The article cites the DJIA, which isn't a great index of anything. It's just hand-picking a narrow index to spin a narrative.

Let's try the same thing with the much broader S&P 500...
Current price is 2398. On Oct 31, 2016 it was 2085. On Jan 23, 2016 it was 2271. So we're looking at gains of 15% and 5% respectively. Don't forget to also add in about 7% of dividends (using average dividend yield for all S&P 500 stocks).

Also, now that the gamblers are giving Biden a slight edge in the elections (over Trump), some part of this crash might be related to who will be president next year. It's true that the S&P 500 experienced a huge surge in 2019 that was directly proportional to Chief Warren's falling out of favor. I can cherry-pick stats and bogus correlations with the best of 'em!

Actually, the power goes out around here even just when the wind blows. :-). Also, when the power goes out at home, I often go to work. That's no longer an option. Just found out there was a case of this where my neighbor works. A college... Last day the infected person worked was March 4th. So this likely has spread all over my area for sure.

I'd guess 80% of people have been exposed at this point. I know more testing increases the numbers, but if you're feeling fine and have been with groups or to an event you've most certainly been exposed. DON'T go to nursing homes and stay away from the parents. And tell those people to not leave and offer assistance to get them stuff or they'll die.

Now, the officials and politicians are scrambling back along their ratlines to their keepers, asking for spin instructions to maximally exploit the situation for country-fucking but narrow political agendas rather than genuine public welfare. No wonder it all looks like a goddam Chinese Fire Drill rather than responsible people working together to do the right thing.
