Out driving today at a red light I saw a mother get off the bus with what I assume were her children . . . but there were too many kids to count!

They all differed in age by 1 year, and I finally counted 6, age ~1 - ~7.

Going to the SNAP site I see even with a $1000/mo income they're eligible for ~$1000/mo in SNAP benefits, ~$7 per day per person, about my food expense.

I don't mind socialism per se, but I fear we're doing it wrong . . .

(real per-capita age 25-54 monthly SNAP benefits)

I live near Colorado City, AZ and Hildale UT. A woman whose "husband" is only truly married to one woman draws welfare for every one of her children. It's common for them to pop out 13 children - and that doesn't count the actual welfare benefits they receive (Medicaid, ADC, etc). These are the polygamous families you hear about.

It's not uncommon for your regular Mormon family to have ten children. The wages in Utah are shitty (don't believe the crap you read about Utah's wages being "fair," they're not). There are many minimum wage jobs and our welfare costs are outrageous. Yet they still pop out children because the Mormon Church wants its members to replenish the earth all by themselves.

Six children with some woman on a bus? In my neck of the woods, that's the definition of a virgin.

I don't disagree with your assertion, but really, there's SO MUCH SHIT WE NEED TO UNFUCK in this country other than women getting $7.00 a day per, to take care of these CHILDREN. These children have no choice in how or where they are born, but it's our moral responsibility to do the best we can for them. They should be a priority.

I mean holy christ, this country's expenditures are absolutely insane with regards to enriching the few that something like this doesn't even deserve to be printed. Think of all the money we wasted in Iraq. We could have fed and educated millions of children instead of putting billions in the hands of a few that arguably should be burned at the stake.

This woman and their kind are a burden, but no where near where the elite class are. They are truly the dregs of this society.

"This woman and their kind?" Someone assumes that a woman he's never met is receiving welfare benefits and is offended by that "fact."

Not everyone who rides a bus is on welfare.

I don't disagree and that's a poor assumption on my part.

Nevertheless, Troy presumed what I have assumed so my comments reflected that. Right or wrong as that may be.

The rest of my opinion still stands.

This should be a non-issue until will sort out the 900 pound gorilla sitting on this country, none of which has anything to do with women or children.

My niece did the same thing, popping out five kids by three guys and all on welfare and public housing. Of course she also wasn't a responsible mother and lost them to the social system after the three year old kept showing up at McDonalds by himself and asking to be fed. Her own grandmother reported her. Now we see her FB posts all hopeful and "praying" she gets her kids back and nobody in the family wants to see that happen. They're far better off with the Christian foster parents than the drug-addled mom.
If I have a point, it's that better scrutiny needs to be made of the care these welfare children are receiving, as they often if not usually have neglectful or abusive parents. If we are to pay money for them, let's pay it to people who will take proper care of them, not just ignore them and snort the SNAP money up their nose.

OK how about this?

For a destitute woman state support is only allowed for children of the first birth - either a single child or multiples (twins, triplets, etc)

For a woman who become destitute (divorce, job loss, or other financial ruin) the state will offer her child support for the existing children only.

As a condition of state support the woman must allow herself to become sterilized. Any more kids will be ineligible for support.

Furthermore the woman will submit herself and her children to DNA paternity testing so that the state can go after deadbeat fathers. If the deadbeat father cannot pay he will also surrender to sterilization.

If that offends his/her religious beliefs fine, s/he can get full financial support from the church that convinced him/her to have the kids s/he cannot support. If the church does not help then s/he knows who her friends are.
