Besides, most men want to sleep with as many women as they could, yet they still consider adultery a sin.
Opposition to open relationships stems from the times before it was possible to figure out who the father was. It was actually men who were against it. Simply put, the men did not want to raise and support someone else's children!
The natural ratio of men to women is damned close to 1:1. Polygamy leaves a large number of beta males with none. Those men will have three choices:
1) Homosexuality
2) Abstinence
3) Fight the Beachmaster:
How long do you think the beachmaster will last when the young men have access to modern weaponry?
Say your prayers old man!

Yet another reason to legalize prostitution.
Besides, most people have some homosexual tendencies. If the society is more tolerant, it will become an attractive option too.
If your value system is the only obstacle, it should be seen as good news. All it takes is a modification to your beliefs. You have everything it takes to improve your life. You should rejoice.

Tapes? Not seminars? :-)

Oh yeah, seminars are better. That way the Triple Diamond can charge you for the weekend and you can't make copies. We're all gonna be rich, if we don't engage in Stinkin' Thinkin'.

People are geared for monogamy - with cheating. And there was pretty rapid turn over in the mates department for Early Humans. Tiger attack, knee scape gets infected, death in childbirth...
Alpha Males are often the eldest, most charismatic hunter that's still young enough to lead - not necessarily the biggest male. It's also why women prefer older, tested males - as well as those many wives or lovers - they've demonstrated their ability to survive and all those other women can't be wrong.
Women judge men by men's own standards, so if men all respect one hunter, he'll be the top dog every woman wants. Just like women love sports stars, even though most of them don't know jack shit about sports. All men like the sports stars, so they must be the top dogs.
But alpha male has to pay a price in making sure everyone is happy and making everybody's success his business, a price that may damage his health over the long term - or his life if he leads the tribe poorly. IMHO there are too many beta males alive today for beta males to be so chosen against via evolution.
Today's wealthy don't pay the price of a lost war or economic catastrophe, that's where the natural order is breaking down.
You'll never see Poroshenko or the Koch Brothers leading an raider group or boundary patrol from the front.
I love zero sum games, because they are really games of people. A rational person would focus on winning the game instead of changing the game.

Ohhhhh....good one...
I love zero sum games. A rational person would focus on winning the game instead of changing the game.
As I said. So clearly articulated, and you can't even take it in.IT's not that you disagree with it. It's obvious and clearly stated fact, so you literally refuse to even comprehend it. You might as well have your fingers in your ears saying "lalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalal...I can't HERE YOU !"
Talk about programming.

Don't hate the player, hate the game.
As I said. So clearly articulated, and you can't even take it in.
Why would any rational person want to believe in that?
Don't hate the player, hate the game.
Huh? What about...
Love the player. Love the game. You owe it to yourself, your loved ones, and nobody else.
There will always be patsies. Find them. If you cannot, be humble and you will find "them."
It's obvious and clearly stated fact, so you literally refuse to even comprehend it.
Why bother? Even if it is true, it means nothing to me.
The greater good is achieved with selfish forces battling each other.

You mean believe that monopoly, oligarchy and aristocracy is bad ?
Because truth really does matter. It doesn't matter how many times you repeat your fantasies about how the world works, the real truth is still there. I agree that attitude and beliefs are very important. But they should incorporate the truth when possible, and certainly not deny the truth, based on some "think and grow rich" nonsense.

Any rational person would try to become a monopolistic oligarch by legal means.
A return to aristocratic ideals is welcomed.
The greater good is achieved with selfish forces battling each other.
That's total bullshit. It may indeed sometimes be true, but to believe that it always is ? You can only be a pathetic little troll.
Would Hitler, Pol Pot, and Idi Amin all be examples of selfish forces doing good in the world ? Does the fact that they were defeated, eventually mean that it's good that they came to power ? SOme kind of necessary evil ? I guess even genicide needs to be viewed in a positive light sometimes ?
Time for more deep thoughts by Jack Handy ?
Everyone should just go here instead of reading Peter Ps next comment.

Like everything metaphysical, truth may as well be a unicorn.

Some consider mathematics a truth. It is truly true. However, I see mathematics as a way to explore a tautology too big for us to comprehend at a glance.
Everything else is a matter of sensory perception. Here, being fuzzy has its advantages.
selfish forces doing good
Has to be modified with, the non aggression principle. AKA the rule of law to some degree.
Do not confuse selfish forces with the battle of selfish forces.
The defeat of such dictators was a case in point.

I'm sure the millions of innocent civilians who were slaughtered merely for being in the way would wholeheartedly agree their intense suffering was worth making your point.

Seriously? You have to invoke Jack Handey to counter my one-liners? I feel flattered. :-)

As I have said many time, life is a tragedy.
"To live is to suffer, to survive is to find some meaning in the suffering."
--Friedrich Nietzsche
Besides, Germany supported Hitler because they lacked self-interest. They were all too fired-up about making things "right."
Most dictators rose to power because of similar reasons.

I think he rose to power because he solved a financial problem for the German people

Still, his charisma had a lot to do with it, and charisma does not work well on selfish individuals.

"Right" in that regard was for the German people to claim their natural position as masters of the universe.
I think it is an important group dynamic in that people get stuck in traumatic experiences. They get confused so they look for something stable. Which was Hitler. Who could blame them WWl then hyper inflation their saving destroyed.
Similarly after Pearl Harbor people rallied around FDR, after 9/11 they rallied around Bush.
I'm sure the millions of innocent civilians who were slaughtered merely for being in the way would wholeheartedly agree their intense suffering was worth making your point.
They don't matter. If there were worth a damn, they would have been removed from the fighting, living in Palm Beach, reading the papers about it. Since they were dumb and largely poor, they deserved death.
Seriously? You have to invoke Jack Handey to counter my one-liners? I feel flattered. :-)
I don't have to, but your glib stupid comments that are supposedly profound remind me of some of the old Jack Handy stuff. It was funny, because it was as if he really thought they were profound.
And yes, I know glib doesn't imply stupid.

Poverty exists because of bad values. It is that simple. The majority of poor people think wealth is a sin. It is not surprising their moral high ground is a swamp.
It is all too human to find comfort in blame. As a result, the goal to lift oneself out of poverty is entirely forgotten. On the other hand, winners do not waste time with excuses.
Do you want to succeed? Or would you like to have the most beautiful, heart-wrenching story of your failure.
