about things. I don't see any incentive to create youtube videos, then make posts on train hobbyist sites correlating those videos. Simplest explanation, Ohio has fucked up tracks. But regardless, the highly unlikely circumstances surrounding Ohio, and ESPECIALLY the media blackout scream coverup, and strongly suggest an intentional pollution of the state.

Click bait ad revenue off of a disaster. You're not required to tell the truth on the internet. Honestly it's smart. A train derails let's make it look like everything is shit and find the worst footage possible. Get a million views and $5-10k or whatever as a you tuber (I admittedly don't know the monetization structure). Spend 2 hours compiling videos, post it to YouTube, and sit back and collect cash.

The other video tends to look real. But there's just zero evidence I saw that it was Ohio. We have to remember that industry has their own rail lines that aren't under any federal/local jurisdiction to be maintained. There are companies that get 4 rail cars a year on private property.

Norfolk, CN, BNSF, etc. all have well maintained tracks. It's a requirement. The issue in the East Palestine case was a worn out wheel bearing supposedly. They're not hauling millions in cargo and dangerous chemicals on shit tracks. That's my point. Someone failed at the rail yard maintaining the equipment. Multi billion corps aren't going to ship on tracks that look like anything in the video.
194   fdhfoiehfeoi   2023 Feb 23, 9:16am

But there were no adds in the video. I know the page I linked to specifically mentions the type of track it is, not a mainline commercial one for sure. Isn't that also in the weird looking video? This seems more a case of conditions are bad not this is why that train de-railed.
195   fdhfoiehfeoi   2023 Feb 23, 9:19am

Apparently a video circulating showing EPA officials drinking tap water in East Palestine. Just wondering why they didn't test it and show that instead? Also, did they drink from a house using well or river water? In small towns, well tends to dominate, and I'm not sure how long it will take for that to get polluted.
196   fdhfoiehfeoi   2023 Feb 23, 9:23am

Also, some environmental testers where headed to Ohio(Bedford, NOT East Palestine), and died in a plan crash at, wait for it.. Clinton airport! Apparently tried to take off in high winds in a very small plane. So while they were on their way to investigate a metal factory fire in another town, would they have found pollution from the train wreck as well? Seems odd that the pilot would attempt to take off in bad conditions.

Saw that.

They barely wet their lips. Didn't drink half of the half of a glass they were served.

More propaganda. The impact of years of bathing, washing, drinking is what counts. And they know that - and they looked obviously uncomfortable drinking the tap water.

Agree, they need to monitor and test the soil in that area for at least the next few years as far as groundwater seepage and science.

Also test the water from wells for the next few years.

I would also start testing urine and blood from those who drink from those wells in East Palestine and continue that testing every 6 months for the next five to ten years.

You don't need ads to make money on it.

Why it derailed via wheel bearing is kind of a moot point to the discussion. Videos are coming out to make it look like our rail infrastructure is shit. It's not. Too much doxxing, but I live 3 blocks from a BNSF line in rural IL. They absolutely maintain the fuck out of the tracks, exactly because of events like this. A load you profited maybe 10-15% on now turned into $100M problems and a headache.

Maybe Ohio was lazy. Our tracks here are meticulous. They look NOTHING like what is in those videos, fake or real. We're talking IL here too. The bastion of quality and safety... lol. The videos are shit. They're taking the worst case and making it seem like that's the norm. I have zero interest in rail. I just know infrastructure and I know that's not our railways. It's propaganda.

NTSB’s preliminary report released Thursday showed that the engineer at the controls of the Norfolk Southern train that derailed in Ohio tried to stop the train following a warning about an overheating wheel, but by that time several cars had already come off the tracks.

According to the report, before it derailed, the train passed three detectors intended to alert train crew to physical problems, including overheating wheels. Though the train detectors showed one of the wheels was steadily getting hotter, it did not reach a temperature Norfolk Southern considered critical until it passed the third detector and alerted, as outlined by the National Transportation Safety Board.

When the train passed that last detector, the detector “transmitted a critical audible alarm message instructing the crew to slow and stop the train to inspect a hot axle,” the report said.

By then, the engineer was already trying to slow the train because it was behind another train. Upon hearing the alarm, the engineer increased the application of the brakes, and then automatic emergency brakes initiated, bringing the train to a stop.

When it stopped, the crew “observed fire and smoke and notified the Cleveland East dispatcher of a possible derailment,” the report said.

I don't do social media, so no idea, but whenever I watch youtube for entertainment, those guys always have commercials now days. Can you break down how much they generate with these fake videos, and why this particular scenario is more profitable than the shit people always watch like cats, babies, etc? I mean this story is largely ignored by mainstream news, so they have to be targeting a pretty niche audience. You see how convoluted this starts to get, versus Ohio has some fucked up railways? It just seems like you're really having to stretch for this.

Chemical spills, plastic fires, food processing plants burning down. Illegals flooding in, inflation, attempts to push us to inferior energy. No gas, not enough electricity, no parts for jobs, no products for stores, no food for shelves. If I didn't know better, I'd say someone was trying to push us to 3rd world living status. And from that perspective these events, videos, and pictures aren't neglect, the conditions are intentional.

It wasn't regulations that caused the disaster in Palestine Ohio.

It was Norfolk Southern that caused the disaster in Palestine Ohio.

A company can cut corners if they want, everything has a cost / benefit analysis to it, even a human life. A car could be made that would 100% guarantee the safety of the passengers in any head on crash up to 100 miles and hour, but it would cost 10 million dollars and get 1 mile to the gallon.

Norfolk Southern thought they could save money, that's fine but it resulted in this disaster, and THEY are financially responsible. Now if the government gives them a pass, THAT'S where the corruption lies.

You don't need regulations when you have liability. There is liability here, it's just a question of whether the government will enforce it or not.
