I'm working on making it easy to spin up new clones of patrick.net under different domain names.

Anyone have a particular love of a topic and want to be a co-founder of a clone based on that topic? You'd be moderator-god, and own half of the rights to the domain name and the database (the source code would remain open source and available to the public for free). I do the tech, you do writing, moderation, and marketing.

The goal would be to build traffic and revenue (probably advertising) and then sell the thing ASAP, splitting the proceeds.

If you're interested, what topic would it be, and do you have a domain name to use?

#patnet

I tried many times, over the past few years, to start some discussions about Cannabis in this open air prison once known as the land of the free. I would have loved to have some discussions and opinions bounced about on the topic, but all Patrick.net has ever done is marginalize me for it. Your loss, not mine. In the past five weeks I’ve accelerated my timeline from retiring at forty, to possibly some time later this year.

Dude, he's offering the Pat.net style forum for FREE including Tech support.

Take it and start a "Profit off the coming Marijuana Boom" site.

I tease you sometimes because sometimes you come off as "Marijuana will save the world", but I would link articles and shit, even though I don't care much about weed though I think it should be legalized 100%.

Frankly I think it should be more like patrick.net/marijuana or patrick.net/thedonald or patrick.ne...

Here’s the thing pal. I’m a big boy with thick skin and a thicker skull.

I couldn’t give less a fuck if you take up an anti-American position because you think you’re teasing me. You can’t tease me. I’m unteasable.

Cannabis/Hemp Prohibition has far reaching implications, all of which are directly harmful to every citizen, past and present, and a spit to the face of Freedom.

No matter how far down the wrong path ‘they’ have taken on this issue, the only correct response is to walk it back immediately. I’ve never said that “Marijuana will save the World”. What I have said is that ending Prohibition is all benefits and no costs. So who the hell is running the War on Drugs, and why and how do they continue eith it?

What would a true MAGA response be to USFEDGOV hemp/cannabis Prohibition?

Where is the value in that?

Good Faith is dead here. Patrick Killelea has created an environment where if I pursue something like that here, I run the risk of the person behind the Sniper handle doxxing me and potentially using the Right Wing gov unionized gang of jackboots to actually harm me in the real world.

Remember Roberto Aribas?

Yea. No thanks

Do you see why I think your position is a little Over The Top sometimes? Most countries in the world, including in Europe, ban Marijuana - even if it's decriminalized it's not legal in most places.

Of Course the past regime against it is stupid. But it's not the pressing issue of the day in my opinion, by several country miles, and I don't think enforcing Federal Marijuana laws is the death knell of the Republic.

Yes, i am

Legalización is code for putting the economic rent stream on the books.

Why do you need the Federal Government to intervene with citizens who desire to cultivate flowers on their private property.

You do realize that hemp/cannabis Prohibition is less than a century old? What was going on early 20th century that required the USFEDGOV intervene with Prohibitions on Hemp and Cannabis?

Why did the Founding Fathers fail to safeguard us against the evils of Marijuana and Hemp, in the first place? Aside from the fact that they were pretty much all in the trade.

I’ve seen some Republicans claim that “the liberals “ ruined everything. Oh and that they enjoyed the benefit of consuming Cannabis in their home state. Thanks wholly to liberals fighting back against the Conservatives War against Americans.

But dude, seriously. The fact that the government can kick down your doors guns ablazing and if they’re trigger happy well you shouldn’t have been trying to remedy your ailments with flowers! So having your kids or dogs shot is your fault! And have your life ruined, all your assets seized, and ypur ass tossed in prison, it’s no big deal if the USFEDGOV keeps on with wasting taxpayers money on a war against Americans who love Freedom.

What’s really important is some inconsequential nonsense in Israel or Saudi Arabia. That’s what really matters to out of work America

Oh well at least all the jobless, voiceless, forgotten American factory workers can enjoy the stock market. If they get hubgry they can just eat their stock certificates!

Whatever you do @patrick, do not let the site fall by the wayside. You have done way too much good work to let that happen. Yes, my opinion is that mistakes have been made. Too much flip-flopping and failed experimentation(*), and a loss of editorial emphasis and consistency. And I think I have made clear what I think the recipe for success is, in my long list of suggestions on how to make Patnet great again. But do not let it be all for naught. I send my best hopes and wishes that Patnet will rise to greatness once again.

(*) Come to think of it, I can't help but think that the latest offer to fork a bunch of independent sites with separate masters and therefore separate and different editorial rules is just another experiment intended to see what works. Patrick, I have said before that you are like Marissa Mayer who always wanted to tweak the Google homepage and see what worked. The difference is that she had millions of users and it was easy to split-test small changes in separate populations. In the case of patnet, the changes that you want to test are much deeper and complicated than the appearance of the front page (a front page, which by the way is one of the basic strengths pf Patnet, in that website mobile-styling disease has been avoided). And needless to say, split-testing a discussion and information forum is a tricky proposition.

Here's to a happy 2018 and a rebirth of Patnet!

How does Legalization mean not interfering?

Anyways, pay attention to what Trump and his boy Sessions is doing. Not what I’d call not interfering.

@Patrick how much would it cost you to set up and maintain a site like this? I have an immediate need for a private forum, by invite only, to share best cyber-sales practices. If this is only a few $$$/month it may be a better option than a facebook group, etc...

Hi anon_4480e, bare-bones, it would cost something like $15 for the domain name per year and $20/month for the hosting costs.

Thanks @justme I will keep patrick.net pretty much what it is, but I think creating additional sites and having them focused by topic is the way to go. It was actually one of your suggestions that inspired me. You said a blog should have an editorial focus. What is the focus of this site now that it's not about the housing bubble?

Trump supporters want legalization? i'm calling bullshit

Why would people who claim to want limited government and personal freedoms, want the government involved in the dried flower business? Seems pretty strong handed and unnecessary to me

What's wrong with decriminalization?

As to the thread topic,

I don't know if it's a great idea overall Patrick. You have to watch out what you associate with your name, now that's it's all out there. Someone could start a very toxic sub-forum with very controversial stuff. Say it gets extremely popular, you could have a problem on your hands with such content associated with your name. I wouldn't expose myself to the risk honestly.

How can you keep the site as it is and also create all these other sites without diluting the entirety? This is already a site with a minuscule audience. How are a multitude of micro sites with next to no viewership going to grow? They will never get the necessary traffic.

A small site with a tight editorial focus will attract a narrow but devoted audience.

Don't know what happened, so I can't comment on that incident.

But I will say for the most part, you shouldn't put out so much personal info on the internet like Roberto was doing, and then on top of that, act antagonistically towards people who don't agree with you every other post. No a good recipe for your personal information not being abused.

So it’s Roberto fault that Sniper/CiC doxxed him at work with a fale gun threat.

Interesting angle

This is exactly how you bring down the quality of the forum and chase people off.

How about you prove me wrong by being respectful and civil? I don't think you can, which is why this forum is betyer w/o You.

However, I'll admit I underestimated you if you can type these words "I respect Trump supporters."

I'll start, i respect HRC supporters. See how easy being civil is? Now you try

The one thing that makes me certain that you guys are disingenuous as hell is because you never complained about CiC/Ironman/Sniper harassing people here, for years

Why do you think that is?
54   anonymous   2018 Jan 8, 11:28am

Problem is we have politics as entertainment here in america. People are personally identifying with politicians and painting on them as artists on blank canvass. However, I prefer sports and movies for "entertainment" to politics. And I am not the only one.
