The article above says that people who dial 911 will be either charged $300 per call, or they can opt to pay a $48 a year subscription fee. So the question needs to be asked, when your trying to get aid for someone else, like a house across the street on fire or serious car accident, do you get charged $300? I for one would think twice about calling, let someone else call, which would proably mean no one would call. I predict the number of preventable deaths would increase considerably as a result of this policy. 911 calls may go way down, but at what cost?

Actaully I can see it now, like a phone sex line, a vioce would inform you that if you don't want to be charged $300 for this call, Hang up now! If this is an actual emergancy and you would like to say on the line, please have a major credit card ready and an operator will happy to take your call.

Traffic lights use up a lot of power, too. Very costly. How about instituting odd and even days?
