I think acknowledging that 9/11 was an inside job is just too ineffable for most citizens to absorb, and most still prefer to stay in their 'protected shell' world. I strongly opposed the Iraq war and while Trump made it possible to talk about certain things openly again it highly depends on the area. In the San Francisco Bay area for example many if not most conservatives keep quiet and don't discuss politics openly.
