And they will change again. For the Chinese the negotiations begin after the deal is signed. There is no fucking way they will manufacture low/no profit goods in Wisconsin. Only an idiot like Walker and his republican rubes would fall for that.

The maximum limit or cap on the state and local taxes (SALT) which includes income tax and property tax is $10,000.

" For example, the average SALT deduction taken in New York was more than $21,000 in a recent tax year. "

However, the standard deduction went up significantly, such as to $24,000 for married couples.

I can see this hurting mostly those households in Democrat states making more than $150,000 per year and owning a home worth more than $500,000.
100565   HeadSet   2019 Feb 6, 7:54am

"Thanks to the Trump-Radical Republican tax cut, millions of families in California, Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Virginia and other high-tax states will owe thousands to tens of thousands of dollars more in federal income tax for 2018 even if their income was unchanged from 2017."

Sounds like a tax increase on the upper class. The same puds that previously pawned their high state taxes onto those in low tax states.

Would seem to me the title of the thread is over the borderline a personal attack.

Is it really necessary to install someone's name as opposed to just indicating how screwed up CalPers is?

Marcus has indicated he is a public school teacher in California, so I suspect he'd be impacted by matter of CALPERS solvency.

With Governor Gavin "glamour boy" Newsom stating California welcomes any illegal immigrant seeking sanctuary, how will that impact CALPERS ?

Will it take away from the California funding pie (i.e., more money for public schooling and social welfare for children of illegal immigrants, etc.) that would go to funding CALPERS ? Will California require more employee contributions to CALPERS ?

One thing for sure, the stock market based on Shiller PE ratio (and economic cycles) is likely near peak. CALPERS should just put all the money into Vanguard Life Strategy Income Fund (i.e., 30% stocks/70% investment grade bonds) and safely count on about 6% annual return.

They may be the last if they ever leave because the SV leftoid censorship culture worships their enablers and thus they can get away with anything, for that they gladly pay a little extra for their employees. The free internet died around the time the dot com bubble burst at the beginning of this millenium.

Schwarzenegger was better than his crony predecessor Davis who is a criminal but overall the terminator has been cucked over the years and is pretty much a neocon somewhere between the nutty left and the Trump Republicans. A regular mainstream GOP guy won't fix the CA mess, they need a Giuliani style intervention by now.

Nope... Marcus has claimed he's "entitled" to that pension, so it's factual.

Why do you hate FACTS and the TRUTH?

So, no. They will never do that. Ever.

I see your good point. Don't run CALPERS like a hedge fund and run it more like the Thrift Savings Plan (TSP). They'll still reliably earn 6 to 7% per year.
100583   clambo   2019 Feb 6, 3:35pm

Those who get the California pension from Calpers will be OK.

Why? Because the politicians put California taxpayers on the hook for Calpers fuck ups.

It's set up so that if Calpers makes money, they get to keep it. If Calpers loses money, the tax payers have to make up the difference.

for Prop 13, they would have to amend the state constitution. And telling voters they need to vote for it to bail out entitled public sector union brats won't fly. So, expect them to spin some other crap-story. (Single Payer!)

With the mainstream media helping them, the Dems in California definitely can "convince" the public about the "altruism" behind eliminating Prop 13.

Look at what is going on in France with the Yellow Vest protest. The taxpayers there have had enough of all the "altruism" behind high taxes. They called b.s. on the increase in fuel taxes because they knew that the taxes were to fund more social welfare spending for immigrants (not for green technology initiatives).

@OccasionalCortex People can simply log out and read everything.

How else could I run the site? If you're not logged in, I really don't know who you are. I suppose I could try the "unerasable cookie" approach and block people who I identify that way, but that seems wrong.

a public school teacher in CA and has repeatedly made a big deal about how entitled he is to that pension. That makes it open game to talk about/reference.

I've never talked about being entitled.

But I have argued that

1) a pension is simply a part of a govt workers compensation

2) That the details of how it works (i.e., what I pay in to it per year, what my employer pays in per year and what the state pays in per year, are all public knowledge.

3) If you think it's such a great way to get rich for not working very hard, you could have been a cop, or a teacher, or a fireman, or for that matter a lifer in the military, or any one of a number of other govt jobs.

You didn't though. SO it must not be that great of a deal. Or possibly you simply were not qualified to do any of those jobs, or did not choose to become qualified.

By the way, there's calpers and cal strs, 2 separate and distinct pension funds.
