I went to Costco yesterday. Was crowded but not insane. We got all our usual stuff, they were out of water and paper towels and TP, but they had pallets of Gatorade! I remembered what was said about sick people using that to hydrate so i stocked up.

Anybody who can't do a 24-48 hour fast needs to work on it. It's actually not easy if you're used to the American 24/7 access to (bad) food, but it's very beneficial, even if you just do a 16 hour fast multiple times a week. As long as you get fluids w/ a few calories you can survive almost indefinitely. It puts your body into repair mode and besides losing pounds it strengthens your immune system and reduces cell/chromosomal damage.

I do the same, 16 hours then straight to lunch is doable on a regular basis, 24-48 hours is quite harder. But i have friends (couple) who only eat every other day (except for a few nuts here and there maybe). They both seem pretty healthy and - of course - pretty thin.

I started intermittent fasting last year and lost 20 pounds. I didn't even think I was fat or had that much weight to lose. All I have done is cut out breakfast and do 16 hour most days and try to do a 20 hour on Fridays. It is the easiest thing in the world to maintain. I still eat a fair amount of carbs and drink heavy IPAs and eat pizza. Basically, whatever I can fit in my pie-hole in my eating window.

The weight loss is great, but all of the additional health benefits are better. I definitely have more muscle mass and palpably feel stronger with more energy on long runs and surfing.

Guys I share an office with both fast and I see it working. After 28 I've always been a 12hr faster. Was about to try some 18s or 24hr Sunday but now I think my corona virus diet will do the trick.
