Lots of truth in that too. However, not all wars are a tool to control us. Some wars are necessary to maintain our freedoms, like the war against Islamic Terrorism. Any new powers the State acquires during war can be retracted when the the threat is eliminated, because in a democracy the real power lies with us the people, and us only. Sometimes we have to take a step back in order to leap forward.
Let the State do it's job when it's trying to do it's job. The America of today harbors no territorial ambitions, nor the will to plunder and pillage.
