Following Fox's dumping of the half-term Governor, who reads them all, and gave us so many words of inspiration, what do you think Palin's political obituary should read?

http://www.nationaljournal.com/politics/sarah-palin-and-the-end-of-an-era-20130126

"The strangest thing Palin said during that interview was her argument as to why Time’s recognition of Obama was irrelevant. Pointing to herself in seeming disbelief, she said that “yours truly” had made the magazine’s list of the most influential people in the nation and world, and “that ought to tell you something right there about the credence that we should give Time magazine and their list of people.” A bemused Van Susteren replied, “All right. Well. That’s an interesting concept.”"

Her resignation as Governor was for a cash grab leveraging her celebrity. She is/was not interesting enough for that to last forever. However, I did think that she would be able to keep it up for at least as long as Obama was in the White House.

In two years Palin will be the junior Senator from Alaska.

This isn't an obituary. An obituary will be when she really hits bottom, like Randy Quaid.

Maybe further down the line, but I don't think this will happen in two years time. I think that first she will exhaust any and all big easy money options: books, shows, inspirational speaker, etc. I bet she has more than two years in her before she totally runs that well dry.

She probably made a whole ton of money. So I'm sure whatever happens she's set for life.

Yeah, I am sure she made enough to be set for life. However, the question remains--did her expenses and life style inflate to match the new income, or did she thoughtfully plan her future setting aside enough to comfortably retire in the event her star faded?

None of us know because we obviously aren't privy to her finances. Clearly she knows how to make money. So maybe she knows how to save it too. Personally I don't really care.

Yeah, ultimately I don't really care either. If I never saw her name in a headline again I am not sure if I would even notice.

However, if I must see her name continue to popup, it would be mildly interesting to know if the poster girl of tea-partyish fiscal responsibility was able to manage here own finances.

Its funny in a way. Perhaps Palin was the last hurrah for the brand of politics the GOP tried to win elections with. At the time of the 08' elections I couldn't help but think to myself: " You've got to be kidding." To imagine that she was somehow the best choice McCain could make and that seemingly she had a large number of adoring fans was baffling to me. Oh well.

Im sure someone said the same back in 1976 during that election as well..

how well did that go ? maybe see you in 4 or 6 years from now .. wink wink!

So you're a GILF man eh?

Well, the way I see it is that the GOP tried their damnedest 8 years in a row, with increasingly ridiculous tactics and all the McCarthy-era scare tactics they could spew. America isn't falling for it anymore. As far as the country-fried party that the GOP became... its over.

Maybe further down the line, but I don't think this will happen in two years time.

In 2008, Mark Begich (D) beat Ted Stevens (R) by a fairly narrow margin in Alaska. Narrow considering that Begich was riding Obama's coat tails, and Stevens was literally under indictment for corruption. Stevens was later cleared, but he not going to run next year. He is dead. If Pallin wants to have a chance of challenging a Democrat for Senate ever again, she would have to bet on Begich winning next year, and then wait six more. That is not be a good bet, and that is a long wait.

If Palin were going to run, she would have to quit her day job right about now. She cannot lay the groundwork for a state-level campain in Alaska from the lower 48. It is simply too far to commute back and forth.

She is running. She is going to win. You can count on it.

Most of you are a freakin joke!. You are bashing a person that now has little power (except her state was, and is doing OK, which is far more than ANY FUCKING DEMOCRAT GOV OF ANY STATE CAN SAY!)
We are in a country where people bash an ex prez, (after 4 plus years!!) but defend one that carries forward the exact policies, 2 plus wars, wall- street, Gitmo, what about Bengazi!?!?TRANSPARENCY!?!? ETC...
You push for assualt weapons bans, but never mention that Columbine happened 4-5 years into a ban... all with 10 round mags!! No mention of anti-depressants, stealing guns, etc..
Out govt lies about unemployment, GDP, bail-outs, etc... and you think King Obama is doing what is best for you, me, or anyone?!?!
I just sit here and laugh what a bunch of dumb fucks you are!

Is that Todd on the left?

Palin was essentially the Teaparty standard bearer. And she IS a moron. I'd say this is the end of morons in America. They need a better lobbyist.

In America, it seems like the key to making money in politics is to pander via "red meat" as much as possible in terms of polarizing both sides. So easy, a caveman can do it!

Would a Alaska elect a senator someone who resigned the elected office of Gov. after two years to do political commentary, a reality show and general douche baggery? Possible I suppose but I wouldn't bet on it. I think the resignation is the killer her other shenanagins could be forgiven by the Alaskan voter but not being a quitter.

I can think of several Democrats states that do well. CA for example. Its only the SEVENTH largest economy in the world...

On the other hand, I can think of a whole mess of red states without indoor plumbing, an education level of "Completed Grade School, Attended Middle School", and coincidentally, dire poverty.

And that is something that the reps refuse to acknowledge because it does not fit their narrative. According to them, Cali should be bleeding jobs because of "high cost of doing business." Yet, I just recently met some folks from roche/genentech and in fact the opposite has happened - they closed their offices in florida and moved them to SFBA. I have additionally ran across situations where people from GE and google have been moved to Bay Area and their original offices closed in other states. Not only that, but they get perks such as company provided rides to work via luxury busses. So there are definitely cases where companies are moving work here to Cali as opposed to shipping work out of state.

Maybe, if she is really lucky.

However, I see her fitting in better giving the $50 hand jobs at one of the smaller sex shoppe's in the Pigalle District.

Shostakovich, the real funny think is ..
Palin does know how to gut and skin an elk for food with a knife just like an Eskimo...
Im pretty sure a city slicker like you would turn green and burf up a load even to witness such an act...
not to mention whimpering over the bitter cold of Alaska..
Palin is a tough little gold nugget... Ha Ha Ha Ha !!!

City Slicker
