IMHO, it's all true. Jews are smarter on average, and that gives them a big natural advantage at the right tail of the bell curve. Jews are also nepotistic like lots of ethnic groups, preferring to favor other Jews and being not too fond of outsiders.

And there seems to be an unusually high number of psychopathic Jews, which is maybe caused by the known mutations in brain chemistry related to intelligence as described at https://web.mit.edu/fustflum/documents/papers/AshkenaziIQ.jbiosocsci.pdf above.

I've read that one driver of increased intelligence over generations is strong competition within the group, leading to an arms race of sorts. You have to be smarter than your cousins or they will wipe you out. Supposedly this is the kind of competition that made crows and octopi so smart, and maybe it happened with Jews too.

Occupations like trade and finance are where the smartest get disproportionate rewards and can produce the largest number of surviving children. Ashkenazi Jews in Europe were mostly in trade and finance, but the Sephardic Jews in the Ottoman Empire found that niche occupied by the Armenians for centuries. So the Armenians seem to have experienced the same kind of evolution that drove higher intelligence, but the Sephardic Jews, not so much.

Correct. Mizrahi/Sephardic Jews seem to be at the average Euro-Med level of intelligence.

Another factor is the prestige of arguing finer points of Theology = Social Status = more marital prospects + larger families.
