And? You can live somewhere else if you have a problem. Never understood people complaining about being the best at something. Go somewhere else then and find something they do good and complain about it.

Fine. Who's giving the payback? And how is proposed payback going to occur?

I get we have troops stationed everywhere in the world. But have things gotten better or worse lately? Think about that. Shit happens, but if you had a child in the military right now, would you actually be concerned for real? They'd be more likely to die in a car crash right now in the states versus killed abroad.

Yup. I mean, seriously, like what about the Mongols under Genghis Khan? All they did was invade and kill. That was their whole way of life, and after Genghis it went on like that for centuries under his descendants.

Like incredible, epic slaughter. "It has been calculated that approximately 5% of the world's population were killed during Turco-Mongol invasions or in their immediate aftermath."

There is no Colonialism. On what continent is New Bakersfield or New Pittsburgh?

We spent millions more to drop a precision guided munition when other countries drop a barrel bomb.

If you think the place you move to is just happy with the status quo and has zero interest in taking business from their neighbors or other people globally, let me know what country that is. In fact, the reason the Ayatollahs were able to take over Iran is because of Jimmuh Carter's bullshit Human Rights crap, which isolated the Shah and fermented violent revolt.

Instead of being replaced with Muh Democracy, he was replaced with a Theocratic Regime far more despotic. In 1988 they executed tens of thousands of people including kids in the course of a couple of weeks. To say nothing about making 13-year old boys charge over landmines in the name of Allah and the Revolution during the Iran-Iraq War.

Lefties can't consider the idea that there are less-than-stellar alternative outcomes or 2+ order effects from their policies.

We are the top dog and must keep it that way at all cost. Why we have 700 military bases around the world?

The White House also said the ATT "will only constrain responsible countries while allowing the irresponsible arms trade to continue," noting that major arms exporters such as Russia and China are not part of the deal.

I don't get it. We shouldn't be the worlds police force, etc. as I've seen from multiple commenters here. Yet we don't agree or finalize some treaty and we're ass holes and not "leading" or whatever? What the hell do people want? Like seriously?

And what difference does or will this topic make in your life? None. So move on. You're not getting shot by some Spanish dude, in America, with an illegally traded gun. This is what we're talking about here. And if Jesus in Spain gets shot with a rifle made in the good 'ole USA, again, what does that do for you? That hurt your soul? Guns are getting moved regardless of some piece of paper getting signed.

"Today the President once again walked away from America's leadership role in the world and undermined international efforts to reduce human suffering caused by irresponsible and illegal arms transfers," said Stimson Managing Director Rachel Stohl, an arms trade expert who helped draft the treaty.

It's a fact, when America shuts down those military bases, it'll be great for domestic debt.

It won't be great for Central Asians.

This is what I mean by Leftists being unable to consider the other effects of their policies.

There’s no sense of balance to what our country does overseas, not just Iran, Syria, Venezuela, but even China too. Our military industry has us in over our head. It needs to stop.

America’s largest foreign soil base is Garrison Humphreys home to 45,000 personnel in South Korea and right across from China.

We would absolutely freak if a country did this to us. The oligarchs media would not let us get a minute rest if any country built a supply logistics base the size of the Pentagon just a hundred miles or so off our coast.

@OccasionalCortex.

Great Piece.

Takeaway: They love Kamala Harris, because they know she'll be a good Dem who will blast Whites, and be "fake-tough" on Wall Street.

Kamala Harris was a favorite of many in the room. The U.S. senator from California now describes herself as a populist and highlighted a past confrontation with JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon over foreclosures in her pre-campaign book, but in 2012, as California’s attorney general, she passed on prosecuting OneWest and its CEO, Steven Mnuchin. In this cycle, she has been the Democrat perhaps most active in seeking Wall Street money (Citi vice-chairman Ray McGuire and Pine Street partner Brian Mathis are helping with her Wall Street outreach, and she recently headlined a fund-raiser hosted by LionTree CEO Aryeh Bourkoff) and occasionally its advice (BlackRock’s Michael Pyle, an Obama-administration alum, is advising her on economics). “People are generally in search of a candidate who has the right set of views, has the right character, but also can win,” Rattner told me later. “Right now, it is very hard to see who checks all three boxes.”

They also love Werner
But another option held promise: moderate Virginia Democrat Mark Warner, who’d twice before considered running. The senator agreed to meet last summer and listened as they promised funding and presented a plan to get his name on the ballot in all 50 states. Then Warner, assessing the probability of a successful third-party run, told them, “Thanks, but no thanks.”

He's the most dangerous Democrat, since he represents Social Security-free Federal Workers living in Virginia, and has long discussed stealing and reneging on Social Security Contributions.

Scattered across the globe are 800 American military bases while Washington’s principal enemies du jour Russia and China have, respectively, only one and none.

It is depressing to observe how the United States of America has become the evil empire. Having served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and in the Central Intelligence Agency for the second half of the Cold War, I had an insider’s viewpoint of how an essentially pragmatic national security policy was being transformed bit by bit into a bipartisan doctrine that featured as a sine qua non global dominance for Washington.

Listen, at the end of the day, I'd actually think most Patnetter's would agree the military expenses and reach is over the top. The problem is our economy and frankly parts of the world have become reliant on our military and the threat of it. If we don't pull back carefully, our economy could suffer massively and then people would be bitching about that.

I do think we could reduce our footprint to an extent and would like to see it happen. But close a foreign base and guess what, someone else is going to fill the void. It has to be done strategically. Are trade routes protected that get us products or our products to other countries? It's not just about money or us being an evil empire. We're a global economy and more people would be dying if we weren't doing what we do. We kill, but more we be killed if we didn't.

Whether it's right, wrong or stupid, we are the stabilizing force in the world regardless of how many incursions we've been involved in. It wasn't the US starting WWI or II. I'd bet you can take KT's list of US "wars" and add up the casualties and it doesn't come close to touching WWI or II. We start or intervene in shit for sure, but nothing close to the magnitude of what Europe has done. Be pissed at them... and understand it was Europe that forced our hand into this position while they rebuilt from their bullshit. No MAJOR war (or even close) in 50 years and people don't even remember Europe couldn't keep it's shit together for 30 years before 2 of the globes deadliest wars? Fuck America though...

Afghanistan could be handed off to India, which would be the most elegant solution. They have rough relations with China, the Russians won't want to muscle in on a top military customer, allows India to encircle Crapistan to the West, and gets us out of there.

Carter missed the root cause. We've only been without a central bank twice in our history. Try fighting a war without the ability to print endless debt, doesn't work so well.
