Obligatory:

Don't we have defense contractors, like Raytheon and General Dynamics, who make sophisticated missiles and guidance systems?

If so, then why the need to use ex-Soviet stuff for our military satellites? Am I missing something here?

Probably because it is cheaper?

As far as I'm concerned, NASA is done! R.I.P!

They forgot to add the 190 proof vodka to the fuel mix.

Think now would be a good time to ask ole Putie Poo about the warranty?

Ask him will he cover the 100 million dollar lost in cargo as well.

Everyone was so busy patting each other on back about outsourcing NASA, the evil greedy bastards that needs their shit in Space forgot to consider if cheaper means better.

First Satellite, First Animal, First Man in Space, First Woman in Space, First hard and soft landing by a manmade machine on a foreign body, first flyby, first EVA, first Docking, first multiple crew, first rover, etc.

All with hardly any captured Germans - most of them fled to the Allies in the last days.

Yeah it's weird what happens when funds are cut. Who knew?

A private contractor ran this launch.

Since it failed, in Mish-land it's a government fuck up.

Had it succeeded, Mush would have cited it as a demonstration of the manly Galtian private sector.

On the plus side it's not mishes usual some statistic went down .001% (ignoring that it went up 10% previously) the sky is falling, the end of the world is upon us post. I used to read mish some when he first stated posting, but soon realized that he only posts the changes that support his libertarian ideology and totally ignores changes when they go the other way. He has zero credibility.

I got voted down for revealing the exact same thing. It was private enterprise botching something the government has done, always. And in Russia, they launched a successful rocket to the space station the exact same day.

Under the current 10-year budget approved, the budget of the Space Agency shall increase 5–10% per year, providing the space agency with a constant influx of money
