LOS ANGELES (AP) — Siemens plans to invest $285 million in manufacturing in the United States, the tech company said Thursday, including two new facilities in California and Texas.

The U.S. is the largest market for the company. The recent investments in the Siemens’ U.S. manufacturing footprint and the planned acquisition of Altair, a Michigan-based software company, mark more than $10 billion in investment in the U.S.

The best thing is the hyperskepticism of Vox, PMSNBC, and the NYT. It's a kind of reverse Kramer.

What is PMSNBC? NBC on the rag?

Louisiana NG to fire those steel mills is dirt cheap.

A lot of this was already in the works, too. The Sorks already started a strategy of building locally to their customers about a decade ago, just like Japan did 25 or so years ago.

That's why Hundai/Kia and Toyota/Honda cars sold in the US are like 90% American components. They do the same in China and the EU and starting to do so in India. Brazil falls under the category of 'it depends'.

But over all, this is the future for everyone. In fact, just as globalization reached such absurdities like the production of a pair of Levi's crossing the Pac like over a 100 times, we will see the world hyperlocalize production the opposite direction to within the same state or even county.

The global warming crowd should be the biggest cheerleaders of this, since it prevents all that "carbon" spewed by shipping all those goods across oceans.

I don't agree with it as it ads 5-10% on products, but it's not that dirty. Shipping at distances it's the cleanest unless you can put 2,000k shipping containers on a wind sail boat. And assume the wind will be good for sailing that time of year. Green leftist really don't care about shipping. They want your car and will burn your Tesla. Definition of retardation.

Then it's trains for transportation.

Reality is low skill Americans really aren't paid that much per item shipped if it weren't shipped across the ocean. You'd have 100% better logistical control over the supply chain to store or warehouse. At the same time you're screwing the Chinese over. It's a win/win.

They're not going to cheer about it though. They don't care about Americans is the bigger issue. My region is not warming at all. I wear a coat 6 months a year. Ice isn't melting at the poles. We've had few hurricanes and they're now rain events for the most part. More wind and solar than I imagined ever seeing in my lifetime. EV's. At some point it's time to tap the brakes on the green agenda.

MOAR Massive onshoring from Taiwan and NVIDIA
Nvidia has announced plans to build AI supercomputers in Texas and invest up to $500 billion in AI production within the United States.

Barron’s reports that AI powerhouse Nvidia has commissioned over a million square feet of manufacturing space in Arizona and Texas to build and test its Blackwell chips and AI supercomputers. This marks the first time that Nvidia will be producing its cutting-edge AI technology entirely within the United States.

Nvidia’s Blackwell chips have already started production at TSMC’s chip plants in Phoenix, Arizona. Meanwhile, the company is constructing supercomputer manufacturing plants in partnership with Foxconn in Houston and Wistron in Dallas. Mass production at these facilities is expected to ramp up within the next 12-15 months.

The manufacturing of Nvidia’s AI chips and supercomputers for American AI factories is projected to generate hundreds of thousands of jobs and drive trillions of dollars in economic security in the decades ahead. Nvidia founder and CEO Jensen Huang stated, “The engines of the world’s AI infrastructure are being built in the United States for the first time. Adding American manufacturing helps us better meet the incredible and growing demand for AI chips and supercomputers, strengthens our supply chain and boosts our resiliency.”

The AI chip and supercomputer supply chain is highly complex, requiring the most advanced manufacturing, packaging, assembly, and testing technologies. To support this endeavor, Nvidia is collaborating with Amkor and SPIL for packaging and testing operations in Arizona.

Over the next four years, Nvidia plans to produce up to half a trillion dollars worth of AI infrastructure in the United States through its partnerships with TSMC, Foxconn, Wistron, Amkor, and SPIL. These industry-leading companies are deepening their ties with the most powerful company in the AI space, expanding their global footprint while strengthening supply chain resilience.

I agree, as any improvement over Birdbrain Biden is a Godsend. I hope there is an increase in % of manufacturing job and a reduction in the federal deficit for 2025.

We'll see. Not being skeptical, but I won't believe until I see it. Just because Trump wrote a book doesn't mean other people don't practice the same thing. Or the get tax breaks from localities that screw over residents. Then toss in unions.

News like this isn't always good necessarily. I agree with the moves, but we'll see. We need higher wages or lower cost of goods, otherwise it doesn't mean much. It's better than whatever Biden did though. I was okay with the CHIPS act, but that was about it in 4 years.

i hated Chips act. it was welfare for that industry. micron over here took in billions, implemented DEI and hired bunch of Indians to replace Americans. locals in Idaho always detested that company and their frequent layoffs.

and republicans who pretend we live in free market… bullshit. it’s all manipulated and tightly controlled. they tax us, give it to their friends, and rest of us get inflation. i get very bitter about this crap.

I agree but at least it is closer to a free market economy than a Marxist state economy.

We saw yesterday China's decision in regards to its export policy of rare earth metals, so its a necessary evil for the federal government to intervene like with the Chips Act.

marxist policy any different? this is just marxist policy with dollars as exchange medium. rich can be richer, bezos can fly penis rockets into outer space and buy articles on foxnews about how his girlfriend faints when he orgasms. but middle class shrinks because of inflation, government policy, corruption. they even banned prayer in schools, literal marxism. money for the connected, fuck everyone else.

whole world is filled with mostly poor and few rich, middle class is tiny. we used to be opposite of that. and yet now we seem to be averaging out the same. our policies are no different from them.

We really need to get the chip making back. Globalist subversives knew this critical infrastructure would lead to our being held hostage sooner or later.
