If you like biking, I strongly suggest you look up Sheldon Brown

I checked out that Sheldon Brown link. I went to the section on drum brakes. I need to replace my rear Sturmey- Archer drum insert on the back wheel of my Blue Mountain bike, but I cannot find anyone anywhere who has the 70mm version in stock. Lots of 90mm, but I cannot use that. Drum brakes are great because they still work when it is raining or riding through some water.

?

I didn't even know there were such a thing as rear drum breaks still. I had the type that went on an old Schwinn. I remember riding the breaks down a hill for that hub to get toasty hot. Hot enough it would stop working.

Speaking of my old bike - holy crap, they are still making them:

Mine was green though.

I appreciate the link, but that site does not sell. It just describes the product.

Well, they have a Contact form (tedious I know), and here is their "catalog" presumably of products they sell:

https://www.sturmey-archer.com/en/catalogue

They could probably give you an authorized reseller. If you're replacing a hub you need to have the wheel rebuilt, and AGAIN - do not attempt to do this yourself. This is an office you can contact in North America:

Sturmey-Archer North America
952 School Street #409
94559-2824 Napa CA
USA

Tel: +1 (707) 259-6700
Fax: +1 (707) 259-6710

I mean - who really calls them? Nobody. That phone line doesn't ring more than once a week I bet. If you ring them up, and just explain you're looking to buy X, I bet they'll accommodate.

"Schiff proposes to change designations from 'Intelligence Agencies' to 'What It Is Agencies' to keep from offending or intimidating printing press diploma applicants. Any White male who calls out for "diversity" should be slapped back with "Then why don't you resign so a person of color can have your job?"

"Sheep and collaborators of the lowest order"
A rocker in Providence responds to my riff on "Pure Blooded"

From a subscriber to News from Underground:

I know exactly what you mean. I've been a musician/composer here in Providence Rhode Island since the 80s with some amount of success staging my operas etc.

But now? I see my friends and colleagues starting up to play out again, performing in various venues. But they seem all too happy to comply with the great agenda, the Great Reset. They go on Facebook to advertise their performances, adding that it's "Covid-Safe." And the guidelines include mandatory vaccines and, fucking AND the wearing of masks.

These people are sheep. Sheep and collaborators of the lowest order. I'm ashamed, also amazed that many of these folks were my friends, people that I looked up to and respected. No longer. I would call them out but so far I haven't, thinking that an exchange on Facebook is not gonna solve anything. So I'm staying mum for now but monitoring the situation.

I'm trying not to close my heart and mind entirely to my fellow man. But this is outrageous and it will be a long fucking time before this equation gets balanced.

Keep up the great work and best of luck to you!

Haha. I'm in the Silly Con Valley. "The smartest people in the world" - over the last 18 months, the worst thing I've lost is respect for "smart people".

The people I thought were brilliant are anything but. They are good at their jobs, but they can't think worth shit. I cannot express in words how disconcerting this last 18 months have been for me. I'm in shock still. People don't think, they're apparently meat robots, programmed. I'm absolutely aghast, floored, at how stupid smart people are.

People I work with are amazing at their brilliance at their job, but once they clock out, they are a fucking stupid as pig shit. It's amazing they don't use their intellect outside of their job. It's absolutely shocking. These are smart, creative, brilliant people who think that unvaccinated people pose a risk to vaccinated people. How is is they forgot basic biochemistry and I retain it?

I study propaganda for fun, but good lord, I do not understand it. It's said Edward Bernays had complete contempt for people, that he was very arrogant and despised "the common man" - I'm beginning to understand this point of view. It does really seem I live among a herd of sheep and not what I would consider a basic human being.

I'm either wrong in this assessment, or it's a duty to uplift people into humanity. For now, I think I have a duty but I do wonder if I'm wrong.

It wasn't like this always. California was SANE at one point.

Agreed. And Cali girls used to be hot and fuckable. Before the sjws corrupted all that natural beauty. I've only been here a bit over 20 years so I can't speak to prior, but from experience CA and SV peaked with the release of RHCPs Californication 99, maintained the peak for a few years and then started its harsh decline. I'm sure the 60s-90s were great as well.

18 months? Try putting up with it ALL YOUR LIFE (I was born and raised in Silicon Valley and have lived and worked here all this time)

I moved here in the late 1990's, and it's always been weird and strange for me. THAT I could deal with. I've run into liberatarians, liberals, anarchists, atheists, SUPER religious from bizarre religions - I can go on to more unusual things..

I was fine with that.

But it turns out, something like 80%+ of the people I thought were smart, quirky, weird, and creative - are not smart at all. They are as fucking dumb as anybody when it comes to something as simple to understand as this "pandemic".

We gathered here to MAKE THE FUCKING INTERNET. This system is the most powerful research and knowledge system EVER made by mankind. Not only could you talk to an Iraqi in Iraq in 2005 or a Libyan in Libya in 2012 - you can do things like look up what the mortality rate of smallpox was, or how likely you were to be maimed for life by Polio.

We are not in a pandemic. Not even fucking close. Imagine this - a company is told "there's a 1 in 1000 chance of each of your employees dying over the next year unless they all work remotely" - who the fuck would have agreed to that? Turns out, most of Silly Con Valley, and the employees and the people who lost their job, fucking defend it.

This is trivial math. This isn't the NIGHTMARE course of statistics I took in my Senior year.

It is shocking how stupid smart people are. They do their job well, and that's as far as they think. It's bizarre.

I swear to go 99% of blue collar workers just figured out "this education shit is just bullshit, I want to get a job" and are a fuckload smarter than the PhD's here. Some blue collar worker I run into, they know the government is full of shit, but people who pride themselves on their suspicion and intelligence - they have no clue. It's weird. The last 9 months has completely changed my view on "smart people".
