Let me explain the debt ceiling to you since it's pretty clear most of you have no idea what is going on.

As of now, there is no debt ceiling.

Let me repeat that for all of those "true conservative" supporters. As of right now, there is no debt ceiling.

The debt ceiling was suspended back in Jun of 2023.

As things stand now, as of Jan 1st, 2025, the debt ceiling will return, and it will be whatever it was when it was suspended plus whatever spending Biden and the dems did since June of 2023. That new debt ceiling is estimated to be hit by June of 2025 if not earlier.

What the CR wanted to do is push the redemption of the debt ceiling back for 2 years.

This would allow massive tax cuts that Trump wants to make. Things like no tax on tips, no tax on social security, no tax on overtime, a 15% tax bracket for companies who built here, and to stop the Trump tax cuts from expiring.

You see, the government idiots consider tax cuts as government spending. So if you do $4 trillion in tax cuts, the government considers that $ 4 trillion in spending.

The debt ceiling redemption on Jan 1st will make Trump have to figure out how to pass the tax cuts without going over the debt ceiling and triggering a default. Do you get it now?

By not moving the non-existent debt ceiling back two more years, the "true conservatives" just stopped you from getting more of your money returned to you by tax cuts and they kept more money in the government for a bigger gov. In effect, they just voted for the exact opposite of what they tell you they want and don't for a second think they don't know that.

Quick story about govt. shutdowns and the theatrics behind them. One year when I was reporting at CBS News during a govt. shutdown, I think 2013, we were sincerely searching for real life impact. When we couldn't find any, that should have been part of the story. Instead, we kept trying to create the appearance of an impact. It wasn't really trying to be dishonest.

It was, in my retrospective view, because the general editorial idea for the story was to show how bad the "Republican" shutdown was for ordinary Americans, and the answer simply couldn't be that it wasn't. I've written quite a bit about this but we, as journalists, too often "decide" the story in advance and shape the facts to fit our narrative, rather than gathering information and letting that tell the story, whatever it may be. Anyway, the Ds were blaming Rs for the shutdown, so we were calling Ds and the Obama administration for ideas to report what was the real impact. Taking our cue, these officials fabricated impact that we could report.

For example, they cordoned off outdoor public monuments in Washington DC. We knew and even discussed in the newsroom that this made no sense. These monuments weren't "manned" to begin with. The only reason to cordon them off from the public was so that visiting tourists would see the "impact" of the shutdowns and the news media would have something to take pictures of and interview people about. There are other examples but this is the one I remember the most.

All government spending is paid with either taxes or inflation.

Unless you cut government spending, the taxpayers will pay the same.

“But Chip Roy is just a fiscally conservative Republican!”
-Supported Liz Cheney
-Supported George Floyd
-Thought Trump should be impeached
-Supported Pence on J6
-Worked for John Cornyn
-Wanted Ken Paxton impeached and removed from AG
-Certified election fraud in 2020
-Anti-Trump in 2016, 2020, and 2024

Chip is nothing but an establishment RINO who fakes “principled stands” if it means he can stop Trump and the MAGA movement All he wants is a salary increase and some Fox News airtime

The debt ceiling was suspended back in Jun of 2023.

The procedural vote breaker was none other than Massie.

And Massie refused to join Gaetz' rebellion and gave Biden the Debt Ceiling suspension.

Now Massie wants to reimpose it - just as Trump is about to take office.

Don't let Mike Johnson and RINO Republicans lie to you ... they have the gavel.

They could write a short bill today with a clean 3-month CR, only adding hurricane relief, zero pork, and no raise.

Then if Democrats vote against it, they can honestly say they voted against hurricane relief victims.

It's that freaking simple.

They don't want to because they're used to getting themselves, their lobbyists, and their donors filthy rich off the backs of hardworking Americans.

ENOUGH !!!

Let them eat shit this last month. Might be painful for some and it will make it a pain for Trump, but it's the exact reason reason Trump got elected. The Dems have been digging a hole since Obama and this win for Trump has them realizing they don't have a ladder to get out.

These Democrats aren't going to have jobs is my point. Cable networks are folding, so they can't even get jobs there. Dems have no talent in the pipeline to win POTUS in '28 in my opinion. They suck in the podcasting realm. Democrats in that area have flipped on Dems already. They also can't keep running on abortion. You can get one if you want one. No sure how that is part of a platform.

I care about it, but I can find 10 other topics that are way more important. There's a simple solution, whores keep their pants on again. Boom, problem solved. Layered on top with condoms and birth control. I despise abortion but the religious right needs to stop getting triggered by it. We could have a decade or two of conservative power if the libertarians, conservatives and decent liberals don't get trigger on this topic.

Back to the OP though, just write a bill that's funds what was promised for X amount of days. No other bullshit in it on the way out. Otherwise let payments stop. Hell people stopped going to work for years with covid and somehow we managed. So we go 45 days with it shut down. Might be for the good of the nation. Realizing what we're spending on stuff is bull shit.

If Biden can forgive Student loans, and get away with it for four years, against court rulings even. Then Trump can slash spending and close departments to find funds for his projects.
