Germany is more Woke than the USA so I expect they "culture cancelled" the movie Song of the South before Disney did.

I guess the reason the restored original is in .mov format is the restoration work was likely done using Apple's Final Cut Pro. Final Cut Pro defaults to Apples proprietary .mov (quicktime) video protocol, although it is easy enough to export to mp4 and others from Final Cut Pro.
