84026   HEY YOU   2017 May 24, 8:40am

Texassians are fucked up,just don't know it.
It's really not bad.
Religionists are the problem, believing anything they are told
without proof. Some of these dumb fucks live in Texas.
Reminds one of WMD.

HEY YOU just coined to new words!

84027   Patrick   2017 May 24, 9:49am

I am personally a fan of the Sikh religion, though I don't think I could ever be a believer there either. Have known quite a few SIkhs in the Bay Area and found them to be excellent people, sincerely happy and willing to help others.

I visited the Sikh temple in Fremont with a Sikh friend years ago. The only disturbing bit was large pictures of guys with guns who died in battles with the Indian army. The religion is quite martial, emphasizing fitness and discipline, which makes sense because of its history as the defenders of India against Islamic invaders.

It's like what Islam could be if Mohammed had not personally been such a loser. While the essence of Islam is holding a massive butt-hurt grudge against the whole non-Islamic world, Sikhism is nothing like that as far as I can tell. If you want to leave Sikhism, you can simply do that, unlike Islam where they have to kill you. Like one Sikh put it: "The penalty for leaving Sikhism is that you are no longer a Sikh."

Why didn't he use his kirpan for self-defense?

84029   Patrick   2017 May 24, 9:52am

Interesting point. The guys with the turbans also all generally have that knife. They are obligated to have 5 things:

Kesh (uncut hair)
Kara (a steel bracelet)
Kanga (a wooden comb)
Kaccha - also spelt, Kachh, Kachera (cotton underwear)
Kirpan (steel sword)

Not "generally", but always. Even in California, where carrying concealed dirk/dagger is generally prohibited but AG simply don't prosecute Sikhs for carrying kirpans.

And most probably it was just a road rage incident with "hate crime" part just tacked on. Because turban!

Is the victim a taxi driver by any chance?

Back to the original topic, a good summary of the differences:

84034   Dan8267   2017 May 24, 11:07am

Pretty much every Indian I met hates Islam and Muslims and doesn't hide that fact. Islam is a minority religion in India, just large enough to be very much disliked.

mistook a crime done by 2 hooligans in sanfranciso as Texas

The perpetrators were both from Texas. The crime does not look like "road rage," either: they took the time to cut his hair, enforcing conformity, like when Romnesia did the same to a gay kid.

Just as Romnesia didn't speak for all of Michigan, the perpetrators don't speak for all of Texas; only most of it. I love some of Texas and some Texans but most of their elected representatives tend to be terrible and create a really bad impression nationwide. Look whom Texans tend to elect: Lying Ted Cruise, W Bush, etc. I miss Ann Richards and Molly Ivins, and I wish Ron Paul had continued longer.

84038   Patrick   2017 May 24, 12:57pm

Apo, you're wrong.

Sikhs are not dedicated to the extermination of Islam.

It's Islam which is dedicated to your extermination, and the extermination of everyone who fails to convert to Islam, or to pay the jizya ransom every year (special offer for Christians and Jews only, all others must die, no ransom allowed).

Read the Koran and the Hadith. "Kill the unbelievers wherever you find them".

The Russian hacker story was shredded in the last few days by Kim dotcom, and Brennan himself.

You have suspicious meta data....or rather it may be suspicious except its been investigated every which way possible. Still nothing

Probably. The place was very Indian, and they are not afraid of bright colors.

Such a tragedy.

I have no problems with Sikhs wearing their Sikh garbs, but they do look like the Taliban, even more than Muslims do. They will always be in danger.
If I was a Sikh, I would stop wearing Sikh garbs.

84049   Bellingham Bill   2017 May 24, 7:28pm

So I made a weird trade today, took my first 2017 IRA contribution and put it into shares of BAC-L, a convertible noncumulative preferred issue.

http://www.quantumonline.com/search.cfm?tickersymbol=BAC-L&sopt=symbol

This is a weird duck because it is convertible to 20 shares of common if & when BAC hits $65 (currently around $24), and in the meantime it's paying ~6%.

I had bought some in 1Q09 at a ~50% discount to its $1000 issue value (wish I had held onto it!).

The board stopped the $18/share dividend checks in 3Q08, but restarted them in 2014.

Seems like a pretty good get-it-and-forget-it stock, if 2009 couldn't kill BAC I don't think anything can.

Guess price can't go up a lot, given the forced conversion into 20 shares of common.

But aside from the ARLP-like yield I'm getting it for the housing market hedge -- nothing I'd like more than to lose my shirt on this position, if it meant home prices were back down to 2011 levels (which is what it would take to kill BAC again, hopefully)

84050   Bellingham Bill   2017 May 24, 8:05pm

http://www.quantumonline.com/search.cfm?tickersymbol=WFC-L&sopt=symbol

is a similar preferred, a holdover from Wachovia's preferred issues, about the same yield.

It is rare to see a fake news event of this magnitude, perpetrated with such extreme ignorance and ineptitude, spread by people who should honestly know better but who, in the Age of Trump, simply do not care anymore. As Wall Street Journal editor Sohrab Ahmari pointed out (repeatedly, yet to no avail), the organization in question wasn’t “Ivanka’s Woman Entrepreneurs Fund” or an “Ivanka Fund” or “Ivanka’s charity,” and it wasn’t comparable to the Clinton Foundation in the slightest.

It was, rather, “a World Bank initiative that Ivanka is championing.” As NPR put it, the fund was merely “inspired” by Ivanka Trump: “While Ivanka Trump proposed the idea along with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, she is not involved with its operation.”

That's funny, what I read in the report from these collected spy agencies is that there were correlations and maybes and no definite proof to be had! But it "looked like" it could have happened? And that's proof? There was so much lawyer speak in their report it was impossytonsay exactly what their conclusions were, and that's because the top spy bosses were being pressured to come up with the "right" conclusion: that Russia did it. So they issued this silly report of speculations with a slant toward the DNC fantasy position.

Watched Ron Paul's liberty report w julian assange. He described this as reverse pyramid intelligence (or something like that). Wherein they start with a theory at the top, then go find any corroborating coincidences, meta data, etc... to support the original theory. It is the ultimate confirmation bias. Give me the man, I'll show you the crime.

The DNC is the laughing stock of the world. Stealing primaries, fixing debates, sending undercover fake protesters, spying on the competition using non-existent FISA warrant evidence, threatening national security with this new red scare, and making up stories to cover their crimes. There are at least 5 spots in prison waiting for this crime gang, hopefully more.
