I can't figure out which unelectable dem will win the nomination now.

Prob'ly Biden. He's speaking right now. He's promising everyone everything and seems mad as hell.
108944   HeadSet   2020 Mar 3, 7:43pm

Awfully fishy that Mayor Pete and Amy dropped out, and Warren did not. Pete and Amy would have taken delegates from Biden, while Warren is still in to take delegates from Bernie.
108945   MisdemeanorRebel   2020 Mar 3, 7:44pm

Hillary or Bloomberg.

Remember, delegates only have to vote for the candidate in the first round. If no one candidate gets 50%, and all that takes is either Warren or Bloomberg not to drop out, then delegates are free to nominate anybody they desire in the mandatory succeeding rounds. Again, the new Convention rules require 50%+ majority. Such as a Bloomberg who didn't get 15% of the delegates/votes, or... Madame Secretary.

And the superdelegates can vote for anybody.

I'll be floored if they pick Biden (unless Hillary is his running mate and he has a horrible medical incident after the Convention)
108946   HeadSet   2020 Mar 3, 7:47pm

Looks like it is up to California to push Bernie over the top.
108947   MisdemeanorRebel   2020 Mar 3, 7:49pm

I gotta hand it to the Dems, they succeeded where the GOPe failed in 2016. They knew Jeb! would be a fairly weak candidate, so they put in Cruz and Rubio and Kasich to divide the votes until the convention, and then suddenly they'd all gather around Jeb! That's why Trump went after Jeb! and then Rubio in turn. It's also why Kasich stayed in until the end, hoping for a Convention Steal.

The Dems are doing this with Biden/Bloomberg who are the stalking horses of the Clintons. It's also why Obama has been quiet.

Why else didn't Kloby or Butty wait until the last minute, giving their supporters little time to consider?

Why didn't Klobuchar at least stay in tonight in order to win delegates from her home state in order to get bennies and facetime at the Convention for the future?

What about Texas?

Teas looks like Biden and Bernie will have about the same number of delegates, with perhaps a small few extra for Bernie.

'What's worse than a Republican or Democrat? It's when these assholes work together!'

Interesting. Republicans and Democrats worked together to try and stop Trump. Assholes.

Or maybe the corona virus panic made it onto the list. Still not Trump's fault in the least.

Democrat Media Establishment will try to play this like they did with the 2008 crash that propelled Obama to victory. They had a major part in causing enough problem to facilitate the market crash within a couple months of the 2008 election.

The problem is they blew their load too soon as the coronavirus will most likely be defeated well before the Democrat convention.

The Democrat cult has to pull out another crisis or something else out of their Trump Derangement Syndrome hat within a couple months of the election.
108952   SunnyvaleCA   2020 Mar 4, 5:13pm

The flip side to these drops are the gains. I had one of my best stock-market days just last Monday. At lunch my colleagues jokingly asked if I were going to be buying a Ferrari or a Lamborghini, to which I replied: One of each!

Dimwits and the media always incorrectly represent the points an index has changed, not the percentage change.

They’re either stupid or evil trying to mislead investors.

But if the virus takes hold here, then it could be a few years before stocks rally. But rally they will.

"Buy when there's blood in the streets."

No time to buy as you have to wait it out. Don't catch the falling knife.

If your 50 and under with no intention of retiring in the next 5-7 years, you should be buying and buying a lot of index funds if you don't have time to research. Double or triple your 401k withholdings if they are paid each paycheck and fund purchases immediately.

You've given the worst possible advice and I don't get why?
108964   clambo   2020 Mar 5, 10:53am

Like wookie says, if you have the income, keep buying stock mutual funds for capital appreciation.

Personally I prefer actively managed funds in retirement accounts and index funds in taxable accounts because they are tax efficient (don’t produce big 1099).

Either way, time invested will increase your pile, compounded dividends are the secret boost.

I wish I had more income, but I won’t be able to do anything about that for a few months.

People in S. Florida said to me “enjoy your money, you can’t take it with you”, but I somehow can’t switch gears to stop wanting to invest.

I am two degrees. Or is it three? ...from a confirmed coronavirus infected person.

Me -> My parents (retired) -> Another couple in the same retirement community as my parents who play bocce ball with them. They are on this cruise ship. Wife has tested positive. Total of 17 passengers are from the same retirement community as well. No, my parents are not one of them on that ship. Nor have I ever come into contact with these people myself.

lol sometimes too much info isn't good. They will all be quarantined anyways. So far SF sits at 2 cases but there may be a few more undetected. Probably higher chances of winning a few grand in the lottery than catching it unless the numbers rise sharply.

Already are. Ship has been stuck out in the Bay for alike three days now or something.

I'm surprised they let them out here as they were figuring out if SF had the proper cdc procedures in place. They must have gotten rid of all the hobos within the perimeter. It's pretty nice to finally have less traffic in the city again.
