Patrick.net is an online forum, a bit like Twitter or Reddit, but with much more freedom of speech than either of those. Almost anything goes, but a few things don't, such as deliberately personally insulting another user, or deliberately misrepresenting what another user said.

I got the patrick.net domain name back in 1995 when I was one day too late for patrick.com. Missing the .com name turned out to be fine. I prefer the .net name now because life is all about human networks. This site was just my personal blog from 1995 to 2004.

In 2004 I started writing about the housing bubble, which catapulted the site to national fame for a while. I was interviewed on NPR, on Nightline on TV, and in other corporate media that I have since learned to recognize as poison. Here are my original the articles about the housing bubble (the dates on them are much later because I updated them):

https://patrick.net/post/1282720/2015-07-11-ten-reasons-it-s-a-terrible-time-to
https://patrick.net/post/1282721/2015-07-11-eight-groups-who-lie-about-the-housing
https://patrick.net/post/1282722/2015-07-11-37-bogus-arguments-about-housing

The big housing bubble popped in 2008, and traffic fell, since it was no longer controversial to assert that we really had had a housing bubble.

About then, I decided to just let the public discuss other topics with each other and wrote my own forum software. I'm a programmer, so that was fun. At first I was kind of disturbed at the number of conservatives on the site, but as I discussed things with them and saw San Francisco literally turn to shit under far-left Democrat extremists, I changed my thinking.

And yet I didn't change my thinking all that much, because once again, I'm opposing corruption of government by the oligarchy. Before, my enemy was the NAR (National Association of Realtors) and I still think the NAR is nothing but institutionalized crime, but there are bigger fish to fry now, especially since the worldwide campaign to inject every human with a dangerous and ineffective genetic experiment, which was never approved by the FDA. (They approved "Comirnaty", which is not available, to deceive the public.)

It’s like Pharma just backed a truck up to the Progressive Values Factory; stole everything; modified core values in order to maim people, make money, and implement global totalitarianism; and the left is just out there smoking a cigarette on the loading dock saying, “Sounds good to me.” What!? What the heck happened to the left? Is there no one remaining in that tribe who is capable of logic and reason!? Quite literally the worst industry in the world stole the left’s most cherished values and no one on the left is the slightest bit offended by this (even though they are offended by everything else)!? We live in the bizarro upside down world.

I could go on, but you'll get the idea by reading the site.

I have a platform of ideas for improving America: https://patrick.net/post/1303173/2017-02-19-patrick-s-platform

And an explanation for how we got to this point.

Site Rules

1. Do not deliberately insult the other users personally.
2. Do not deliberately insult the site. It's free to use and does not even have ads.
3. Do not misquote people.
4. Do not post porn except in the tits thread. No actual sex and no homo porn please.
5. If you feel you must post racist or anti-semitic jokes, please put them in the political incorrectness thread.
6. Do not post illegal content, unless the US law making the content illegal is itself clearly unconstitutional. In that case, please do post it!
7. Do not threaten another user with violence or you will be quickly and permanently banned.
8. Do not post spam.
9. Do not promote the obviously ineffective and very dangerous toxxine. Millions have died from it, far more than from the virus.

If you're wondering why your comment was flagged, please click the "edit" link on it. It should be pretty obvious when you read your own words again. If you think there was a mistake about the content being flagged, please write p@patrick.net When you edit and save your own flagged comment, it will go back into moderation where it will get reviewed by a moderator again.

If you're suspicious that comments are flagged for political reasons, note that you can actually see any flagged comment in the html source of that page. Use "View Source" in your browser. Yes, it's inconvenient, but that's deliberate, to keep those comments out of the conversation stream.

Please use this effective debate technique:
1. State your opponent's position so that he agrees with it 100%. This is so that you argue against what your opponent is really saying.
2. State points of agreement, and anything you learned from your opponent.
3. Give your reasoning for why your opponent is mistaken.
4. Make it clear that you are attacking only the point and not the person.

Site Functionality

If you ignore another user, you will not see that user's threads or comments. To see whom you're ignoring and to unignore, look on your edit profile page.

To get another user's attention, mention that user in a comment with an @ character prepended to his username ( for example @Patrick ) and then he will get an email of that comment, unless he has emails turned off.

If you type or paste in an image URL ending in .jpg, .png, or .gif it will be converted into the visible image in a thread or comment. You can also upload images, mp3 audio, mp4 video, and pdfs (under 10MB) from your local computer.

You may not post large sections of copyrighted material unless you have explicit permission from the copyright owner. But excerpts for discussion are fine, and in fact protected by law.

If you include an embed video url from Rumble, Bitchute, Vimeo, NewTube, or BrandNewTube, the thread or comment will display the video. Please try to avoid YouTube urls, since YouTube routinely censors or demonetizes politically incorrect videos, such as those about the dangers of the toxxine.

These basic html tags all work in threads and comments: a audio b blockquote br code del font hr i iframe img li ol p strike sub sup u ul video vsmall

You can surround a word or phrase with the * character to make it bold, or the _ character to make it italic, or surround a word with - to strike it, or you can just use the b or the i or the strike html tag.

Searching

Prepend + to require a word or - to exclude it: +Tunnel -Sky
Search for phrases by putting them in quotes: "Tunnel in the Sky"
Search for the beginning of a word by appending the star character: Tunne*

Shortcuts

^t will jump to the text input box at the bottom of a thread
^s will jump to the search box at the top of each page
^f will open your file select menu to let you select an image or pdf to insert in the text box

If you click "pin" at the top of a thread, it will get saved to your pinned list. For example, here is patrick's pinned list

There is a thread for each zip code in the US. You can have local discussions there about anything, or you can post things for sale, etc. To find the thread for a zip code, just do a search for the town name or zip code.

I also have a list of all US Congressmen as separate threads, where you are encouraged to comment on how good of a job you think they're doing:

Sanctuary cities is about treating people humanely.

@LeonDurham Sanctuary cities are about undercutting wages for the poorest US citizens.

Even if you disagree about why some cities are inviting in illegals, the effect is the same: immense harm and deeper poverty for the poorest US citizen. What about treating them humanely instead?

It's funny that the only people I hear worried about Tranny bathrooms are always Republicans

Gee, Obama seemed quite worried about tranny bathrooms, and I'm pretty sure he's a Democrat:

https://www.nytimes.com/2016/05/13/us/politics/obama-administration-to-issue-decree-on-transgender-access-to-school-restrooms.html

WASHINGTON — The Obama administration is planning to issue a sweeping directive telling every public school district in the country to allow transgender students to use the bathrooms that match their gender identity.

A letter to school districts will go out Friday, adding to a highly charged debate over transgender rights in the middle of the administration’s legal fight with North Carolina over the issue. The declaration — signed by Justice and Education department officials — will describe what schools should do to ensure that none of their students are discriminated against.

It does not have the force of law, but it contains an implicit threat: Schools that do not abide by the Obama administration’s interpretation of the law could face lawsuits or a loss of federal aid.

The move is certain to draw fresh criticism, particularly from Republicans, that the federal government is wading into local matters and imposing its own values on communities across the country that may not agree. It represents the latest example of the Obama administration using a combination of policies, lawsuits and public statements to change the civil rights landscape for gays, lesbians, bisexual and transgender people.

Appreciate my point that the politics of inequality have ransacked our nation and will continue until we FORCE it to stop.

@jazz_music My friend, we agree.

Sure, both parties are infested by servants of our owners, and they do what they can to make our owners richer at our expense, mostly by driving down wages via the export of jobs and import of illegals.

Trump is just about the only politician out there who is pointing these things out. I don't care about his personal flaws as long as he keeps up the pressure and the economy keeps rolling like it is.

I've yet to see anyone respond to the reality that illegal immigrants consume as well as produce so they really aren't that much of a drain, if at all.

Automation, on the other hand, produces without consuming and is therefore a much bigger cause of poverty than immigrants. Automation drives wealth to the top and starves the bottom. Government's job should be to counteract this natural tendency of capitalism.

That is the definition of a Luddite. Beside, all sectors of US society are richer now than they ever were, and we are more automated now than we have ever been.

No, it is not. It is a fact. The cost savings from automation accrue to the owners. This isn't a moral judgment, it's reality. And I'm not advocating that we stop progress, only that we need to acknowledge the side effects of it and develop policies to counteract those effects.

Real wages for the bottom 50% of Americans have been flat for 40 years while income for the top 1% has grown exponentially.

A large fraction of the wages of illegals goes not to consumption, but straight to Mexico as remittances.
317   HeadSet   2018 Sep 21, 9:00pm

Real wages for the bottom 50% of Americans have been flat for 40 years while income for the top 1% has grown exponentially.

And you do not think that allowing millions of unskilled illegal immigrants over that 40 years has anything to do with it? If it was all about "automation," then those illegals would not have found work. And if you really wanted to develop a policy to deal with this, then rigid E-Verify is an obvious choice.
318   HeadSet   2018 Sep 21, 9:12pm

Rocketmanjoe says
Patrick says
A large fraction

How large?
A larger amount is remitted by legal immigrants and H2B visa holders like the ones who work at Trump's Mar a Lago.

For the H2B and legal immigrants to be remitting more money to Mexico, there must be more of them than illegals. But don't illegals vastly outnumber the legal immigrants?
319   LeonDurham   2018 Sep 22, 7:30am

Patrick says

A large fraction of the wages of illegals goes not to consumption, but straight to Mexico as remittances.

I imagine it's a similar fraction as what gets saved by US citizens. Bottom line--illegals consume and produce.

Maybe a small part, but like I said-illegals consume as well as produce. Does having babies cause wages to go down?

And I'm fine with E-Verify. It's not perfect, but fine with me

Illegals not only knock down wages for the poorest Americans, they also greatly increase the strain on police and emergency rooms without paying, and then drain billions by simply shipping it home.

Mostly not true-they pay the taxes that support police. They ship home what Americans save. Consumption is mostly the same.

Then why the term "melting pot" diversity is what made this country great. Don't let anyone tell you different

Yes, the "melting pot" is exactly what made the country great!

Think about it: the melting pot melts down the previous identity and creates a new one. America took people from everywhere, and made them into Americans.

The "diversity" was recognized as the primary danger to our unity as a country, and so the diversity was deliberately erased by the melting pot.

Diversity = Death

They recognized that the whole enterprise would fall apart without a strong group identity.

And yet they still feel apart.

They succeeded only as long as "diversity" did not infect the empire.

As soon as the various subgroups asserted other identities, the center could not hold, and it fell apart.

But as long as the subgroups felt they were part of the whole, not separate groups, the empire prospered.

Lol, yes, I'm "literally Hitler" now because I would like to see more unity as Americans.

there is a tradition in many newsgroups and other Internet discussion forums that, when a Hitler comparison is made, the thread is finished and whoever made the comparison loses whatever debate is in progress.[7] This principle is itself frequently referred to as Godwin's law.

Then it is simple indeed. Instead of arguing about minute details, we all agree that a) need to introduce E-Verify, b) prison times for employers of illegals, whether for chicken processing plant owners or people who hire illegals for mowing lawns, and c) if police catch an illegal, they deport xe.

Most Democrats directly support and encourage illegal immigration by:

* granting government benefits to illegals, such as free tuition, at the expense of US citizens
* refusal to support ICE's defense of our southern border, to the degree that ICE employees and their families have been attacked
* refusal to even utter the correct legal term: "illegal alien"

Illegal alien was dropped eventually for illegal immigrant, but even that wasn’t enough for the P.C. police in the Democratic Party. Now, we are told, they are in fact “undocumented immigrants.” Undocumented, of course, sounds as if the only thing separating them from legal immigrants is a few bits of paper that old Uncle Sam just forgot to give them.

In a shameless perversion of both fact and language, some of the more extreme proponents of mass immigration have even begun calling illegal aliens “undocumented Americans” or “undocumented citizens.” Of course, they are neither American nor American citizens, but this is of little consequence to proponents of mass migration. “No human being is illegal,” claimed Ramos in an interview with Chris Cuomo.

America prospered most when primarily Caucasian with a limited number of primarily Caucasian and Asian immigrants. Also those immigrants overcame real adversities without whining or pissing on the flag uniting under the American identity. Like the Irish or Italian who now have to make a bid to keep Columbus day because of leftoid idiocy. No country with majority unassimilated diversity has ever succeeded. Those that take in so many immigrants that they reach majority diversity need to make sure the immigrants are tribally compatible and integrate into the country's identity faster than new immigrants arrive and they need to strictly enforce existing laws to swiftly kick out those undermining the system. Otherwise it's lights out.

Facebook's head of advertising, Rob Goldman, got in a shitload of trouble for:

1. disproving that the Russians had placed any ads to influence the presidential election
2. proving that the Russians did indeed place many ads after the election deliberately to stir up divisive diversity issues, like race

Russia did harm America by dividing us. Diversity made it easy for them.

The solution is simple: stop promoting the harmful and divisive diversity agenda, and instead concentrate on unity as Americans of many origins. What we can really be proud of is assimilating people from all cultures, accepting and making Americans out of them so that their American identity is their primary identity.

It's also time to get State Universities to require Western Civ courses again. Western Civ i & II, plus a course in Western Philosophy and Science.

How many Liberal Arts majors know who Humphrey Davies or John Locke are? While they say that 32 Genders = Science, POCs must be segregated, and Chemistry is from Arabia (it isn't, in fact the word itself is Greek - Khemia - "To Pour Together".).

People have no clue that 95% of everything was invented by Westerners in the past 200-300 years. Clearly the superior civilization, and something to be proud of.
