I find this OP useful for explaining our current economy. Sorry folks, this shit is going to get real.

That's why this seems like bs water is cheap. People still spending $1.00+ for bottled water one of the biggest scams.

Bottled water is a joke. You can get your basic beer (not talking craft beers) here in IL for ~.50 per can which is mostly water with other ingredients that costs more to produce. No reason a 12oz bottle of water should be that much when you also factor in additional licensing requirements and fees for producing alcoholic beverages. And I'm not some green movement guy, but the plastic bottles are awful.

The content is usually good. I'm usually a gut instinct guy and look at what is going on around me type person. I live by a train and a decent sized, but non-commercial airport. I haven't heard the frequency of trains drop. Can't see how many cars are attached, but frequency is the same. Airport has the usual number of corp. jets sitting out. Lots more flight training going on for sure.

We'll see how this all balances out. One of my gut instinct indicators is a local lumber yard. That's one area of concern as you can physically see how much they have on hand when driving by. It's probably 50% less, but that could be for other reason. Most businesses in my area are operating as normal for the most part and are busy.

Besides my SIL who worked at a restaurant, I don't believe I know anyone that has been laid off. This won't be smooth and I don't think we're going to recover to the previous economy quickly. I just think it's not going to be as bad as some are predicting. July is going to be the month to watch as if I recall correctly, isn't that when the $600/wk for UE goes away?

The Costco businesses center (caters to small businesses especially restaurants) has never had more inventory. It is spilling out into the aisles. It appears supply is up and demand down for restaurant goods. There will be repercussions of this that have ripples throughout the economy. Many restaurants will close, and if they reopen with new owners remains to be seen.

The OP though is obviously a TDS patient.

Just a simple look around to world is all that is needed to see that water bottles are causing more pollution than just about anything else. If any disposable item as to be banned it should be them.

How could a poor person have a water bill more than 20 a month? My house with two small lawns, greenhouse, and dozens of fruit trees and all sorts of shit never goes above 35 in the summer in LA. A person in an apartment or really small house with no lawn should be next to nothing.

My usage-based costs range from $5 to $25/month, depending on irrigation. I water the front yard in the dry season (9 months a year).

The killer is the "fixed" cost aspects. You aren't allowed to have any water at all unless you also pay for sewage. My fixed cost sewage is something like $40/month. The fixed cost water is something like $20/month. So before the first drop of water I'm already out $60/month.

Add in the (required) garbage at $40/month for the minimum level of service and you're over $1k/year.

We all know they couldn't have that, because Trump would have gotten reelected.

America is fucked. Mobs and media won.
112193   Reality   2020 Jun 27, 8:12am

Tell that to the BLM mob.

While you are at it, also let them know, the overwhelmingly White idiots among the so-called "protesters" are only projecting their own racism because the overwhelming majority of Blacks actually want "All Lives Matter!" despite the criminal elements taking advantage of the BLM riot opportunity to loot. Black Americans are actually walking off the Slave Plantation that some Democrats want to keep them on.

Also, the overwhelming majority of black Americans are descendants of slave-owners, not just descendants of slaves. That's why black Americans have much lighter complexion than average Africans in Africa, and have 20 points higher IQ than African average despite a large number of the lightest skinned black Americans having "passed" to self-identify as whites in the past 100+ years. In a slave-owning society (whether 140+ years ago south of the Mason-Dixon Line or today in Communist countries), it is simply more advantageous for a slave girl to mate with the slave-owners (both white and black owners in antebellum South, and other races as in today's Communist countries) than to mate with average slaves (even among slaves, it was more advantageous to mate with those who were about to redeem themselves and possibly subsequently becoming owners).
112194   GreaterNYCDude   2020 Jun 27, 8:55am

If one is not properly clothed and fully representative of what God would want them to appear like...

God made us in his image. Adam and eve were originally naked.. in fact the reason why God knew they are of the forbidden fruit (other than the fact he is all knowing) was the fact that man hid from God because he was ashamed of his nakedness. Being a just God he at least clothed man in animal skins before he threw him out of the Garden of Eden....

So based on a strict reading of Genesis (Gn 2:25, Gn 3:11, Gn 3:21) you have two options... go naked or wear animal skins... a suit and tie is certainly not allowed!

In blue states the water bills have gone up the most dramatically and that’s due to pensions of workers and hiring of too many people and also punitive pricing to try to save the fucking smelt or whales or whatever.

In Baltimore City it's like ~$80/month for water just for one person who conserves water. The overwhelming majority of it is nuisance fees.

Agree race is a social construct, much of the rest like this for instance, "There is no genetic sequence unique to blacks or whites or Asians.", it utter BS.

112202   Ceffer   2020 Jun 27, 2:07pm

Psychology Today? Complete assertion fallacy claptrap. Medical professionals find it very useful to know race, because it indicates defined health trends in subgroups that can predict and guide treatment. There are ethnic groups that have genetics and predispositions based on racial and ethnic background, and syndromes that are peculiar to certain groups.

Ever heard of bankruptcy? I don’t see why this downturn is going to be worse then any other we’ve had in the US. Probably less bad since it’s 100% optional and can be stopped at anytime by admitting this is a cold not much worse then any other and opening up.

Anyways, back to your dominos point. Yeah, people who invested heavily in airlines are screwed right now. Should have bought amazon. The winners will win, the losers will lose and capital will be redistributed efficiently to businesses that are working. Why is the beauty of capitalism so hard for liberals to understand? I think it’s because deep down inside liberals want a participation trophy and think no one should ever lose no matter how bad their choices.

Anyways, keep up the good work fear mongering. Hope we get another drop. I will be buying because last I checked people are still having babies and people are still inventing shit.
112204   HeadSet   2020 Jun 27, 5:05pm

There are no genes that make black people in the USA more susceptible to high blood pressure, just as there are no genes for particular kinds of cancers that can be assigned to only one racial grouping.

Sickle Cell Anemia

There is not a single biological element unique to any of the groups we call white, black, Asian, Latino,

Agree that skin color does not determine race, but bone structure does. There are black "Caucasians" in southern India, and "Mongoloids" skin color can range from white as snow to quite dark. Recently here in Williamsburg, they unearthed an early colonial era grave that contained finery and other trappings of a very rich individual. The archaeologist could tell from the skeleton that the man buried in it was Black.
112205   theoakman   2020 Jun 27, 6:02pm

My father used to be Neonatologist (prenatal care). The drug test is run automatically on the mothers for drugs. In most of the ones that came back positive for some sort of drug actively in their system, it was usually black. Infant mortality would only naturally be higher for a group that insists on getting their drink on and smoking weed during their pregnancy.

"This is going to be a terrible year. We all agree with that. Now, we can debate whether earnings are going to be down 30% or 40%, but they’re going to be down a ton. The real debate should be about what will happen over the next three, four, five years. How much of this damage is permanent? And how much is transitory? That’s a healthy discussion to have. And when you have the discussion, what happens is, you discover that there are some businesses where the damage is permanent. The cruise-line business. It’s never going to go back to a pre-crisis valuation for good reason. But I’ll make it broader. I think infrastructure businesses [airlines and telecommunications], especially ones with a lot of debt, are going to be permanently marked down after this crisis because people have learned that these companies are very fragile. They are not designed to live through a crisis like this one."

Go look at the web cameras at https://www.visitpanamacitybeach.com/webcam/

Who got fucked coming out of 2008, renters and cash holders. Whose gonna get fucked this time or the next time, renters and cash holders. Why? Because the Fed, MMT and politicians know only one thing INFLATION.

Housing is just another asset like gold, bitcoin, etc. that acts as an inflation hedge. Housing is very local and you need to know what you're doing, but if you think the Fed is going to double or triple the debt and assets are going to go down then your not playing the game right.

And if your betting on the whole "50% crash, then I'll buy", good luck, I'm sure you have been waiting for 15 years and are probably just risk adverse and will never buy.

Just to expand on inflation, I was watching the 1991 film Point Break last night and in the movie before the last bank robbery, Utah was ordering food for him and his partner, 2 meatball sandwiches, 1 tuna sandwich and 2 lemonades, $7.30.... That's one coffee these days. Just like grandma said bread was $.05, inflation is a bitch and very real. Even if you're a constant crash person you'd better be in assets of some kind or else you're fucked long term i.e. just like all these rioters that own nothing, are disenfranchised, and are getting eaten away by inflation.

I'm on a St. George Island page (east of PCB as you probably know). You practically can't even get a vacation rental. People are begging on FB to see if there's been summer cancellations and a week opens up.

When you stop an entire industry, cruising, those people still want something to do. At any one time there were probably 20-30 ships cruising out of the US, with likely 80% American passengers. Probably at least 40k Americans cruising per week. They can't do that now. Where does that money go? American tourism. Not Canada, Tortola, Antigua, St. Lucia Aruba, Mexico, etc. Our spring break cruise got cancelled and we have $7-8k back in the vacation fund. The people that spend are more flush with cash than the doomsday people keep pumping.

If you like traveling domestically I'd get your plans in place now because prices are going to go through the roof on hotels, rental car, VRBO, etc. Europe is planning on keeping a US to EU ban in place I heard till at least August. The amount of money due to no one having less of it, for the most part, is going to be funneling back into America this summer instead of foreign travel. And yes, we lose foreign tourist, but we'll easily make that up.

1) Very good post, DHolliday.

2) What is your view on government-reported inflation like CPI ?

3) I checked https://dqydj.com/sp-500-return-calculator/
It shows an annual inflation rate of 1.8% over the last 11 years, and a 2.2% rate since January 2000. The S&P 500 grew 5.9% since January 2000 to present day with dividends reinvested.
