The owners of the NFL are reportedly considering a rule change that would make it mandatory for players to stand during the national anthem.

A league spokesman said that the owners would discuss the potential change during a meeting next week, Dow Jones reported.

In recent seasons, primarily black professional football players have knelt during the national anthem to protest racial inequality in the United States. The protests started after former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick last year began kneeling during the anthem to protest police mistreatment of black Americans.

Wait, how can the NFL do that, don't the players have "freedom of speech"??

.."Earlier Tuesday, President Donald Trump tweeted that tax laws should be changed so that the NFL doesn't get "massive tax breaks while at the same time disrespecting our Anthem, Flag and Country."

Ahhhh.... money (or lack of) talks where it counts!

This is why NFL players are kneeling

Your argument (see original graph) is that it is ok for white people to kill unarmed black people, black people who were not a threat to anyone, because white people, on a per capita basis, kill fewer black people than black people do.

That's one of the most perverse interpretations of what constitutes justice that I have ever heard. It's like saying that we need not prosecute white people for killing black people because they white people have not filled their quota yet.

Can you grasp the sheer evil and stupidity of what you are saying? I doubt it, but give it a try.

Why haven't they come out protesting Black on Black killings?

OR if they are concerned w police brutality, how about any of the incidents involving white people? Oh that's right, f poor white people cause they have "privilege". Let's ignore the most scientific study done on the topic showing cops are more likely to shoot whites than blacks https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/wonk/wp/2016/07/13/why-a-massive-new-study-on-police-shootings-of-whites-and-blacks-is-so-controversial/?utm_term=.9f276a6462cf
AND lets ignore the fact that cops are now too scared to do their jobs properly in Chicago, thus allowing the murder rate of black men to skyrocket in Chicago. http://heyjackass.com/
Nah, fuck all the facts that could actually guide us to help people, and lets just boil it down to "fuck white people, cause racism."

The NFL assholes are protesting blacks being killed by white cops. That chart clearly shows that's the smallest number of homicides. If these players were REALLY SJW, they should be concerned with ALL homicides.

Why haven't they come out protesting Black on Black killings?

Black people who murder black people get prosecuted and convicted.
Police that murder black people are not being prosecuted and convicted.

THAT is the injustice that BLM and many others protest against. Are you going to pretend that you have not understood that, or are you really so dense that you have not understood that?

They do? Care to provide verifiable stats, or is just another one of your theories that you pulled out of your ass?
(image)
How about you tell us how many of these have been prosecuted and convicted?

If the identity of the murderer is known, and there is a videotape of the murder, yeah, I'd say pretty much 100% of black-on-black murders are prosecuted.

This is just more dumbassery from you. Are you really trying to argue that solved police-on-black murder cases should not be prosecuted because that very same police is not able to solve enough black-on-black murder cases? I guess so. Par for the course. You just painted yourself into yet another corner.

I think the NFL owners/admins are full of PR Bullshit when they try to dodge taking on the Kneeling by using Freedom of Speech.

For the goddamn upteenth time, the NFL fines and suspends players for saying Dammit, making hand gestures, wearing Cancer Awareness Eyeblack, and basically runs their lives. But on this one issue all of a sudden the NFL is all about FREEDOMZ (tm)? Bullshit PR to dodge dealing with the issue, I say.

The only government action I thought would be necessary is pulling their tax-free, and taxpayer subsidized, largess. There STILL is no reason the NFL should be tax free even when they stand for the pledge going forward.

Why would they do that when they can simply keep playing for the NFL, and peacefully protesting at the same time?

Seems like a win-win.

"A win for me coming out of those meetings is that everyone's on the same page and trying to help the people in this country and use our game, which unites people from all different races, all different areas, all different levels of income, for one moment, for these games," Smith said to NBC Sports Philadelphia. "And there's no better platform than for us to work together and try to benefit our country.

"Our owners have the power to impact a lot of lives in terms of whether it's financially or their guidance. I feel like it's our duty. Obviously, we're playing ball but the fans that are cheering us on, the fans that are working in these stadiums, the fans that are working in these neighborhoods are affected by some of the things that we're fighting for.

"If anyone thinks it's not an issue for us to be involved in as athletes or the owners of the NFL, then you're looking at it dead wrong."

So far nothing. All the blowhard, fake patriots out there are getting laughed at.

Standing up doesn't make anyone a patriot. Protesting is more patriotic than fake gestures like that. America was founded on protests by people who didn't want to salute the Union Jack.

"And it's a right of free speech and a right to protest. That's one of the things our forefathers fought and died for, and that continues to be a principle that's very important to most of us."

They have already appeased the patriotic customers.

It’s not the job of the NFL to cater to Special Snowflakes that hate America.

Maybe if the whiners knew about The First Amendment, they’d STFU. But you can’t fix stupid, and the Anti-American whiners are a special brand of stupid.

Good on the NFL for taking a stand against the enemy, and honoring those who fought to preserve our Rights.

The NFL isn’t laughing about the drop in attendance or viewership. Money still talks, and people can still vote with their feet!
My point remains: the NFL must decide if it wants those dollars or if it will be happier as a leaner meaner SJW-type organization.

We all know which option you’d choose jojo. But you don’t run the NFL.

Personally I don’t care if they fix it at all! I rather hope they continue to piss of customers, lose fans, and free up American dads to spend more time with their kids and less time drinking beer and watching MEANINGLESS FUCKING BALL GAMES at their buddies’ houses!

Fuck the NFL!

And Fuck professional sports in general!

Generation after generation of black poverty can be attributed to a pervasive fiction sold to black kids that they are going to be professional players someday. Even the ones who do get scholarships usually never graduate. They get injured and lose the scholarship, can’t keep up grades while playing and wash out that way, or just graduate with worthless placeholder degrees and can’t get a job beyond bouncer at a club.
Even the 0.0001% who do make it to the professional level never make nor keep much money from the experience and wind up bouncers at slightly better clubs or possibly a bodyguard for someone rich.

So basically, if you love the NFL or the NBA, you automatically hate black kids.

“I think that our country is more important than a slight economic impact. And I think if we can come together and we can work together in this front, you’re going to bypass any economic downturn that you can possibly see because this issue is more important than economics,” York said. “For the NFL to come out strongly today and have that partnership with our players and start that partnership, I think it shows that. Honestly this is one of the proudest days that I’ve ever felt being a part of the National Football League.”

Dang Trump is having another Twitter tantrum, and the NFL is saying “fuck off, pussy”. This is great. It’s nice to see that America still stands for something, and Real Americans are giving Trump and his Cucks, the business.

Where's the fake news? In my post you quoted, I pointed out the NFL penalizes players ALL THE FREAKIN' TIME for Free Speech. That's not fake news, that's a fact.

NFL players have been fined for Cancer Awareness Eyeblack, 9/11 Remembrance, saying "Damnit" in an interview, flipping the bird, and dancing in the endzone.

In your own link, the video starts with one of the anchors announcing Jerry Jones is requiring Players to stand. Only 22 players knelt last weekend, viewership and attendance is down, and like any good greedy ass-covering bureaucracy, the NFL is trying to find some way to appease the Multimillionaire Brats and the Fans but they can't but are too cowardly to take a stand.

More and more owners are going to take unilateral action to save their franchises.
97   anonymous   2017 Oct 23, 9:58am

Errc, do you realize that it just happened? That the NFL just gave in to the fans after sharp drops in viewership? Hence the celebratory mood?

The Fans pressured the heavily Taxpayer Subsidized, Government Endorsed NFL and the wealthy Team Owners, to give up trying to kiss SJW ass - all using their Freedom of Choice.

You claimed that the NFL caved in to the Anti-American SJW brats who are crying and whinging about the players taking a knee during the Anthem. Are you still pretending that this is true? Or would you like to retract that lie?
