People believing what they want to believe is a part of human nature. Maybe it even has some survival benefits to it.
When people have political beliefs that are 180 degrees from mine, I can at least somewhat understand where those beliefs come from. Our polarized political environment and the media etc lead to understandable pathologies, that can be traced to things that people understandably want to believe.
But why would one want to believe Sandyhook was staged so much that they can disregard the obvious ? That is truly hard to fathom.
Maybe it's that he's such a gentle soul that he couldn't deal with the reality of it. That is the reality of a psycho going into a school of young children and killing them. I have to admit that it is hard to imagine. Like so many things, I don't let my mind fully take it in. I don't deny it. But I also don't fully embrace the reality of it.
Being somewhat shock proof in that way is part of modern life.
Maybe that shock proof mechanism is broken in him, in which case the reality of 911 would have also been to much for to take in for him
Does he ever consider that people that are way smarter than he is think he's deluded in the extreme ? Does he ever consider that there was a reason why he was in special classes when he was young, and he was considered to be a slow learner ?
