Our Government makes me want to be a better Scum bag.
There's a gold mine in being a greedy prick, and we're all suckers.

TOT,
Would be hilarious if it weren't so true. Clearly you have keen eye for business. Has Goldman called to offer you a job yet?
We could all stand to be better scumbags I guess if we want to survive.
"There's an old saying in Tennessee — I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee — that says, fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can't get fooled again." —President George W. Bush, Nashville, Tenn., Sept. 17, 2002
How long are we going to be fooled into believing the nice guys don't finish last?
I'm not advocating anyone be a scumbag, just loosing my ability to get outraged when people do act like a scumbag. Scumbags are just trying to keep up with the Joneses, Goldman Sachs and our "leaders." Corruption is becoming a virtue when it reaches so high and works so well that it is the only way to prevent yourself from being overrun by the powers that be. I would even argue that those who abuse the welfare system are not to blame for their behavior, they know the score and make their choices based on reality. Why work for a living when your labor is undervalued, your earnings are undervalued, the paper money you earn continues to lose value and the taxes you pay and prices you pay continue to rise?
Can I get the system to work for me too? I'm getting tired of living in a dog eat dog world and wearing the milkbone underwear of morality.

None of this add any value and only serves to divide our country.

I'm sorry you feel that way. It is called a joke. I would like to think that even Mr. Bush is able to laugh about it now. It is only divisive because you have decided that it is.
I have decided we can laugh at both Republicans and Democrats (not that it should make any difference because for the most part neither party is, has or will do anything to make our nation a better place to live). In fact I think the best thing the Dems and Repubs could do is disband and give someone else a chance to ruin/run things for a while.

Thanks, actually I've always been funny (looking at least), but that doesn't always come across in black and white letters.

Bull Crap! it was not gaffe, he was a dumb as a bucket of shit. And Karl Rove should have never forced Bush to remember and recite idioms. It was a painful outcome for all, every damn time. This wasn't one time it was every time. Reading children books was taxing enough.
Actually, ya'll - I was referring to the comment that was a bastardization of the comment made by Norm on "Cheers:"

The Bush quote was amusing, but only because he's a dumbshit whose daddy paved the way to his presidency. Along with president cheney, who held more power that did george (and has the balls to criticize the Obama administration for policies that were implemented during the bush/cheney administration). But a few other quotes of george bush:
"Brownie, you're doing a heck of a job." --George W. Bush, to FEMA director Michael Brown, who resigned 10 days later amid criticism over his job performance, Mobile, Ala., Sept. 2, 2005
"I don't think anybody anticipated the breach of the levees." --on "Good Morning America," Sept. 1, 2005, six days after repeated warnings from experts about the scope of damage expected from Hurricane Katrina
"You know, one of the hardest parts of my job is to connect Iraq to the war on terror." --interview with CBS News' Katie Couric, Sept. 6, 2006
"I know what I believe. I will continue to articulate what I believe and what I believe -- I believe what I believe is right." --Rome, Italy, July 22, 2001
"I'll be long gone before some smart person ever figures out what happened inside this Oval Office." --Washington, D.C., May 12, 2008
"You work three jobs? ... Uniquely American, isn't it? I mean, that is fantastic that you're doing that." --to a divorced mother of three, Omaha, Nebraska, Feb. 4, 2005
"Rarely is the questioned asked: Is our children learning?" --Florence, South Carolina, Jan. 11, 2000

I remember that. Not because his words were so profound.
Because it was that particular speech I realized, his eyes never apologized for his stupidity. You know that filter that kicks in, just milliseconds after you make a blunder, or an incredibly stupid fau pas, Bush was missing that enzyme.
Ellie,
Bush may be a bastard but I think Norm was a fairly decent guy. I wonder about Vera though.
She stuck with him for years, even tho he spent at least half an hour every Thursday night with millions of other people. He never showed her face to us, even though everybody knew her name.

Most people were unaware that when Brownie resigned he became a consultant at a greatly increased cost to you & me.
Bush was a great man who achieved something that none of us ever will. I am sure he did what he thought was right for our country.

That is the funniest thing I've read in years. Thanks for a great laugh.

Supreme Court upholds eminent domain case. Taking private citizens land for private development. Now the land sits vacant. Your tax dollars and "leaders" at work. The best part of this article is the line at the end. "Economic development that relies on the long arm of the government will never be the kind to create sustainable growth." In other words, using government to allocate resources is perhaps the least efficient way to do so.
Another case of Government Gone Wild.
