The new highly contagious strain is raging through the LA area right now. All around me people are dropping like pole axed steers as the Covid grabs them in its crusty grip. I’ve gotta be immune as there’s exposure all over and I’m fine.
Maybe I’m just lucky? I don’t know. Not gonna change my life because of this. Still not wearing a mask (unless I go somewhere it’s mandatory). Still not using hand sanitizer or washing excessively. Never gonna get no vaccine.

I guess people are more worried about severe vaccine side effects than getting actual virus because with the latter there is that element of fate while with the former it's more like "fuck, I did it to myself by taking that fucking vaccine and now I'm a fuckin cripple". If the actual virus was more dangerous, like, say, Polio, the vaccine is a no-brainer. For people over 70 it is a no-brainer.

If I was 30 and healthy, I would absolutely not take the vaccine. I don’t think I’d even take steps to avoid getting Covid, although I’d still exercise caution around around my elderly parents and so forth. I’d also follow rules of business I choose to patronize.

I don’t know exactly where the age/health cutoff is where I’d take the vaccine vs not take it, but I guess that’s a personal decision.

It's by far not that easy. Sure you may calculate that your odds by the combined probability of contracting and dying form Covid are higher than taking the vaccine - which may or may not protect you - and dying from side effects. However many of the side effects may be long term and affect your quality of life significantly so that you may rather choose the very small risk of death by infection. Sure if you're very old and they aren't crippling it's a decent bet but I would set the cut off date not lower than 70, maybe 60 for people with poor health. If you're in your 50s or below and in decent health your odds of contracting and dying may be lower than your odds of serious side effects. Also you should take the antibody test, and a really good one at that. Because if you already have acquired immunity taking the vaccine would be the worst bet. I see this no better or worse than the flu vaccine, probably though with higher protection as CVs don't mutate as frequently as the flu virus.

I'd say they both are low enough to not be afraid of either, but since vaccination requires extra effort while there is a chance of never contracting the virus, it's prudent to stay away from the vacc for the group defined above.

182 people less than 18 have died.
8,110 people between 19 and 44 have died.
52,182 people between 45 and 64 have died.
The rest were over 65

3% of these people had no KNOWN comorbidities. 97% were already sick with something else. Covid was just the nail in the coffin.

Nothing unfounded here, the only thing unfounded is the vaccine. Usually it takes years to study vaccine effects, if not decades. Obviously we don't have the time here so the emergency authorization is good for all of those that need and want it. But make no mistake, those taking the vaccine are guinea pigs, supposedly for their own and greater good. Truth is we don't know how it stacks up against eventual herd immunity. That being said, I don't think it's a bad idea to vaccinate front-line workers and elderly and high-risk patients if they can take vaccines safely, and of course all of those who "want". Forcing anybody to take it is fucking insanity and sheer terror.

By your own numbers it’s safe. You cited 180 deaths out of tens of millions of already administered vaccines. I think even that number is suspect but it doesn’t matter because we’re taking .0001% deaths vs .00001%.
