Obama is acting upon his campaign promises to increase funding for AFGHAN and reduce involvement in IRAQ. Lets see how this plays out, hopefully he has reducing troop involvement next on his agenda.
It has been 1 year people.
If are real enemy is the "Taliban" than why do we never hear any mention of Mullah Mohammed Omar who is the actual leader of the Taliban? Like Osama bin Laden he sits in Pakistan and sends out press releases for eight years while we spin our wheels fighting in Afghanistan and make absolutely no effort to capture or kill him.
The FBI does not even consider Mullah Omar to be a terrorist. He is not even on their
most wanted terrorist list. That seems pretty strange when we are supposedly fighting a "war on terror" against him.
It seems mighty strange that we are constantly locating low level Taliban and Al Qaeda "leaders"
hiding in Pakistan and blowing them up with Hellfire missiles but we never seem to get a lead on the guys who really run the show. Why all this effort to destroy the flunkies and ignore the
command and control structure? What kind of military strategy is that?
Since Obama wants to be like Franklin Roosevelt why doesn't he order an assassination mission
like Roosevelt did on Admiral Yamamoto in world war 2? Now there was a
liberal democrat who knew how fight a war.
We will be getting a bigger better war  now that Obama has repeated  the lie that the Taliban "refused" to turn over Osama bin Laden as the continuing justification for letting bin Laden run free in Pakistan while we spend billions bombing irrigation ditches and mud huts in Afghanistan.
The Taliban  clearly told us they would turn Osama over if we provided them with hard evidence that he was
involved in the 9/11 attacks. Bush and Colin Powell both claimed that we had such evidence but to this day nobody has ever seen it. This evidence does not appear anywhere in the 9/11 Commission report where they admit that they relied totally on statements obtained by water-boarding and thus inadmissable in any US court.
Even the FBI has never seen this "evidence" which is why they do not even mention
9/11 on their official wanted posters for Osama bin Laden. They have a separate website for the 9/11 attacks called "penttbom" and it does not mention Osama bin Laden at all.  As far as the FBI is concerned they only want Osama bin Laden for the 1998 African Embassy bombings. The war in Afghnistan was the direct result of Bush not being able to provide any proof against bin Laden not any refusal by the Taliban to turn him over. Yet we make war on the "uncivilized" Taliban because they wanted us to live by the same rules of evidence we would require in any court case. If the FBI does not buy the claim that Osama bin Laden was responsible for 9/11 why should the Taliban punished for eight years for simply agreeing with our own Federal Bureau of Investigation?
