Why should you have a measuring system that makes sense, when you have an arbitrary, antediluvian, inefficient, cumbersome system invented by primitives, but that everybody knows and loves?
if the French were truly smart when inventing the metric system, they would have made the meter 1,000th of a nautical mile
One Nautical mile equals one degree in latitude.
One nautical mile actually equals one arc-minute
A minute at what speed?
HeadSet saysOne Nautical mile equals one degree in latitude.
TIL Earth has a circumference of 360 nautical miles!
One nautical mile actually equals one arc-minute, or 1/60 of 1 degree.
Yep, I mistyped.
"Esperanto died, but the metric system continues, this weird, utopian, inelegant creepy system that we alone have resisted"

A liter = 0.1m^3 of water = 1kg.
A ton = 1000 kg
A km = 1000m.
A cm = 0.01m
Water freezes at 0, boils at 100 degrees.
Tyranny right there. Imposed at the business end of the guillotine.
