"Wolf Blitzer didn't mock Trump's birther beliefs on air?"

Of course they did. They don't report fake news.

Which officials did CNN speak with? Unnamed, Unprovenced sources again? How can I take unidentified people at their word?

How come Clapper (to CYA most likely) just distanced himself and the intel community from the veracity of these nonsense Word Documents?

Clapper and Trump both have confirmed the story is true. So, let's try again. What is fake?

And Clapper didn't distance himself at all. He said they are still investigating.

Did you find that fake CNN story yet?

CNN's reporting on a Fake News Rumor, on a document that even David Corn at Mother Jones rejected as Over The Top Nonsense weeks ago, along with claims they interviewed unknown people at unknown times about the content, is here:

Nope. Try again. CNN reported that intel officials briefed Trump about Russia potentially having compromising materials on him. That is ALL true.

CNN has reviewed a 35-page compilation of the memos, from which the two-page synopsis was drawn. The memos have since been published by Buzzfeed. The memos originated as opposition research, first commissioned by anti-Trump Republicans, and later by Democrats. At this point, CNN is not reporting on details of the memos, as it has not independently corroborated the specific allegations. But, in preparing this story, CNN has spoken to multiple high ranking intelligence, administration, congressional and law enforcement officials, as well as foreign officials and others in the private sector with direct knowledge of the memos.

(Notice the lack of conclusion here in CNN's convo wth anonymous 'officials' - ie asscovering. This way CNN can say "Oh, we didn't say the sources told us they were legit or not. Pushing the rumor).

What has changed since then is that US intelligence agencies have now checked out the former British intelligence operative and his vast network throughout Europe and find him and his sources to be credible enough to include some of the information in the presentations to the President and President-elect a few days ago.
On the same day that the President-elect was briefed by the intelligence community, the top four Congressional leaders, and chairmen and ranking members of the House and Senate intelligence committees -- the so-called "Gang of Eight" -- were also provided a summary of the memos regarding Mr. Trump, according to law enforcement, intelligence and administration sources.

This is an attempt to legitimize this nonsense, plain and simple.

79279   MisdemeanorRebel   2017 Jan 12, 12:38pm

Yes, we've never had the Press carry the water of insiders before.

Michael Cohen met with Russian operatives in Prague, just like Muhammad Atta met with Iraqi Agents in Prague not long ago.

OK, let me rephrase that . They hacked and used it to influence our election.

In a country with free speech there are always people trying to disrupt and influence. It has always been the case.
But we are now in a world where any foreign country can run web sites and publish information directly to your citizen, by-passing any establishment press.
The first answer to that is to first be more transparent, more truthful, and more honest - so that your acts and words are not so easily turned against you.

79281   MisdemeanorRebel   2017 Jan 12, 12:46pm

I'm actually wrong, this isn't Fake News so much as Black Propaganda. Put out rumors, encourage the distribution of rumors, preferably while distancing yourself from the rumors your peddle to deligitimize the regime you wish to overthrow. Complete with frequent reference to unnamed sources within ... you guessed it... the intelligence community, whose major responsibilities include destabilization and coups against regimes they don't like.

The Chicken has come home to Roost.

And the Media is willingly participating. This is not surprising: Court historians gonna court historian; disgruntled Nobles gonna grumble and destablize.

Nothing in that is even remotely fake. They added to their original story since the cat was out of the bag with Buzzfeed. For god's sake, even Clapper will only say that they are still investigating. What would you have CNN report?

"This is an attempt to legitimize this nonsense, plain and simple."

No, the intelligence services legitimized it by putting it in the briefing. CNN is simply reporting on that fact. If you want to complain that the intelligence services should never have put it in their briefing, that's a legitimate point of view. But calling CNN fake is not.

The left used to project Obama as some grand master chess player-what was that 8th dimensional chess. But no, it is Trump who is the master chess player. The next few years are going to be fun-the lefties are doubling and tripling down and don't even realize they are being played. Couldn't happen to a nicer bunch-this will be fun.

Did Trump's press circus treat Buzz' and CNN the same, or differently?
Why do you think that is?

If the media is intent on taking down Donald Trump or discrediting him, they shouldn't resort to clinging to fake stories that are so far fetched....they are ridiculous. This is the reason he was elected in the first place. People are sick of the crap from the press and Washington.

The "media" didn't. Buzzfeed, which hardly qualifies, is the only one that printed it.

But, the intelligence community thought enough of the story to include it in their briefing to Trump (and Obama). So, if anyone is to blame, it's them.

First, it's not "the media" ... let's be really clear. Obama and Trump were briefed on intelligence, of which was an unsubstantiated report. That report got leaked (Thanks McCain!) to the press. CNN reported on those happenings. BuzzFeed did that AND published the report itself.

I think Trump has a large volume of enemies on the hill, an antagonistic relationship with the press, FBI, and CIA, as well as a country in which more people voted against him than for.

If you think just the press fired this shot, you are so so wrong.

I think the Trump administration needs to learn that when someone pushes you into a puddle of piss, you don't stomp and splash up and down in it, like an angry 3 year old. That's a lesson, by every indication I see of Trump, that will never be learned.

Comedy gold and people WILL believe it. If the election taught you anything, you should know that. That is probably why Trump is so ... pissed. Hahahaha.

Dictatorships and royalty go there, not democracies.

This will be one of the most corrupt democracies of our nation's history. It is an administration which will use the term "Constitution" to score points for its image without actually understanding or defending it. It's built on personal hubris and ego, not bigger American ideals, inspiration, or working to bring out the best in people. It's an administration built on anger, fear, and ignorance.

Someday down the road, those little sparks of antiestablishment and anti-elitist sentiment will be replaced by a very sad realization. The Trumpets will wake to a far worse economy, less civil liberties, and a far worse foreign policy, with allies who no longer look at the US as an example or world leader.

American exceptionalism was dragged by the unwashed masses through the gutter this election cycle. There is nothing to cheer about here.

In a dictatorship you would not even be allowed to voice that opinion. Only time will tell the success Trump achieves in the next 4 years. The fact is, he has mustered up the confidence the country needs, which Obama was never able to do.

Other example: take European countries like France. This is a country where Reagan's philosophy is universally scorned.
Everything the democrats ever wished to do is there on display. The rich are taxed like 70% of their earnings. Single payer healthcare. High minimum wage. Generous pensions. Minimum revenue for the poor. etc,etc,...
Yet there too, standards of living for the middle class sank, or stagnated at best, for the past 35 yrs.
What happened?
