Suing is an excellent method to fight Saudi terrorism without violence.
Start suing these countries that greet us with warm smiles and gold plated Rolls Royces, then sends Imam's millions to seek us out and kill us where we stand.
Remember Folks:
An ordinary citizen refusing to bake a cake for a lesbian wedding is evidence that White Trash Christian Theocracy is Systemic in America.
But a Major candidate taking $25+M from a country where executing gays is legal - and Roose Bolton style-lashes/prison time routine - and women need husband's permission to leave house and can only do so covered head to toe in a black sheet and can never, ever drive, and all other religions cannot built or use any center of worship -- all for Religious Reasons - why, that's perfectly acceptable.

Could we sue Mecca & Medina into oblivion?
it has been 15 years.
this bill must funded by the troubled US oil industry.
thunderlips11 is deplorable says
I've said it a thousand times and I'll say it again. Obama is just black Bush. Hillary is just Bush with a penis.
I'm not clear on how judgments would be enforced.
Let's say you sue the Saudi government and win.... And you are awarded millions of dollars.... How can a US court force the Saudi government to pay if they refuse? US courts have no power to make Saudis do anything. They cannot declare war.
Who would pay the legal fees? Contingency agreements don't work unless a judgment is collectable. Collecting from the Saudi goveenment isn't likely to be as easy as say a medical malpractice insurer. So if they won't take the case on contingency then the plaintiffs will have to pay the legal. Who would want to pay many tens of thousands of dollars for legal services in the hopes of winning an unenforceable judgment?
Seems like an expensive point to make.

Is it?
And if other countries around the world passed reciprocal legislation allowing "victims" of the US government to sue? The definition of victims being determined by their legal system, not ours. What we call collateral damage of war can easily be called victims of the US government by another country. The US military has conducted over 75 overseas operations in the last 25 years where people have been killed. God only knows how many black operations, special ops raids, and US funding of "feedom fighters" (defined as anyone who does what the US wants done). How many victims of US involved drug interventions around the world?
What about if saudi's dump anything of value in the US that could be attached by a court or billions of dollars in US bonds as they have already threatened to do. If the saudi's dump their US bond holdings many other countries will follow suit. The US government will be completely unable to fund it's operations without pretty much doubling income taxes.
The congress has the power and authority to investigate and order compensation for the victims of 9/11 if there is any actual direct culpability by the suadi government. Congress actually has an obligation to do so. Yet they are dumping it on the court system, which doesn't have the power of congress to investigate across state lines or order secret documents released or the power to deal with foreign governments.
This might turn out to be a very, very expensive and disastrous way to make what is essentially an empty gesture to score some political points for the 2016 election.

Total bullshit. The Saudis can only sell bonds if someone is willing to buy them. Secondly, what will the Saudis do with the money? Buy Venezuelan bonds, maybe.
All they can do is slowly divest from US bonds, so as not to disrupt the markets. As for other countries following suit.......who the hell cares.
Saudis selling bonds won't have any impact on the US government funding it's operations, because those bonds are already sold. Duh!
Remember folks, the Saudis need us more than we need them. It's time to stop kissing their butt, and start kicking it.

That would be a good thing, we would tighten spending and finally tackling the debt. Yes it will be painful, but better than being taken hostage by a nation openly hostile to us and diametrically opposed to all the Western values. I mean can you guys hear yourselves? Bow down before the one you serve! Pathetic.

They actually can and reinvest in plenty of other vehicles. May not be in their best interest, but it's a possibility that they will do this as retaliation. It would not have any impact on current operations, however it would hamper the ability of the US to issue new debt - which would be a good thing as the US is high and drunk on debt. Of course rates could spike and asset prices fall, but that's a GOOD thing as most of our asset prices are simply a result of leverage due to suppressed interest rates and their intrinsic value is far lower. That is true for most debt-financed assets.
We need to cut ties with the Saudis before they completely corrupt our government and infiltrate our population with jihadis. So it would cost us a bit economically. Worth it!

You do know that bonds are sold every day don't you? Bonds expire and new ones are sold. Duh! The debt is continually being renewed with new issues. We are borrowing to pay the interest on borrowing at this point. A big spike in rates because the price took a dump would make the current US debt pretty much unserviceable without huge tax increases.

Hey I agree with you. The saudis are scum working against us every day. But my point was it could really easily become very painful to shaft them. Much more painful than our politicians would be willing to bear. A hell of a lot more than tightening spending might be involved.
A lot of countries would like nothing more that some payback for all of the US arrogance the last 20 years or so. Be careful what you wish for you may get it. Like lawsuits against governments for people killed.
Seized assets.
Under whose authority? US courts (the law says this all falls under the US court system) don't have the authority to do that to entire countries or even citizens of other countries. So, after the person wins and gets his/her million dollar judgment that the Saudi government refuses to pay -- then you'd add an unenforceable lien on Saudi government property? I just see this as an exercise in futility that will ultimately be nothing more than a moral victory... An expensive moral victory.

There are quite a lot of assets and paper money in the US you can seize. And you can nullify the debt which is of course not without repercussion. But there should be plenty of assets to seize in the US.

But wait there's a trick to all this. http://www.nationalreview.com/corner/436003/justice-against-sponsors-terrorism-act-cruel-hoax
So our elected officials just pretended they would allow suing of the Saudi's. Amazingly enough right before an election. Who would have ever believed they would do such a thing?

They do have plenty of Ameircan assets.
Obama's excuse was setting a precedent. It's already been set: Many Americans have sued Germany, Switzerland, etc. for stealing shit in WW2 in US Courts.
I'm glad Obama has stepped into Campaigning for Hillary this now gives Trump an excellent opportunity to destroy him in context to campaigning rhetoric and lies.
Wait until Trump get's his meat hooks in this one and slams the Liberals over the head with it. There's going to be blood coming out of god knows where.
