From the thread on the other race-baiting incident:

A thug is a bully who tries to strong-arm they way through life. They often carry and brandish deadly weapons. They have no respect for authority. They usually have a juvenile record and quickly start an adult rap sheet; jail for sure, probably prison before thirty. They steal, rob, burgle, and victimize. They rationalize that their prey shouldn't be so vulnerable and deserve to lose. They're animals who society needs protection from. They usually end up as long term inmates or dead.

Ahmaud Arbery was a thug. This has nothing to do with race except from the point of view of racists.

Just because a man try's to pass off counterfeit currency and then resists getting arrested is no reason for the cops to choke the life out of him, just don't pretend he was an innocent man.

"ust because a man try's to pass off counterfeit currency . .. " Don't you mean 'He was turning his life around and starting a new career in creative finance.'
3   Ceffer   2020 Jun 5, 4:41pm

I didn't realize it took such an extensive criminal record to get into Harvard. It almost makes sense in a strange way, though.
4   MisdemeanorRebel   2020 Jun 5, 4:44pm

However, he's also convicted for using a gun in a robbery, and that makes him a thug.

I'm translating these other charges now.

November 2007, Aggravated Robbery with Deadly Weapon - this is him holding up the Pregnant Woman at gunpoint like the wonderful loving person everybody says he is.
His December 2005 Possession Charge was for more than 4 Grams of an Opiate, Meth, or Ketamine. Given his autopsy, probably Fetanyl.
He has several other PG1s over the years.
Multiple Thefts, also.

This is ONLY Texas. He may very well have records elsewhere or in Minnesota.
5   Ceffer   2020 Jun 5, 4:52pm

Har, Har, they said he left the racist oppressions of Texas to start a 'new life' in Minnesota.
6   richwicks   2020 Jun 5, 4:55pm

In response to NoCoupForYou

Looks like his last conviction was on 11/27/2007 - and he served (up to) a 5 year sentence, that would be 7, maybe 8 years ago, and it doesn't seem like he's been in trouble during that time.

So certainly at one time he was a thug, and he may STILL have been a thug evading the police - but what was his last crime?

I've hit a counterfeit note or two in my time, I think. You know what I did with it?

I spent it.

I didn't create the fake note, so why should I get stuck with it?

And I'm not certain it was counterfeit either, but it felt very much more like paper than the cloth US dollars are actually made from.

Yeah, way back in 2013 he got out, a whole few years before he's trying to push counterfeit bills with a bloodstream full of opiates and amphetamines. Remember, this is just Texas.

He wore a blue uniform and drove a truck with several other men to a woman's house, demanded entry posing as an officer. They ransacked the house for several minutes, didn't find any easy pawnable valuables, and took off.

Fortunately, a neighbor called in a report of Black Men in the Neighborhood, so cops were able to arrest him.

White Privilege may have saved that woman's life.

Or, the God of Cosmic Ironic justice struck again.

Was your bloodstream at 4x the level of fentanyl that would kill an ordinary person, plus speed? OK a monster Speedball dose? While you were trying to get rid of a counterfeit bill?

"Holy shit, an almost 50 year old man on a speedball, after physical exertion, had a heart attack while police were restraining him. The Police are responsible for killing him!"

What would you do if clerk called you out on it? Escalate to the point of police arriving to the scene and then resisting arrest? It makes no sense to any sane person who's made an honest mistake. Or semi-honest, as in your case.

I would have feigned surprise and used another bill.

My counterfeit was only a dollar bill. I think I've run across two of them. It just felt wrong.

Is that what happened?

I certainly wouldn't have escalated it and I would have used another bill. But I would like the original bill that I was told was counterfeit to be returned.

I don't trust the government not to lie when it is in their advantage to lie.

Did Jeffrey Epstein kill himself?

That's your government.

As I understand he tried to buy a pack of cigarettes with $20 and when called out on it being counterfeit refused to exchange back. The details will be revealed in court, I'm sure.

But think about it: a guy with drugs in his system and criminal record longer than his arm weighs the downside of not being able to buy a pack of cigs (or even losing $20) against encounter with police, choses the latter and then escalates by refusing to exit his car. How the fuck is this sane?

I didn't know that happened - that is if that happened. If he did indeed do that, clearly he is a criminal who knew he was passing off a fake bill.

Regardless, this Floyd was handcuffed, didn't pose a threat to the officers and didn't need to have somebody knee in their throat. He didn't appear to do much resisting either. I think the police used excessive force, and killed the man by accident or maybe even intentionally.

It was literally a dollar bill.

And I don't know if it was counterfeit or not. I think I have run across two of them in my lifetime.

I never MADE the bill either.

Enough to make loading hime into the car impossible. So they used non-deadly force option as prescribed by MPD manual.
19   MisdemeanorRebel   2020 Jun 5, 5:57pm

Even if my veins were loaded with drugs and I was high as a kite, I wouldn't press the issue with the clerk. I'd be like, Damn, that's my only bill, sorry man, oh well, and get my ass back off the street as fast as possible. I also wouldn't be driving.

Nope, but you don't need to be a Lawyer to the Google what "PG" means as it relates to a criminal charge.

Allegedly trying to pass off a counterfeit bill. From CNN:

The 46-year-old man died Monday night after an officer held him pinned to the ground with a knee on his neck.

The encounter began Monday around 8 p.m. when an employee at the Cup Foods convenience store called police to say that a customer later identified as Floyd had tried to use a counterfeit $20 bill to buy cigarettes.

Yep, it's like all those other cases: Rodney King (PCP), Brown (Robbed convenience store for blunts, got high, Punched Wilson), Trayvon Martin (high on Lean/Sizzurp, ambushed Zimmerman with a piece of Curb), Eric Garner (major league aggressive asshole, got himself fired from a cushy Parks job for fighting with coworkers).

Media makes it look like it was some dude just minding their own business, turns out they were high and/or criminal past, and in process of criminal behavior

Upside down world.

Anecdotal only, but my apolitical to left leaning wife and a few of her girlfriends are absolutely shocked and sickened by all of the riots and prostrating over Floyd.

I’m not in favor of cops kneeling on a guy’s neck, but I wasn’t there.

But, he didn’t die of asphyxiation.

Tonight in Santa Cruz I saw a ton of cars honking with signs, an organized protest by car.

I looked over at one honking, a young blond female in a Prius.

If she went for a walk at night in Riviera Beach Florida she would not last long before she was scooped up and gangbanged in some crack house by guys who “could be Obama’s son.” If she were lucky she’d survive it.

They said his heart stopped, possibly because he couldn't breathe? That would be asphyxiation.

Lol, my mom wanted a doctor and a lawyer. I got into medical school but couldn't bear to sign for the loans. Just wasn't into it. My brother is a lawyer, so she got some of what she wanted.

If so, they must have known each other.

Agreed. Also, he may have known that "Mr. Turned his Life Around from Pointing a Gun at a Pregnant Woman in front of her Child" had fallen off the wagon.

I won't be surprised if we find out the bouncer lost his job in the recent past, before the incident.

God knows the Fed prints enough of them. I have held and counted a lot of money in a former career and never came across an authentic fake bill.

Maybe George Floyd was a misunderstood man that was on the straight and narrow and was victimized by someone who gave him a fake $20. His victimization went further when he was apprehended by the police and arrested. We don't know what went down before the awful video of a human being slowly being choked to death.

No excuse for brutal, bully cops. No excuse for lawless victimizing thugs.

He was a bouncer for some club before the covid. He also dabbled in gangster rap as "Big Floyd"

Apparently Floyd worked inside security and the other guy worked outside, it is possible that they never talked to each other according to the club owner.

Did you hear that two of the other officers were basically trainees with essentially no experience?

That doesn’t excuse police brutality but it does give insight into their poor decisions.

What a life to celebrate!

8 minutes and 46 seconds of silence--I'll bet that got boring after 8 seconds.
