I think it is a fake abduction. Maybe they are hoping for donations afterward or a book deal. It just reminds me of the balloon boy that turned out to be fake.
You don't lose 50 lbs and pull out a couple of teeth and fracture both jowl bones for a hoax.

I've read several articles and seen nothing of this.
This article talks about her "racist rant" from 2003 against Latinos:
IMHO this is a media driven propaganda piece created to drive a wedge between Latinos and Caucasians for various political reasons.
It is legal to propagandize the public in the US now. Do not believe everything you read. Or maybe, anything you read.
When you have criminal illegal alien mexicans shooting breeding age girls for no reason at all after being released into the general public by sanctuary cities, this story becomes highly believable...
This is a wild story. I hate to doubt this, but this sounds totally crazy. What do you guys think?
I'll be interested to see what the police discover. One thing seems certain: she's getting a lot more skepticism than the Muslim woman who says a Trump supporter pulled on her hijab...

I saw this on TV a few weeks ago. There was a young woman who lived in the Northwest and reported that she had been raped. The investigators ended up not only accusing her of fabricating the story, but charged her with it and she paid a fine. It took years, but when the dude was finally arrested and confessed her story came out.
Why can't we take this story at face value? It's easy to doubt someone when you weren't there, don't know the specifics. When a woman is attacked she is at her most vulnerable - and that's when people are the most vicious.
Elliemae, you bring up good points.
But the reason why we doubt is because there have been so many fabricated stories for personal or financial gain that it's gotten to the point where we have to consider it.
You can only have so many false stories exposed before needing to be open minded about the possibility up front. Is there incentive to fabricate? Does the story add up? Is there any related history that could be supporting evidence, etc. You ask these questions and see if the story smells funny. And in this particular case, the gal can't seem to provide a description of her kidnappers. Something is odd here.
Law enforcement, the courts, and society have been caught with their pants down one too many times unfortunately (sometimes at the expense of falsely accused victims).
With all of the drama and fabricated stories on the interwebs, as well as the people who claim everything from the moon landing to the Sandy Hook shooting (Boston Marathon, 9/11...) are hoaxes, people tend to doubt pretty much everything they read. It sucks - especially since law enforcement still appears to doubt the victim in many cases.
I know you can't believe everything that everyone says - but shit happens that can't be explained sometimes. We need to investigate with open minds.

Agreed.
With the media reporting lies to us each and every day, it's created the culture where we almost have to be skeptical to protect ourselves.
As our president elect would say, "So sad, believe me"

Doesn't seem so far fetched, as that's a very easy thing to do.
