FWIW, I haven't seen or heard any "racial" remarks in any of the Tea Party pics and clips I've seen.
But I don't Google for them, or read every Liberal (or Rightwing for that matter) Blog.
Other than what you guys post here I don't see the stuff you guys keep throwing out there. Which every movement has the lowest common denominator.
I mean by this lots view on all of the Tea Partiers,(Baggers) then Acorn was nothing but a Brothel front.
I mean hey face it, there's Video of ACORN officials setting up a corners and turf. Does that incident encompass ACORN as a whole?
And Patrick if I'm not mistaken, you were a strong Ron Paul supporter, based soley on him being for smaller much smaller Government, to the point, that post suggests.
Say what you want about the Teaparty the Teabaggers, ect...
But just know, not all of these peoples are Dolts you guys make them out to be. Now to say you have issues with the Leadership of the Tea Party, is one thing. But to ridicule the people going to these rallys, does more to undermine your efforts than it thwarts the Tea Party leadership. Chided and Chasted constituents don't covert easy.
I've seen a tea party up close & personal, many of the participants were peaceful protesters. But I also saw about a quarter of them holding racist signs and saying some nasty things about pretty much anyone who disagreed with them. Anyone who claims that they're grass roots, that they're not manipulated and sponsored by Faux news, is deeply in denial. I find it sad that the pundits are making tons of money from the people who are in desperate need - those are the ones buying their books & t-shirts.
The "leaders" of the tea-parties are the pundits and the owner of Faux News, who is making money from the rage that they encourage. They are woefully out of touch with the normal, average guy. It's sad to see them self-promote through anger.
Same thing with the leaders of the parties, and our political representatives. I'm sick of everything being split down party lines. If there was a fire in the senate or congressional chambers, I wonder if they'd help each other out of there or if they'd pick & chose along party lines. I suspect it would be the latter.
I could have used this post over the past 10 years before I even heard of this current Tea Party Movement. I can't tell you how many times I've gotten into convo's regarding how best to make our country better. Many discussions about enabling others to be lazy by providing too many bennies. I can't tell you how many people I've met that believe there should be NO social safety nets meaning no welfare, no public schools, no Medicare/Medicaid, no SS because if you are so poor and have such a god-awful life you will find a way to improve it because we are in the land of opportunity, you know. With next to zero $$$ that you will be paying in taxes the economy will flourish and charity contributions will spike because Americans are so generous!?!?!
I personally think we are too greedy of a culture to give sufficient amounts to charity to cover all of our needs. And these past decade is a perfect example: give people cheap, easy money and look what they do with it!
Did you all see this survey in the NYTimes: http://www.nytimes.com/2010/04/15/us/politics/15poll.html
It's quite interesting. A few clips in case you don't wanna read a NY Times piece.
A plurality do not think Sarah Palin is qualified to be president, and, despite their push for smaller government, they think that Social Security and Medicare are worth the cost to taxpayers.
...
The overwhelming majority of supporters say Mr. Obama does not share the values most Americans live by and that he does not understand the problems of people like themselves. More than half say the policies of the administration favor the poor, and 25 percent think that the administration favors blacks over whites — compared with 11 percent of the general public.
...
“I just feel he’s getting away from what America is,†said Kathy Mayhugh, 67, a retired medical transcriber in Jacksonville. “He’s a socialist. And to tell you the truth, I think he’s a Muslim and trying to head us in that direction, I don’t care what he says. He’s been in office over a year and can’t find a church to go to. That doesn’t say much for him.â€
...
And nearly three-quarters of those who favor smaller government said they would prefer it even if it meant spending on domestic programs would be cut.
But in follow-up interviews, Tea Party supporters said they did not want to cut Medicare or Social Security — the biggest domestic programs, suggesting instead a focus on “waste.â€
Some defended being on Social Security while fighting big government by saying that since they had paid into the system, they deserved the benefits.
Others could not explain the contradiction.
“That’s a conundrum, isn’t it?†asked Jodine White, 62, of Rocklin, Calif. “I don’t know what to say. Maybe I don’t want smaller government. I guess I want smaller government and my Social Security.†She added, “I didn’t look at it from the perspective of losing things I need. I think I’ve changed my mind.â€
“A conservative is a man who has plenty of money and don’t see any reason why he shouldn’t always have plenty of money.â€
Will Rogers
“Liberals feel unworthy of their possessions. Conservatives feel they deserve everything they’ve stolen.â€
Mort Sahl
I was annoyed by one of these anti-tax people on the way out of fred meyer this afternoon. I guess they're trying to get a disasterous CA-style 2/3rds majority for passing tax increases.
I asked the guy if they were going to also require a 2/3rds majority for raising spending, or if they were going to require that spending be properly funded, or that tax cuts be combined with spending cuts. He said "no, this is just about taxes".
The "small government" people are full of shit. They just don't want to pay taxes. If they cared about small government, they'd be holding spending revolts, not tax revolts, and they'd be carrying signs demanding an end to medicare, social security, and the wars.
Quite frankly, I'd gladly see an end to the three big spending components of our government, because I think all three are broken. Since I know that isn't going to happen, I'd rather see those three programs properly funded.
Hmmm, tomorrow there's a group meeting up in the park near the White House with weapons. On April 19th. 4/19, why does that seem familiar.... some dude named McVeigh I think....

How could you possibly equate Tea Party people with Timmy? I mean, yeah, they believe the exact same things and espouse the exact same paranoia that he did, but they're not like him. Clearly Timmy was a secret government agent who committed terrorist acts in order to discredit the patriot movement. If he was a real terrorist, he'd have a beard.
I'll be holding my own party at 4:20. :)
Aw, someone had to say it...
hahahaha, Ellie Mae, those 4:20 'earth day' signs are up every where in Portland;O)
What I find interesting in regards to trusting the government, protests, etc is that in general Conservatives have little problem trusting their government with foreign affairs, ie WAR!, but when it comes to domestic policy heck no, 'they are leading us down the wrong path!' And the same can be said for Liberals, in general but vice versa.
If Tea-bagger Palin were in Somalia they would have stoned her daughter.
Whoa, it is an anti-tea party lefty support-group love fest with ellie, vicente, kevin, leigh, and mickey re-affirming their self-worth because of their superior moral position.
The pictures speak for themselves.
The pictures say people know how to use photo shop and take pictures.
They don't tell me if they are true or not.
I remember after the Chinese Olympics people were posting pictures they got from a blog that got from Google, of signs of Mal worded signs, most of them were photo shop alters.
Again though note the first picture, the sign directly over his head.
Liberals are so far out of touch that you choose to group everyone as a whole based on a the outspoken, and not the silent angry ones that are obviously listening to this extreme right wing rhetoric. Why? Oh maybe they are taking their chances over the Extreme Left bipolarization that is going on in Washington.
Both Parties are Off their Meds, lets be perfectly clear here.
All I'm saying, you're not going to win that other 80-90%, that aren't racist ignorant inbreds over by calling them as such, while not at least acknowledging the follies of this administration. There's no common ground other wise. This 2 party system you guys demanded, is poised to bite you in the ass.
NOW you want to call the other party a bunch of Nimka Poops.
Democracy making, sure is hard work ain't it?
It's amazing how conservatives project fear onto Liberals. I'm learning so much about conservatism. Naming qualities that exist within yourself and claiming that these qualities belong to others and not in you is called "projection."
I'll quote a famous Liberal, "We have nothing to fear but fear itself." - Franklin Delano Roosevelt
The politics of fear and division are the politics of the conservatives. We Liberals prefer embracing others.
The Tea Party is basically a group of angry white people who can't believe that we have elected an African American president. What do you think "We want our country back" means? It means that these people live in constant fear of becoming the minority, which is happening at an ever increasing rate. Being "American" no longer means "being white." That scares these people and unites them in fear. Fear is the root of anger. It's easy to stir fearful people into anger and then rage. It's a dangerous political game that the Tea Party is playing. Our country has a sad history of political assassinations and violence. Almost exclusively the culprits are conservatives who fear change (Kennedy (s), Lincoln, etc.). Lincoln was killed because fearful angry conservative white people in the south didn't want their former slaves, who happened to be black, free. That was a consequence of the Civil War. Lincoln was simply taking away the means of production and wealth for the South. It turned out that by doing that, he gave certain human beings their rights back while the whites lived in fear of backlash from the people they formerly enslaved.
Today Obama is a sign of an America that is emerging. It's an America where whites are no longer the majority and people are moving beyond the shackles of racism to advance to the highest positions in our country. That's threatening to white people who have controlled the Presidency since our country was founded. Fear unites the Tea Party people. It's fear of the non-whites taking their rightful place as equals in the United States of America. The Civil War was really all about the fear that non-whites would become the majority in southern states where they were the majority if they were free and counted as "people." The White Secessionists then wanted to preserve their place at the top of society realizing that they were outnumbered. They seceded and formed the Confederate States of America and started a war in order to enshrine their place as masters over people who had dark skin and were stolen from Africa and enslaved.
Today we have fearful angry white people who call themselves the Tea Party who really want to preserve their perceived place in American society. In this party there is talk of "revolution" "secession" and "rebellion." It is a uniquely conservative movement spawned from fear of those perceived as "other" because of the color of their skin, their religion, and/or ethnic origin.
The Tea Party movement is nothing but a replay of old white fear sweeping up those susceptible into uniting around the fear that "that black man" is going to remove them from their perceived "place" in society (at the top). It seems we aren't beyond race yet in this country. The election of Obama shows that the majority of Americans are trying to move beyond it. The Tea Party is trying to drag us backward, kicking and screaming to a time where non-whites should fear for their lives, security, health, freedom, and wealth.
I am having trouble infiltrating Tea Party sites to find photos and information on solutions to our nation's problems. No one is accepting my 'join now' app.
Any way, since I can't get on these sites maybe Ten Ounce Trout can tell me what Palin and others are offering for solutions or is it just rabble rousing?
