150 years?! I guess that means he'll be out in a few months, a year at the most. I remember when murders were given life sentences and were getting out of prison in 7 or 8 years with good behavior. I think they have since fixed a lot of those loop holes, but when there a guy in prison for a white collar crime and there murders, rapist, child molesters and other violent offenders that need to be put away. A judge will serious consider paroling a non-volient criminal to make prison space for the violent ones. As budget pressures increase on city, state and federal govermments that have make due with less (given that the can't just borrow there way out of trouble anymore) I think your going to see a lot of chances to things in the coming years.
Honestly I really don't feel all that sorry for these fools that lost everything to a con man. Most of them were being greedy, diversifying your assets is one of the basic rules of investing. Never have all your eggs in on basket. They thought there were getting something for nothing. They are as much to blame for there current dire financial position as Madoff is.
He's lucky. He could have got life.
