Why are these cities the safest?

Is it because they are actually safe or are crimes not reported/prosecuted?

The data is crap. Take a look. The crime rate for Lakewood (#4) is higher than the crime rate for Loveland (#5).

In Gilbert, AZ violent crime rate is 96.6.

Ohoman seems to be pushing an agenda.

They're factoring in natural disaster risk. 3-5 are all Colorado, but doesn't account for the greater metro area. Denver is getting a bit more sketchy having been out there almost annually since 2016. Centennial and Lakewood are suburbs technically. I don't know Fort Collins area. El Paso is only the true "city" on the list in my opinion.

Wish Ohomen included a link. I'm skeptical of the list or at least how they calculated it. I feel like there are safer "cities" than this by a long shot.

The safest places by far are in New England; Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont have extremely low crime.
I have never heard of 1. an earthquake 2. a tornado 3. a hurricane 4. a flash flood/mud slide 5.BLM riot affecting these areas.

The worst that can happen up there is a blizzard.
Edit: also Montana, Wyoming, Idaho, are safe.

Missed it on the first read. WTF does humidity have to do with safety?? A link would be nice @Ohomen

Ah... No. They don't get wet bulbed like was already supposed to happen to us all with climate change by now.

The duck is no longer here, but that still is and will be one of the worst predictions on this site. You were here during those years.

How come Elena and ohomen don't offer us any of their liberal psychedelic mushrooms? They're so selfish.

Safety from crime in America is always a function of how homogeneously white the area is. The whiter an area, the safer.

I'm pretty sure that any homogeneously Asian area would also be very safe.

I like Hispanic people, but they do have a lot of gang violence.

Exception to that rule is El Paso

We need to know the % of blacks in the mentioned cities.

Chicago neighborhood wise it was Pilsen. The Mexicans there didn't fight with each other. It was when blacks encroached on "their" territory. My wife took the El every workday for about 2-3 years at Western and 21st. Never had an issue. We lived just over a block away. It's less Mexican today, but was about 60-70% when we lived there.

Mexicans and most latinos are pretty conservative people. The men can be crude outside the range of hearing from their wife, they're very traditional if you hang around enough of them. A few of the young guys can get aggressive, but their crime rate was generally low for a major city. I had a major drug bust next to my building. We're talking SWAT team, flash bang grenade style and 30 officers. Actually met the guy, Mexican, seemed nice enough.

Now blacks on the South and West side of Chicago, I feared for my life if I'm being honest every time I went into those neighborhoods. I eventually got calloused enough to it and the fear went away. But when you're a 22 years old going to the worst sections of Chicago it kind of freaks you out.

I'd figure a place like Des Moines, IA would be on that list for safe cities. Not huge, but still a city of 250k. Or Omaha, Nebraska.

Well I think I found the safest City in Joe Biden's America.

Edit: also Montana

Eh, this one is tricky. I know IL obviously. Then WI, FL and MT of the top 3 besides my home state. MT it's really hard to really classify anything as a city even if it's called that. 119k in Billings at the top. Missoula and Bozeman are college towns where students end up making it their permanent address during those years. So you're talking cities of 50k or less generally. The black population is literally the basketball teams at the Universities in MT.

Again I wish Ohomen would post the source of the data. Violent crimes are vague depending on how stats are gathered. There's not murder in Bozeman, MT, but there's plenty of trash that beat their wives or get in bar fights. I've never felt unsafe there, but there are some morons with guns that are migrants from other states that learn out there and don't know what they're doing. Also miscellaneous crime happens. Drownings. Pushed off a cliff. So you may be from Bozeman, but got killed in Ennis an hour away.

If you're into that sort of thing, MT is great place to make someone disappear. And disclaimer, this is not murder advice, it's just reality of the rurality of the state.

Denver was safe as hell in 2016. When I went back there a couple of years ago, it was discernably more "San Fran" with homeless and pothead beggars.

I'm usually going there for a Red Rocks show, snowboarding or golf. So usually just Peña to I-70 to a foothill cabin. Just driving through and hitting up a dispensary on the way with buddies or meeting CO buddies.

I think they went over the top with legal weed. You're within a 5 minute drive of any dispensary basically in Denver or the burbs. I'm fine with legal weed and I HATE regulation, but I do think it should be like liquor licenses. I know they have rules like X feet away from a school. I just think they shouldn't be as accessible. Maybe like a 2 mile rule in urban areas. Though that's probably racist...

I don't agree with 2, 3 and 13. Obviously it's probably backed by stats, but I don't think those 3 are dangerous.

Really it needs to be broken down to specific neighborhoods in these cities. Never felt unsafe in NOLA during my only visit, probably because I didn't visit the ghetto. Milwaukee is actually a cool city. Again, don't visit the ghetto areas.

Chicago is another example. Englewood, South Shore, Austin and Garfield Park areas absolutely destroy Chicago's crime rates overall. The other 50 neighborhoods aren't all the bad.

St. Louis is actually a shit hole though. That one I'd agree with. Wife's company is based out of there. Even the whites are fucking idiots. It's a cesspool of shit. Kansas City takes the cake for worst airport but STL is in a close second. Missouri is a shitbed of shit overall. They have some decent spots in rural areas, but even then it's usually pretty trashy.

Yeah, Denver's a bad bet. My parents won't even go downtown anymore.

Crime and disease are predictable, natural events are not. Global warming list, and shit data.
