Yeah, the state can afford tens of thousands of $50k-250k janitors, nurses, admins and Teachers, but the cost of a 3-4 FTE $30k/year security guards at a 3100+ student campus would cost "ZILLIONS!!!"
Yet almost every hospital requires visitors to show ID and wear a photo ID badge these days, any schmuck can drive right onto a K-12 campus and walk in the door without the least interaction with a security obstacle.
What's your plan to restrict firearms from mentally deranged kids, when 39 encounters with LEOs, plus expulsion from public school, said he heard demons in his head, posted promises of violence online, and notification to the FBI of specific threats days prior to the incident, where the kid expressed a specific desire to shoot up a school did not result in any preventative act, such as forcible hospitalization.
Killing intruders, deer, and target shooting as well.
It's like saying cars should be banned because their only purpose is to run over people.
First off--ban weapons whose sole purpose is mass killing.
Second--Anyone taking any medication for mental illness cannot get a gun.
Third--require a medical exam for a gun permit.
Not to mention tightening up background checks
closing loopholes such as the gun show sales
If someone needs an AR-15 to hunt deer, they should probably get a new hobby.
Let's get real here.
50 years of unrealized labor potentialA similar calculation could be made about abortion. How about the roughly 44 million lost since 1973, not to mention their potential offspring and the intellectual potential thrown down the drain? How do we know we didn't throw away the cure for cancer somewhere along the way? Frankly, I don't think cancer will ever be cured, there are too many kinds but it is worth pondering.
Actually most states can't really afford it. And if you want a security guard that would be competent, it's going to cost a lot more than $30K/year.

That's just not true. Please don't misrepresent the truth--it makes solving the problem impossible. Unless you're running for office, it does no good. Pretty much every school is locked during the day.
Hospitals don't have their entire population of patients entering and exiting at the same time, with family members for each coming to visit at exactly the same time every day. It's apples and oranges.

If you want to have a real discussion about how to stop more of these shootings, I'm game.
weapons whose sole purpose is mass killing
There are many personal defense scenarios wherein the AK47 is the ideal weapon of defense. That's why its popular.
Please define "sole purpose". Every weapon made today has multiple purposes.
So, if someone needs to take medication for a short while trying to get over the depression of losing their wife, they shouldn't be able to own a gun.
What medical conditions would preclude getting a permit. Who decides what's an applicable medical condition?
How many of these past mass killers bought their weapon at a gun show?
You can't use a AR-15 to hunt deer, it's not powerful enough. An AR-15 shoots a bullet approximately the same size as a 22. There are MANY more powerful rifles used for hunting. AR-15s aren't one of them.
Not at all. Like I said, go to any private or government office of any size, and they have the bulk of people arriving at 9AM and leaving at 5PM, and yet they still have security checkpoints.

We are having one. Broward and the Gun Banners are saying a 3100+ campus with a single security guard or checkpoint = "Did everything possible" when it didn't.
There was NO Security
"Here's an idea; let's not forcibly hospitalize crazy kids who make repeated violent threats and exhibit a litany of red flag behaviors, that would be an imposition on FREEDOM and HUMAN RIGHTS! instead, let's restrict Gun Rights for the entire population."
Can we stop pretending that if one proposed solution doesn't solve the entire problem that its not worth doing??
Can we stop pretending...

We are having one. Broward
I've been asking for SPECIFIC solutions, but all I've seen are generic Liberal MSM anti-gun talking points.
Why is that?
They're talking points because...
How many other shootings took place after people knew the shooter was trouble and did nothing?
Talking points but no solid workable realistic solutions.
It's not practical to require background checks at gun shows?
It's not practical to keep mentally ill people from getting guns?

Gun show background checks go on ALL the time.
Even if gun retards were to be intellectually honest for a nanosecond they'd admit that no ban on 2A rights is worth saving the lives of children. Here's the thought experiment:
If a BAN on some firearms led to an absolute eradication of mass killings in America would you or would you not vote against it? See, they'll either beg the question, like Cucked Cunts or they'll run away and resume the stupid argument that perfection is necessary. OK, Cunt Cucks: prison sentences don't stop bank robbery, therefore MAKE BANK ROBBERY LEGAL.
Morons.

So that's why it's called the gun show loophole.
And they have automatic badges. Everyone doesn't check in with a security guard.
But if you don't have a badge, the guard doesn't let you pass. And insists you get a visitor badge or register a book or otherwise identify yourself. C'mon, this is obtuse now.
Agreed. It is obtuse. Are you going to give every parent a badge then? And every kid?

Should anti-depressant prescription disqualify you from gun ownership?
We need more TEACHERS! Thousands of them at $50k+/year!
We need to double spending in our SCHOOLS! Nothing too good for our Kids!
Increase the pensions! Increase the training budget! We need more Admins of Welcoming Diversity! Fund our schools, Evil Republicans!
"How about a security guard at the entrance?"
NOOOOO! That would cost ZILLIONS! Just add extra layers of bureaucracy to buy a gun, or better yet, Ban Semi-Auto Rifles!
Raze all the schools in this country, sell the School Buses off to foreign countries, and make Public Education something we do from home on our Government Internet.

The real morons are the idiots who create straw man hypotheticals that distorts the facts. The facts are Guns don't kill. Some people are killers. Here's a thought experiment, if putting all murderers to death eradicated murder, would you execute the murderers or let them live?

High school kids have ~50 years of unrealized labor potential, at a ballpark of 50k per year.
2,500,000 x 17 = $42,500,000 in lost potential wages
17 families will now have to bury a child. Average cost of funeral service 10k = $170,000
Let’s say on average 50 people attend each funeral, so they have to take a day or two of unpaid bereavement leave.
850 people x $500 in lost wages= $425,000 in lost wages
It’s not cheap to travel with no notice for planning, so we’ll use an average $1,000 per person = $850,000
100’s maybe 1,000s of survivors will now suffer from PTSD, which is hard to calculate costs but easily into the millions = $100,000,000- $1,000,000,000
So we’re already potentially north of 1 billion dollars in costs, without even beginning to consider all the ancillary costs to come, so we can pause and move over to the benefit side of the analysis.
Benefits
A gun manufacturer made a sale of ~1,000 which netted them a hundred or two in profits.
So who gets stuck with the tab for another gun nut taking his lame hobby of target practice to the local high school?
Oddly, not the gun maker. Because your halfwit Republican Government says that the gun worked as intended, to turn teenagers into bloody chunks.
