And it's as even handed as you'd expect. ;)

The millennials Salon spoke to expect to see a grand societal shift in their lifetime, either toward socialism — a political and economic system in which the means of production are collectively and equally owned by everyone — or toward a sort of dystopian Mad Max nightmare in which resources have dwindled, rich plutocrats own everything, and ordinary people need to band together in small, autonomous communities to survive. To conservatives’ dismay, the modern idea of socialism, which has roots in Greek philosopher Plato but emerged as a popular political idea in the early 19th century among German radicals like Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels, has become increasingly popular among young people in the past several years, following Democratic Socialist Bernie Sanders’s underdog run for president and the authoritarian creep of the ultra-capitalist, anti-socialist Trump regime.

Obviously they’re self-selecting out of the gene pool. Better for everyone!

Whites Anglo-saxons used to own this country. They lost it. A few more babies in the bible belt isn't going to change this equation.

Not at all. Millennials reproduce at the smallest numbers in history. They're all in - almost the entire Millennial cohort is of voting age - and are as Left as they'll ever be. It's all downhill from here.

It's certainly downhill for more conservative older generations.

I get all the news and opinion that matters from Teen Vogue. After all, you sometimes need to pay attention to important events in between shopping sprees for bling and clubbing splatter.

Hispanics only identify as Hispanic when filing out US Forms. When they're back in the Mother Country, or amongst themselves? Same as many White People from Arkansas: "I'm Spanish with a bit of Cherokee Maya".

The same was said about the Irish, who voted for overwhelmingly for Copperheads when they first started to arrive in numbers.

Tucker Carlson was in SF yesterday and had an interesting take, basically very concerned that most young folks identify socialism as a better contract for society than capitalism. I thought he was a conservative partisan hack, but I came away impressed. He does see the danger in wealth controlled by just internet companies that don't care for the society in general and employ fewer people than traditional blue collar companies. He thinks there is a fundamental shift in the economy and the way political parties are organized - with no party really representing labor. Society needs to "sell capitalism" to the youth if we want capitalism to continue. He also correctly observed that the super wealthy are now very left of center - and yet they don't really "act that way". Uber, as example, used their app to let everyone know they supported BLM and MeToo, and yet they provide zero health benefits and 25% of drivers actually lose money. He had some very cool observations.... like we should outlaw automated driving systems to ensure future jobs for males, etc...

And I always thought he was a hack... :)

Yes, though the Irish culture is a bit closer than the Hispanic one.

Responses:
1)Everything goes around. The world turns, seasons come and pass, and land that belonged to one people belongs to another.

2)Nobody holds onto what they aren’t strong enough to keep from everyone else. In the early 19th century, a few thousand white people from Holland were enough to hold on to South Africa.
A few dozen million from England were strong enough to hold onto half the world.
And in 1967, a few million Jews held the Holy Land against a few hundred million Arabs.
Strength and determination matter. When either is gone, the barbarians will be at the gate.

All land in existence was stolen or conquered by someone or other. Maybe hundreds of times over the millennials.
It doesn't really matter to me where the boundaries are drawn in Israel. I just think suicide bombers and their supporters should be punished, not rewarded.

As long as they're comfortable and can live as they please, it doesn't really matter as long as they have theirs. What a lot of younger people don't appreciate is that the older generation's life-long conservatism was what put them in good stead for their older years.

Sure, and all empires ultimately fail, and all civilizations end up collapsing. It's written. With enough stand back, I guess none of this matters.
The sun will turn red and pulverize the earth soon enough.

By that time we'll be our own Aliens, having separate evolution on Sirius IV, Archenar V, and Canopus IIIc (third moon of gas giant). Oh, and the Oort Cloud right here in Sol. WIth billions of stars, resources are virtually unlimited. Hell it will taken have taken 10,000 years to maximize utilization of this system.

It all starts with the water cracking depot on the North Pole of the Moon.

This is actually one of the reasons why Islam will continue to pose a really serious problem until Islam itself ends. Islam commands believers to "kill the disbelievers wherever you find them" (Koran 9:5 among other verses commanding believers to kill disbelievers and "strike terror" into the enemies of Allah). It commands believers to kill blasphemers, and Pakistan is leading a Muslim world campaign against blasphemy, including online. If a cartoonist in London draws the dead charlatan Mohamad, Pakistanis riot in Pakistan and demand death. The whole universe is not big enough for Islam to share with other doctrines.

Contrast that with capitalism vs communism. At least in theory, a capitalist planet could coexist with a communist planet. They might even trade with each other. Even if an extreme Marxist considers global communism a worldwide imperative, that does not require fighting with other planets.

Only Islam commands hunting down and killing blasphemers and disbelievers "wherever you find them." Someone drew a Mohamad cartoon on an exoplanet and posted it online? Blasphemy!

Religions come and go. Zeus, the original Isis, Thor: none of them get the respect they got centuries ago. (And Thor rid the world of ice giants with his mighty hammer!) In an interconnected world, where blasphemy travels at the speed of light, Islam must end. As communism collided with history, Islam is now colliding with the Internet. I hope the Internet wins, but that means Islam must lose.
29   Shaman   2018 Oct 18, 4:12pm

I concur. The only possible way forward is to abolish Islam wherever we find it. The Chinese are doing good work with their Uighur people. I hope they succeed in their efforts to stamp out that most heinous of heresies.

Interesting: so your belief is, when Odin and Thor went away and got replaced by Christianity, that caused moral decay and their society fell apart. Looking at history, the Vikings traveled the world and prospered mightily with Odin and Thor. Even now, the entire English speaking world remembers Odin every Odinsdag (Wednesday) and Thor every Thorsdag (Thursday). Alas, Vikings traded Odin and Thor for the self-destructive Jesus character and what Neitzsche called slave morality, and fell into decline. Thank you for drawing attention to the fact: Christianity causes decay, among the Vikings as in ancient Rome.

Even now, we see the Pope demanding Christian countries import more Muslims, and serve them. If only our historical predecessors had not abandoned the strength of Odin and Thor, or Jupiter and Mars, in favor of the self-destructive Jesus character, our society might not fall for this Islamic nonsense. The officially atheist Chinese don't fall for Islam, and even the Buddhists in Burma are rejecting it; only Christians (many under orders from the Pope) insist on surrendering to Islam.

For 99% of human history, nobody ever heard of him. For the remaining 1% of human history, people have heard of him, but disagreed about what he said and whether it matters. Most of the world continues to dismiss him, and if Islam continues to spread, his doctrine will be demoted to the status of an inferior religion (as in Pakistan) and eventually crushed (as in the Arabian peninsula).

The Vikings prospered with revolutionary advances ships, tactics, espionage, and weapons. Especially the virtually unbreakable Ulfberht swords which used advanced metallurgy not discovered again for 800 more years. Most of the great dominant conquering societies did so by new advances warfare in some way from Alexander the great perfecting Phillips phalanx to mongols horse skills to the blitzkrieg. Either the people being attacked develop effective counter measures or the strong leader dies and no one can carry on or the conquest wealth corrupts the conquerors then the dominance disappears and the conquering society falls. . Religion rarely influences the fall. GIbbon's babbling excepted Christianity had very little to do with the fall of rome.
