If the woke establishment shut down our Cell phone networks and only the elites had satellite phones.
Would it surprise anyone, if Elon instantly sent out a Tweet telling everyone Starlink is up and everyone is allowed to use it to communicate?

The Establishment tried to make Ukraine go dark at the start of the war. Saying Russia took out their networks. Elon Musk offered his services and we never heard another word about it. People are still Tweeting and in Zelensky's case Twerking just fine today without Starlink..

They might also take the internet offline, except for military use. I've read that there is an entirely separate military internet.

Might be useful to get familiar with shortwave, especially digital shortwave.

If the Internet went down, that would close all businesses. You're not going to be worried about communication, you're going to be worried about how to get food.

If that strategy has never worked any where in the world where we have had conflict or meddled in conflicts, then it would never work here.
I think they could have cleaned up Taliban, ISIS, Alqeda ect... had the population we had those conflicts in, been on line Tweeting and calling each other.
It would have been over in a year.

The US had a direct hand in creating all of those. Our government funded both these groups (and they have significant overlap) to fight the USSR in the 1980s. We collectively called them the Mujahideen then.

The US government will never mention the Mujahideen ever again, and will pretend they just some disappeared sometime in the 1990's, because they were allies. They are the same people. Nobody remembers the Mujahideen but those that do "oh they were good people fighting for freedom", but those nasty Taleban, somehow they were ENTIRELY different, and the Mujahideen, guess they just packed up and moved to another country or something in the span of 10 years..

I don't blame people for not making this connection, but once it's made for them, they should have an "aha!" moment.

That's a primary problem, next would be violence.

I'd cut my power to my place, except for the fridge, cook everything I could in one day, freeze everything, and enjoy cold, odorless food for the next month or two. Might buy a bag of dog food or two and hunker down for a month or two. Also would fill every available container with water, including my bathtub.

I could survive two months, no problem, if I could remain undetected.

Shootout wouldn't fix anything. I have to sleep at some point.

What do you mean "without"? Starlink is huge there, both in civilian and military applications.

So you can turn off cell service and keep the GPS tracking.

First concern will be water, not food. Don't believe me, tell me how you can get water when electricity goes down and the city system stops working.

Ham radio is still the most effective means of decentralized communication.

When you say hunkering down is bad, you mean we should return to being nomadic? That's not practical without a source of food(hunting). Community will still exist around a particular location, and you want to be part of a community to survive.
