I am convinced that everyone in the bay area has a multimillion dollar inheritance, and extremely low standards when it comes to the homes they spend those millions on.
How else do you explain Johnson era homes on dinky lots going for almost a million dollars?
I'm priced out and unclassed out.
At least the sun will still be shining and it will be close to 70+ for 3/4 of the year (not in SF proper of course).
Maybe I can get a solar powered armored car.
…and this 54-year old Bay Area native is about to become another moving statistic…as soon as my 1,650sf, 80-year-old gorgeous craftsman (paid $176K CASH) in Salem, OR closes. I don’t give a damn if it rains half the time. Weather isn’t enough reason to keep me here anymore. This place has had it.
Congrats! Craftsman houses are second only to Prairies in my book.
Rain is life. Or without rain there is no life. Or something.
Dear zetabeos: The reason is I’ve simply had it with so many negative things about this place: the poor driving, the smugness and sense of entitlement among all the faux rich people, the graffiti, the trash, the crowds, the noise. It’s stale. Time to go. Besides, I am not employable here because I have zero interest in high tech. Nobody wants an old school boy. So I’m just retiring early. Next year I get my pension and can live off that for the rest of my life quite well, since I don’t want or need things (i.e., I am NOT a consumer, and I hate to be called that). I live simply and healthfully. Most of the “consumers†I will leave behind are shallow, boring people who don’t have time for real friendship and culture anyway.
I hate the term 'consumer' too. WE ARE NOT A TARGET MARKET.
>> best baseball stadium
This always gives me giggles. nothing like watching
- an over paid team
- play a mediocre game
- while eating overpriced food & watered-down beer
- in an over priced stadium
- that we common folks help fund and making the team owners rich
yeah, where do I sign up?
I hope the folks in Santa Clara are wise and vote down the new 49er stadium proposal.

Big amen to that. I never understood people who have their entire ego tied up in some foolish and monopolistic professional sports team. Sometimes I think they are the same rah-rah crowd that are clamoring to buy houses at ANY price.
SF area #2 on list of most abandoned cities.

Better buy now or be priced out forever! We are at the bottom, buy buy buy! They're not making any more land, the Bay Area is different, so many millionaires, prices never go down here!
