St. John's University student threatens to smash woman's laptop featuring Donald Trump sticker if photo gets 7K retweets, dust-up ensues

Clifford Durand, 18, posted a photo of an unsuspecting fellow student with a “Trump Make America Great Again” sticker on her laptop and asked his followers to share the image.

“7000 retweets and i’ll smash this b***h’s computer,” Durand wrote in the post, which his friends claimed was a joke.

The picture was retweeted more than 16,000 times within four hours of being posted online.

When 20-year-old Trump supporter Brianna Algazali was told that her picture was going viral she complained to the school’s public safety office and confronted Durand.

Several witnesses at the Fresh Meadows campus watched as the heated Trump backer threw her Matcha water on Durand.

“She raised her voice and she threw her drink on him,” a friend of Durand told the Daily News. “He looked like he was in shock. I went towards him to hold him back.”

Some students present claimed that Durand struck Algazali after he was hit with the hot beverage. He admitted as much in one of dozens of tweets he sent before his account was suspended by the social media giant.

Exactly, he physically assaulted another person, you're right, there's a difference.

After she physically assaulted him. Sounds like self defense to me.

For the 50th time. The girl was NEVER threatened. What the fuck is wrong with you that you keep repeating this lie??

Then should I be going the Conspired route, and bring everyone who retweeted the tweet as coconspirators?

Like I said, I could send this guy away for life and make the life of anyone who retweeted it life a living hell. People in Germany and France are having their shit tossed for a hell of a lot less.
But of course they are on the wrong side of Liberalism.

I guess you're just trying to drive home, that Liberal laws only go in one direction aren't you?

Like I said, Donald J. Trump buddy! Donald Justwait Trump!

Just so we're clear which side wants to make free speech a crime. I hope Ft. Wayne is reading this.

Are you saying if Obama had a son, he wouldn't be black?

Nope-I'm saying you're a racist asshole.

Obama has entered the frey of his own accord. There's no pristine racial honor for you to defend there. You're nothing but a mere amature of a race baiting nitwit compared to the mastery of Obama's level.

So yes His son indeed and all that! Obama popped that top, not Ironman.

I'm trying to figure out how your liberal mind works?

I think it's a futile effort. Your puny intellect has no possibility of understanding me. Why don't you go back to wondering how the little, skinny, people fit in the back of your flat screen TV.

Like I said--I suspect the list of things you don't understand is quite long. And it's proven to be a futile effort to teach you anything. So, probably best for you to continue living in ignorance and let those smarter than you make the tough decisions.

lol-so you're implying that fans of Trump are a protected class now?

You are hilarious.

The sticker says "Make America Great Again". I'd like to know what again means. Exactly when was America great? Our history shows America starting out as a sucky cesspool of corruption, tyranny, and immorality, and generation by generation getting better. We are still going down the road to greatness, not coming from it.

Millennial effete teen thinks it's ok to doxx and shame and threaten someone because they are not leftist (i.e. don't share their political "beliefs").

A computer isn't a living being, last I checked.

You are barking up the wrong tree here. A threat to destroy or damage someone's private property is a crime too. Stop it.

There is a HUGE difference between threatening a person and threatening to hurt a laptop computer. True, it could be a crime as I noted earlier:

So you would be fine if a loon notices you having a Hillary sticker on your car and tweets a picture of your car and you on the web and threatens to destroy your car if it gets retweeted a certain number of times? The black lives movement is probably preparing another riot to honor the "victim".

Well, I'd never have a Hillary sticker on my car so the question is moot, but of course I wouldn't like it. That's not the question, however. There are a lot of things I don't like--doesn't make them a crime.

Okay so a guy said something on social media that was unwise, although certainly not a real threat.

Then the girl confronts him and throws a hot beverage at him ?

What was the point of this thread again ?

39   elliemae   2016 Feb 23, 7:01am

Dude posted a photo of someone on social media and made a stupid comment. If this were illegal, there would be no social media. The entire internet exists because of stupid people videos, cat videos, people of Walmart, candid photos...

I can see where she might be upset - although she wanted to draw attention to herself by displaying a campaign sticker across her laptop. What I can't understand is why she assaulted him with her hot water.

She hit him first! His was self-defense.

40   Shaman   2016 Feb 23, 7:40am

Let's clarify this synopsis.
Dude notices a Trump! sticker on girl's laptop, then goes to social media to posture, threaten, and engage in general political-minded jackassery. Girl finds out about the threat and throws beverage on said jackass. Jackass turns threat into action and hits the girl. Mutual assault at this point?
The guy did start things with his asshat post and his threats. I'd say he was the most at fault, but what concerns me is the WHY that he felt socially justified in his actions. I surmise that the prevailing social climate of his (black, liberal) community asserts that those with conservative positions are worthy of contempt and possibly assault if they express those opinions.
This stance is unacceptable and completely unAmerican. In America we realize that we are stronger for having lively debate on issues, and while ideas aren't necessarily equal in value, they should be tolerated to the point where their implementation directly violates another person's rights. And also that free speech is valued.
This African needs an immediate reeducation on how to be an American.

If jackass turned threat into action, he would have trashed the computer. So, jackass didn't turn threat into action at all. He responded to being assaulted.

Sorry, being a Trump supporter isn't a protected class.

"A hate crime is usually defined by state law as one that involves threats, harassment, or physical harm and is motivated by prejudice against someone's race, color, religion, national origin, ethnicity, sexual orientation or physical or mental disability."

I don't see anything about political affiliation in there.
