"Manhattan Supreme Justice Maxwell Wiley tossed the 16-count indictment against Manafort without discussion or explanation during a hearing which reportedly lasted all of 90 seconds."

Did you even read your own linked article? 90 seconds was excessive time when the the NY Legislature passed a law specifically to go after Manafort after the fact, a law that defense attorneys in general as well as ACLU types strongly opposed. Defense Attorneys and ACLU types generally are not Trump supporters. The article even points out that prosecutor Vance has a history of pay-to-play justice, and was going hard after Manafort to revamp his image.

This idea has been floating around for months. It leaves Trump hanging and without the ability to begin inevitable crowing about being acquitted. Given McConnell only wants a minimal trail without witnesses, its gaining some support.
107577   SunnyvaleCA   2019 Dec 18, 4:04pm

Hopefully McConnell won't budge. The "lower" house doesn't get to dictate how the senate proceeds just as the senate didn't dictate how the house hearings worked.

The democrats demand "allow testimony from witnesses that Democrats want to hear from" in the senate trial. Great, but the democrats didn't allow republicans to call witnesses they wanted to hear from in the house proceedings.
107578   Bd6r   2019 Dec 18, 4:42pm

AF, you are so charmingly naive.

The point of so-called "impeachment" (and I remind you, this is attempt number two or three) is not to find some evidence of tRUMP's wrongdoing, it is to play on ORANGEMANBAD emotions of voters hoping that they vote against ORANGEMANBAD in next elections. It is most definitely NOT to find anything of any real consequence. Imagine what would happen if we would suddenly find that tRUMP has dealt with wise guys in NY? Other politicians may suffer as well, including probably all elected D's from that blue state/city! About DB Note, you can not bring internal dealings of a large bank into limelight, and be sure that both parties are handsomely paid off by banksters for that not to happen.

Or may be D's are just so stupid and detached from reality that they think that declaring that ORANGE MAN IS BAD is sufficient without proof.

Can someone get a call into a Congressman's people to stand up and demand to recruit the underwriting memorandum for the DB note?

Wouldn't that be a request to involve foreign interference in an election?

A deluge of bomb threats and other angry calls would make that unlikely. Unless you are Epstein or a criminal bankster.

Palosi said she would not go through with impeachment unless the vote to impeach was bi-partisan. Only the "Nay" vote was bi-partisan.

In one case, we observed a change in the regular movements of a Microsoft engineer. He made a visit one Tuesday afternoon to the main Seattle campus of a Microsoft competitor, Amazon. The following month, he started a new job at Amazon. It took minutes to identify him as Ben Broili, a manager now for Amazon Prime Air, a drone delivery service.
“I can’t say I’m surprised,” Mr. Broili told us in early December. “But knowing that you all can get ahold of it and comb through and place me to see where I work and live — that’s weird.” That we could so easily discern that Mr. Broili was out on a job interview raises some obvious questions, like: Could the internal location surveillance of executives and employees become standard corporate practice?

"The vote in the Republican-controlled Senate was 61-6 in favor of the National Defence Authorisation Act, or NDAA."

Hey, math wiz, if the vote was 61-6 that means it had overwhelming Dem support as well. What is the point of saying "Republican controlled?"

107601   ignoreme   2019 Dec 20, 4:26am

Yah! Remember that part in the constitution where it said the senate must wait for the house to appoint impeachment managers!
107602   ignoreme   2019 Dec 20, 4:33am

Under your logic, if a cop gives you a speeding ticket, and then if you go to court to contest that ticket and the cop doesn’t show up, you must wait there FOREVER and the judge can never throw the case out.

Hahahahaha
107603   Booger   2019 Dec 20, 4:45am

The reason the Democrats don’t want to submit the Articles of Impeachment to the Senate is that they don’t want corrupt politician Adam Shifty Schiff to testify under oath, nor do they want the Whistleblower, the missing second Whistleblower, the informer, the Bidens, to testify!

Hmm something tells me that Trump supporters still don't understand how impeachment works. I i would think that if someone wants Pelosi to move forward with the next step they will have to take it to the courts to get a ruling that she move it forward.

What is your point? Are you in support of this move? Do you think it helps the Democrats or are they just digging the hole deeper and won't be able to get out of it? I think the hole is too deep at this point and they know and they're just saying fuck it.

Actually, that's the way municipal courts operate in NJ. It's awful. That's why everyone pleads guilty.

He wants the Dems to continue the "Successful" Strategy of opening up processes against Trump that take forever to come to a conclusion. "Successful" in Quotes because Trump is still President and his approval is in the mid 40s as it has been most of his Presidency.

Frankly, it might not be so bad because holding this one back is so obviously politicized, even more so than the impeachment hearings themselves.

Strongly believe Trump Bashing Fatigue has set in for the 88% of the population that isn't hard Left.
107607   Goran_K   2019 Dec 20, 7:42am

Pelosi knows the polls have swung against her and they’ve swung hard. She doesn’t want the senate trial to destroy all chance of keeping the house, but it’s far too late.

They’ve spent 3 years bashing trump and Trump has spent 3 years putting money in people’s pockets.

Trump will step down in 2025.

There is definitely something to this. Putting Democrat Congress critters under oath and asking them tough questions would reveal WAY too much about this corrupt shampeachment and Democrat modus operandi in general. Or they’d have to lie and hope they got away with it. Pleading the fifth on the stand isn’t going to hell their case against President Trump who is being impeached for not providing them information so they could find out if he’s guilty!
