Property taxes that fund the schools should not fund those outside the school district said taxed property is in, tho.

So here we are in California, with shitty schools all over and extremely high sales and income taxesI think that the worst schools (i.e.: schools in areas with the worst parents) actually get more state funding in the form of extra funding for extra programs. The few remaining good schools (Palo Alto, Cupertino) scramble to make up the difference by begging the parents.
It used to be that way in California, but a bunch of Hispanics said that wasn't fair, because then poor areas had poor schools. So there was a lawsuit called Serrano vs Priest and the result was that California property taxes had to go to the state and then Sacramento would distribute money "evenly" to school districts.
