Bad publicity is better than none. I suspect this may have been intentional if it's his first offense by age 46. Usually drinkers rack them up by that time.

Hunter Biden Is A Real Piece of Work!

Hunter is desperately trying to avoid showing the court he made a lot of money for being a son of a Vice President. The corruption of the Bidens will be clear.

This embarrassing shit will hit the fan and splatter his father, ruining his chances in November.

Addendum: Hunter just settled, he won’t be going to court to divulge his dirty secrets to embarrass his father Joe.

I think reps are holding a ton of ammo back until Biden is locked in. Dems have blown there wad on Trump real and made up they have nothing left.

Holding it? It is being freely stored in the public domain for all the see....free of charge for the GOP. That's the beauty of all this. The ads write themselves.

True but it hasnt been used in ads much and I'm sure there is more info that we haven't even heard about being saved up. Hunter is a total Fuck up. Bet there are stories about him killing dogs or something like hucklberries kid.
109120   SunnyvaleCA   2020 Mar 11, 2:36pm

I have a hunch that Hunter is guilty of money laundering, tax evasion, and failing to register as a lobbyist for a foreign country. Those were Paul Manafort's crimes. Oh... and Manafort was also found guilting of working for Trump campaign, so that's at least one thing that might protect Hunter. However, if Hunter has to testify publicly, it'll be hard for the injustice department to look the other way.

The US population is over 5 x larger than Italy's. Better to compare cases per one million, wrt the US is far far away from the Italy situation, Italy has 206 cases per million and the US 4 per million. But the US is much stricter wrt responding to possible outbreaks and has been reacting much faster, so select school closures have already been enacted and more may follow. Still besides the coastal areas it's unlikely that CV will gain a foothold, that's why the flyover states have hardly any cases. Of course the majority of people live by the crammed coasts. CA has been doing better the past days, It's Washington and New York that have the biggest outbreaks as of now.

Not tourists, but ... have you been to silicon valley? Did you know, for example, that United Airlines' biggest corporate customer is Apple? Apple has dozens of employees coming and going to China every day. http://www.frequentbusinesstraveler.com/2019/01/apple-is-united-airlines-largest-customer-annual-spend-is-150-million/

That's where exponential growth greatly levels the playing field. From day 8 to day 12 (4 days), Italy reported 3x the total infected according to the chart. That's a daily exponential growth rate of antilog(log(3)/4) = 1.316x . So, it'll only take on log(5) / log(1.316) days for the US to grow to 5x larger number of infect. That's 5.86 days.
109126   MisdemeanorRebel   2020 Mar 11, 5:40pm

Death rate is also higher in Italy.

True but the US hasn't had any growth beyond 25% in the past days, many of those are likely early infections finally showing up in the stats. The quarantines and shutdowns were just enacted a couple day ago, so there's a bit of a lag, so 25% growth is not much compared to Italy's 3x during the ramp up. Also the US is not densely populated like most of Europe, if you enact strong measure on the coasts that should do the trick. The flyover states have hardly any infections.

8 more months to go - repubs will make this a slow, painful dribble. In any debates, Trump will crush Biden. But the media will show polls showing how "close" the race REALLY is. Because polls are soooooo reliable.

I think it’s likely that the numbers are down in the United States because of the lack of testing. Widespread testing is just starting now in Seattle, I expect it’s very likely that there will be a very rapid increase in the number of confirmed cases in Washington and throughout the country. I think that the rate of increase of confirmed cases has more to do with the rate of increase in testing then it has to do with the rate of increase of exposure and infection with the virus.

That's true but we have enough kits in the bay area now and the cases haven't increased much lately though there are a a few here and there daily. I'd say by now easily 25%-50% of workers in the bay area are workng from home.

Age distribution Italy vs. US

Italy over 65 population: 22.75%

US over 65 population: 15.81%

https://www.statista.com/statistics/270473/age-distribution-in-italy/
https://www.statista.com/statistics/270000/age-distribution-in-the-united-states/

Age matters, but I think the distribution of fatties and smokers is probably most relevant. US is probably fatter, but my guess is that Italy has a higher percentage of smokers, which makes a respiratory illness more dangerous to Italy.

Good excuse for you smokers out there to quit. As a former smoker I can tell you the quality of life on the non-smoking side is much better.

Yes but 99 percent of the US is absent Chinese tourists. That's not the case with Italy. Apparently, if you go to Italy...you see nothing but Asians.

I’d like a test but fat chance of that happening! The CDC is going to have egg on its FACE for years over this!
The infection rate is probably several orders of magnitude larger than they’ve tested.
