States are continuing to keep attractions open like the mayor in Jaws, but a national lockdown of all non-essential congregation would be the best way to curtail the epidemic. Close down all parks, beaches, bars, restaurants, churches, schools, and non-essential businesses. Yes, there will be an economic hit, but that will still happen if the epidemic lasts months and reinfections, resurgences, and mutations of the virus happen. So it's really a matter of reducing the death toll by keeping any non-essential, non-web-base business short down.

We only need to lockdown those over 65 or at least over 80.

Spring breakers are partying and bringing the virus home to their parents and grandparents.

No.

The old hockey stick graph.

A lot of internet scientists mistake the steep part of a natural cycle for the asymptote of disaster.

Quote a talking point and that means exponential growth does not exist anywhere in the universe? That's just dumb. I'll listen to the math and science before any talking point.

What happens when the hockey stick people die? Does it keep hockey stick(ying?). Almost all models are based on how it spreads and then death rate. Once 100k die, it's likely the hockey stick goes away. We could test everyone tomorrow and the death rate likely plummets.

Everyone does need to realize this isn't going to kill the world. Babysitter's grandma passed yesterday 3 days after symptoms. So before someone has some bullshit argument that I don't believe it's real, go fuck yourself, real hard. IT. IS. A. FUCKING. VIRUS! It's like pure retardation has spread across half the population. What the fuck are you going to do without a vaccine or therapeutic drugs? We cannot hide forever. You're a retard, dumbass piece of shit if any of you think that's the solution. I hope the virus gets some of you so we can see less stupidity in the world. Fucking a.

What does that show? 159 cases in the entire state? What does billy Bob in bfe have to worry about?

And I meant long term hiding before some reject, retard comes out of the woodwork. End of April is it. Gonna be riots/looting in major cities if it gets extended beyond that. Might start before then.

A great example of not understanding exponential growth.

Some of the Asian countries have developed protocols to deal with MERS and SARS. South Korea seems like the best example of dealing with the COVID Forever War while still allowing for businesses to continue operating. They do aggressive contact tracing which, frankly, might now be impossible.

I think we "need" the peak if that makes sense, to get rid of the panic around this. S. Korea may be just dragging it out longer. There's a reason we don't have all that many ventilators in the country. You're basically dead once you hit that level. CV-19 or not.

I'm not numb to the tragedy this will cause. My babysitter for the last 5 years lost her last grandparent last night to it. Small town, so we knew her a little bit. Babysitter has a part time job, but we're now not going to use her for a while. Nor will my neighbors that use her. No one can go out. We were all probably worth $500-600/mo for her. Not saying you or anyone in particular, but I think the work from home crowd is totally isolated from the reality of what's going on.

She lost her grandma, but will likely lose another family member or two because of other issues. The mental health issues are going to be devastating. Grief from death is one thing. Death, job loss and emotional stress all combined is a mix of shit that's gonna fuck people up. Not sure you can even physically see a therapist right now. So people gonna pound the bottle and drugs. We'd be better off with people dealing with the death emotions by themselves and not all the other shit that's coming their way....

Every dog has his day. Finally, I'm a hero of the State for having wall chains and plywood pillory in the basement.
