California teachers do not get (or contribute to) Social Security during their time teaching.

Neither do railway workers, I believe.

Guv employees with other retirement plans can 'opt out' of SS payments, which they usually do, since the alternate Guv plans are better. I know the Lab guys in Livermore have very nice retirement plans and get to keep the SS dole to spend.

Congress don't pay SS either, because in addition to all the graft, bribery and insider training, they have fabulous medical and 'retirement' that they have self assigned.

SS used to be 15 percent off the top of the paycheck, with the payee paying half (7.5 percent) and the employer paying half. That's a lot over a working life for so little return at the end compared to standard investments. It's especially bloody painful when it is use to subsidize the illegals and doled out whatever grifty grafty way the politicians see fit to whomever. Now, add that to the insult that it is also laundered away, and somebody needs to be burned at the stake.

Do the "lab guys" at the Livermore's get a state pension like CALPERS or do they get Federal Employee Retirement System ?

I think they "lab guys" are employees of the university which administers the federal lab

.

I don't know, but I would guess its the FERS. Our neighbors who worked for LLC said they didn't have to contribute SS.

The USDA says "several" staffers working on the bird flu response were terminated over the weekend, and "we are working to swiftly rectify the situation and rescind those letters."

If they gave her an enema, there'd be nothing left of her.

He's cherry picking. I checked a few items, and they're much more expensive than I can get either locally or via my pals at AlldayChemist.

Should I promote again at my job I know one of my day one actions. For whatever reason there are government employees, and not just at the federal level, that don’t do basic stuff like checking their email. It’s not a lot, maybe 1-3% of staff, but of course is absolutely unacceptable. First day I direct all supervisors to issue the highest level disciplinary action against an any employee that fails to check email within the first 20 minutes at work. 2nd incident goes straight to complaint.
323   Glock-n-Load   @   2025 Feb 23, 9:29pm

Wow, government really is useless. Check email? LMAO. Results. If your job doesn’t require any measurable results, GTFO.
