Right now.

It was going well, until Zelensky went into a Putin rant, and tried to push NAFO propaganda about starving Ukrainian POWs, etc. Trump put up with it.

Zelensky was being a stubborn ass and while it was cool he fought his corner hard, Trump lost his Temper with him a little bit in reaction to a reporter's question (I missed the question as I was in the John).

Telling him he is NOT in a position to dictate anything, that Ukraine was in big trouble, etc.

This is like watching a table of Mafiosos and the Big Don of New York (pun intended) is telling the Little Don of St. Louis what is going to happen. That Big Don is making a Deal with Chicago Don, and the St. Louis family ought to be grateful they're getting anything instead of whacked out.

Something is going on here.

Rubio looks like he's about to leap off that couch and strangle Zelensky. An Al Pacino scene with "Death Eyes"

These meetings never happen without a shitload of negotiations and agreements before hand, just so parties can announce something positive. I suspect Zelensky welched on something previously agreed to.

EDIT: Word is it was Rubio who took Zelensky by the arm and walked him out of the negotiations.

One of the swamp creatures said today, that Trump now owns Ukraine. That could explain why so many establishment GOP Senators and Congressmen are elated what transpired. It's not their problem anymore and they don't get the blame for continued effort and failure.
To their chagrin Trump will prevail with the Ukraine seize fire and peace deal.

Nope. Europe does.

Trump is evidently ignorant or naive; there was previously a "deal with Russia"; Putin ignored it and invaded Ukraine anyway, after promising not to invade.

What the fuck kind of deal can Trump make with a maniac? Even Trump has limits to his negotiating skill.

Of course, it must feel great to belittle a guy who is trying to save his country from invaders.

What prevents Zel from turning around and offering the same deal to China now?

but won't pay back the loans Europe made to Ukraine on Ukraine's behalf.

But only $18B to Ukraine, most of it as loans and old hardware donations.

Well, Z is an actor, as are most of them to some extent, so I could believe this was a frenemy type staging and Z was in on it. Eye of the beholder and all that. All star wrestling.

Why not inject a bit of 'Mean Girls' into the White House proceedings. Maybe Z got some of his rare earths back. Z's cards are blackmail of a good number of our illustrious Congress critters. Illuminati wars are interesting.

"Spill the beans, Z, bring it all on. I want to hear it. We'll make Auntie Graham snivel in his gin."

Don't be surprised if Trump makes a comment about Zelensky's unusually agitated state.

Which, according to rumor among Europeans, is "Well Known" as to the cause. SNIFF

Maybe they should have had the meeting at a rehab instead of the Oval Office.

I think Trump is doing a Jerry Springer routine with these 'world leaders' coming for audiences at the White House showing what depraved and pitiful tools they are while pretending to glad hand them.

From what I've seen I liked it. Both Trump and JD were the alphas in the room. They made Z look weak, which I think was the point. I need to watch the full thing at some point. But I've seen clips where Trump touches Z with his hand on the arm. That's boss style.
61   Tenpoundbass   2025 Mar 1, 7:33am

There's a full 45 minute video out there I watched yesterday. But the audio cut out after ten minutes. But the footage I did see gave me more details on what Zelensky was getting.

He talked about getting Russia's 350 billion, he said "Yes! OK! So we get that money, but it still wont be enough!"
Trump and Vance just looked at each other.
Then Zelensky said the US will give Ukraine license for air defense, tanks and fighter jets. Now I would assume, this is more than we sell Ukraine those armaments it sounds like Ukraine would also be able to produce them themselves, and they would be supplied.
We were also going to rebuild their electric grid and infrastructure.

Now they were getting their roads, and grid restored, which they wouldn't have to touch the 350 billion Russian funds to get done.
The arms we supplied wouldn't be out of the 350 billion.
So Zelensky stated that the 350 billion wasn't enough an scoffed at it, because he as well as we all know that only about 70 billion if that would go to spending on his armed forces, and administrative work for Ukraine. The rest would be chopped up for the EU grifteres, the US grifters and the Zelensky cabal. Trump and Vance caught on at that point, Zelensky wasn't there for peace, he was there to keep the checks going. The Worldwide Establishment is on the ropes, DOGE knocked their funding out of service. This war is all that they have left. They need large military checks being cut to Ukraine so they can continue to dib it up.

Trump has the biggest balls in Washington. Go man Go
63   clambo   2025 Mar 1, 8:14am

Trump was ranting nonsense and bullshit; Vance is a little twerp, I don't give a shit what he says about anything.

I otherwise support Trump for other things he does, but this time he was a clown and lived up to the media representation of him.

I would gladly send my $5 grand "Doge refund" to Ukraine to buy missiles to blast that maniac Putin to hell.

They should have met in private to agree on some of the details and get a signature or Zelensky.

I watched the Oval Office meeting and it seemed like Zelensky was the most vocal when JD Vance stated about diplomacy with the Kremlin, which I understand is a controversial statement given Russia invaded Ukraine and caused a lot of death and destruction. It's like trying to appease a lesser version of Adolph Hitler.

So Zelensky wants Trump to make more specific security commitments, which Trump already said there will be European (including British) troops in Ukraine.

That is a way for Trump to already set one concession for Putin before even meeting him.

But Trump's style is very coy, and because of that, he won't "show all or most of his cards" to both Zelensky and Putin.

Zelensky said since the war started, $320 billion has been spent on weapons and defense, with $200 billion from the USA and Europe and $120 billion from the Ukraine people.
Link: https://www.voanews.com/a/us-figures-do-not-support-trump-claims-on-ukraine-spending/7981441.html

The above VOA link seems to imply USA spent $102 billion and Europe $98 billion for that $200 billion in weapons and defense funding.

About $37.6 billion (of the $183 billion shown on the US inspector general for Ukraine assistance) is from USAID.
Link: https://www.cnn.com/2025/02/17/europe/ukraine-counts-costs-of-usaid-suspension-intl/index.html

So far I counted from the USA about $102 billion weapons funding and $37.6 billion in USAID funding since February 2022, and from what I've been reading on various news sites, estimate roughly $50 billion "set aside" annually for Ukraine.

BUT YES, how many "pass through's" or "middle men" in the USA and Europe (i.e, grifter "administrators" at the government agencies and Non Government Organizations) are there that get the Ukraine money ?

YES about "grifters" like how much of the grants from Birdbrain Biden admin will eventually make it to AntiFa rioters when its "their time to cause havoc" ?

The 350 Billion stated above was frozen Russian assets that hasn't been spent. Zelensky scoffed at it, like it's chump change. That's more than most countries that size decade GDP.

To be clear here, the events we witnessed yesterday, was NOT the formal meeting. It was the photo opp meet and greet.
Where both sides were supposed to put on their best poker face and alligator smiles, and at most hint to any inquiry on any details.
Every dignitary that has ever come to Washington has been gracious and all smiles at that portion of the meeting. After that meet and greet, they were supposed to meet in private hash out any outstanding details, sign the agreement then have lunch and later in the day, they were to have a joint press conference. That would have been the venue and platform for Zelensky to have aired his grievances. Even if he rejected the deal, then he would have seemed very stately and prudent. but he way he acted at the wrong time, made him look like a damn fool. Vance and Trump was right to send the ungrateful little fuck packing with goose eggs.

Yeah, as far as $350 billion from seized Russian assets to rebuild Ukraine from western Kiev (i.e., Bucha) to the western border of Donbas, assuming Russia keeps Donbas.

I agree, sign some symbolic and very general / non-specific deal on mineral rights, especially since the USA agreed to a much lesser portion than the original proposal of its share of $500 billion

A few hours after the Oval Office meeting , Zelensky was more conciliatory on Fox News with Brett Baier : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GfqLcBwUT_E

This may mean Zelensky may soon meet again with Trump and at least sign the deal as the first step to at least a cease fire
