How Russian energy giant Gazprom lost $300bn.

It was not too long ago that Gazprom, Russia’s state-controlled energy conglomerate, was one of the Kremlin’s most powerful weapons. But those days now seem like a distant memory. Today, Gazprom is a financial shadow of its former self.

The speed of Gazprom’s decline is breathtaking. At its peak in May 2008, the company’s market capitalisation reached $367bn (£237bn), making it one of world’s most valuable companies, according to a survey compiled by the Financial Times. Only fellow Exxonmobile and PetroChina were worth more. Gazprom’s deputy chair Alexander Medvedev repeatedly predicted that within a decade the Russian energy giant could be worth $1 trillion.

That prediction now seems foolhardy. Since 2008, Gazprom’s value has plummeted. In early August it had a market capitalisation of $51bn – losing more than $300bn. No company among the world’s top 5,000 has suffered a bigger collapse, Bloomberg Business News reported in April 2014, and by the end of the year net income had fallen by an astonishing 86%.

Though share prices have rallied slightly since, indicators suggest Gazprom has further to fall. Lingering uncertainty raises questions about whether it can survive, with production continuing to tumble downward.

So what happened? Why is a company with the world’s largest gas reserves, operating in a country bordering China and the European Union – two of the world’s top energy consumers, performing so badly?"

Just demonstrate I'm incorrect. You're again wasting your time insulting me.
I've done it, and repeatedly.

Quote me. We're going back to this.

Cutting up responses to change the meaning is purposeless.

Quote me - when you do, provide a link to my quote so the entire context can bee seen. I predicted your reaction, previously I said:

Show your dedicated post, quote it, provide links. I expect you to point to any random post, and dishonestly claim it proves something it doesn't. This is why I'm saying "quote it", if you do - I expect you to lie about the quotes.

The bold is added. This is what you just did.

There is no point of me wasting my time with you if you are willing to lie to me, and you have demonstrated repeatedly your willingness to deceive, to lie, to misdirect.

To the best of my efforts I am not consciously dishonest. I can be fooled, tricked, I can be maneuvered into repeating what I incorrectly believe to be true information. I recognize I can be tricked, you don't appear to have this minor ability. You insist that whatever you believe must be true, but if I poke just a little, just a scratch, you realize you don't know how you've come to "your" beliefs, but you are very angry at ME for pointing this out. I'm not the one programming you but you blame me for pointing it out.

I can can be tricked as well. Here's something I used to believe:

original link

That's what Joseph Goebbels called "The Big Lie". It's a lie that is so large, that you cannot believe that the person telling it would degrade and prostitute themselves to such a degree as to tell such a lie. Such a lie would lead to a war, killing at minimum thousands, perhaps 100's of thousands. Who would possibly be such a fucking horrible human being as to do that?

Well, the daughter of the Kuwaiti ambassador would.

There's no discipline in being dishonest. You might despise me, but I'm trying to help you. I'm taking it on faith you want to actually be correct. I'm showing you, repeatedly, how you're deceived. I know it's not pleasant. I reeled for years when I realized how deceived I had been by "mainstream news" - but that was 20 years ago. What I'm rather shocked by is that despite how fucking stupid I am, almost everybody around me is even stupider. They don't even care about being lied to or being deceived, but they react terribly when they are shown they've been tricked.

Propaganda, it's fascinating. And it's also goddamned evil. Makes good men support evil things.

You are cheering on a war in Ukraine that, if Russia so chooses, can be ended with a nuclear strike after the US overthrew that nation an installed cutout puppets as leaders. I just want the goddamned thing to end and I know how it will end. Russia is still a nuclear super power, Ukraine has no chance. The absolute demand is there, and it will be met - just a question of how many people will purposely die before its met.

Oh please, this is just another ad-hominem attack.

You make false claims constantly.

What I HEAR, and I may be misinformed, is that the Ukrainians did it - specifically the Nazi factions of the Ukrainian military which are also fiercely anti-Russian and they targeted Russian sympathizers - that THOSE were the victims. Further evidence to this as being possibly true is that the mayor of Bucha made no mention of the massacre immediately after the Russian military force left it, that Zelenskyy is forcing people to fight and won't allow them to leave, and the cherry on top is our "news" media claims it happened.

Our media ONLY lies. Ghost of Kiev/Kyiv, the massacre on Snake Island? Zelenskyy fighting in the trenches? Our news media lies blatantly. They have no credibility, and this is their claim, and because they're such fucking liars, I have to assume they are lying again. They are war whores. It's a sad state but when I assume our "news" media is lying I'm more than 90% correct at this point.

mostly reader says
Be specific, dear senile.

Again for the 10th time, insulting me doesn't change my mind. It's pointless. I can't be offended by a person I don't respect, and honestly, I feel contempt for you. I think you're not just uninformed, I think you're actively dishonest. I think you're an active liar, who knows they are lying.

What purpose does this war have for Russia? If we are to trust them (and perhaps we should not), it's to prevent Ukraine from housing NATO weaponry and to end the bombing in Eastern Ukraine. Are these unreasonable demands?

If not, Ukraine can agree to them and if the war continues regardless THEN we can discuss the morality of this stupid, pointless, fruitless war.

Those are Russia's stated demands and the cause of this war, remove them, and we'll see if Russia is lying about their motivation for war.

I don't know if Russia is a bunch of scurrilous lying shit, but I know the US lies about ALL of their wars. Find that weapons of mass destruction program yet? If that was a mistake, a valid mistake, it would be a huge error of incompetence and there would have been a fallout of people who made that "mistake" - but that never happened, instead their cunt wives helped overthrow Ukraine.

I'm tired of this empire of lies, and I will actively work against it, but legally of course.

If my government wants me to trust them, they can stop lying to me, but they won't - why is that? My only conclusion is that they have to lie to get support, and either you're part of that or a victim to it.

British Petroleum poisoned the entire Gulf of Mexico.

This is true to an extent. It was overblown to a large amount though. Nature was fucked with, but it wasn't as bad as pictured by the media as someone that frequents the Gulf and Panhandle. It was a slow news cycle and they needed clicks. Yes, it f'd some things up, but it wasn't as bad as it was made out to be. Not a BP stock holder either.

Oil, gasses and natural chemicals have leaked onto land and water naturally forever. I also think Gazprom will be fine. Need to keep the lights and heat on in that part of the world. The US for sure isn't producing it even though we could.

I'll have to repeat myself.

Start of copy/paste:
---
Oh fuck. I don't remember another time in which everyone who matters, on both sides of the isle, conformist or non-conformist, pro-war or pro-peace, would be so unanimous. That includes Donald Trump.

Al Jazeera: "Bucha killings: ‘The world cannot be tricked anymore’"
FOX News: "Atrocities in Bucha, Ukraine, appear 'premeditated,' 'deliberate': senior US defense official"
CNN: "The horrors of Putin's invasion of Ukraine are increasingly coming to light" and many more
The Guardian: "Satellite images of corpses in Bucha contradict Russian claims"
Times of Israel: "Refuting Moscow’s claim, satellite images show bodies were in Bucha for weeks"
BBC: "Satellite image of bodies site contradicts Russian claims"
The Times (UK): "Satellite images show bodies in Bucha before Russian retreat"
The Telegraph (UK): " Satellite images of Bucha dead could provide ‘irrefutable’ proof of Russian war crimes "
Reuters: "Satellite images show civilian deaths in Ukraine town while it was in Russian hands"

Is that all? No, it isn't. Donald Trump also described Moscow's activities in Kyiv as "genocide." That was before Bucha even.

"Our governments"? The ONLY major players that push the line which you are pushing are... drum roll... Russia and China! That's about it!

To truly believe in it, you'd have to believe that:

1) Germany falsified satellite images, and in a way which wasn't exposed
2) Every major outlet outside of Russia and China - US, UK, Canada, Israel, Germany, Netherlands - are all in on it.
3) All major characters, including Trump, are all in on it as well
4) The false flag operation of this scale can be implemented in a few hours and without major leaks
5) (drum roll) Russia and China are telling the truth!
---
End of copy/paste

I of course do not for a moment think that you believe that. I think that you are a propaganda troll, as dishonest as they get. You crossed the line between humans and subhumans on the way down long ago.

I'm also waiting for the likes of you to produce "air traffic controller Carlos" who saw it all.

Here's what that contains:

mostly reader says
This would be a 101 on how to detect one of the propaganda techniques.

Intro: most real-life situations have a large number of variables and moving parts. It's not always clear how they fit multi-dimentional world into a coherent picture based on incomplete and ambiguous data. Slight mis-interpretation of data points - a little bit to the right here, a little bit upwards there, skip this data point because it doesn't fit, stretch another one because it supports - and you get one pictures. Change the direction in which you move the points - and you get a different picture, which may also be consistent, yet be in conflict with the first one. That's what this technique does, it paints the picture by slight manipulation of data points. Lying by omission is quite popular with this approach.

In other words, just your bullshit - nothing I've said.

I don't care what YOU have to say. I consider you dishonest. I consider anything you write to be something to be disregarded at this point. You have no credibility with me. I don't consider you intellectually honest. I ignore all your opinions at this point.

Again, I just ignore you. I'll engage with you, but with a minimum of effort and by the way, that was YOUR quote. You wanted something else, you could have quoted it. You point to nonsense when asked to provide data. You do this every time. I'm just demonstrating it's nonsense.

I would agree, this is going nowhere. I will make the attempt to understand another person's point but that's only possible if they can explain their point of view.

My point of view is our media and government have lied about every single war since Iraq, and before of course. I don't see any reason to trust these fuckers for one. Second our media has omitted critical data about this conflict and they are using very obvious and blatant propaganda techniques. How many times have you heard "unprovoked attack on Ukraine?" - it's like "weapons of mass destruction", or "Qaddafi is about to cause a humanitarian crisis" or "Assad is gassing his own people". These are demonstrable lies.

My government lies because it has to lie. If Americans realized what was actually going on, they wouldn't support it. This is why they MUST be lied to in order to gain support, and every fucking time we're lied to, it leads to a catastrophe for this nation, 100's of thousands of deaths, and a few fucking assholes use the chaos to enrich themselves.

The US is sending 40 BILLION dollars to Ukraine - how much of that money is just going to come back to the US in terms of bribes, and payoffs? The US doesn't do aid, they are ripping off the country and then laundering the cash, then giving it back to themselves. This is clearly what Hunter Biden is doing.

And our media doesn't do fucking any work at all to find out what is going.

With this level of corruption, it's difficult to imagine the US is in the right. If Putin was doing this shit, they'd be be telling us.

Working on it:

Sempra Energy (the United States) has announced that it will sell about 2.25 million tons of liquefied natural gas per year (LNG) to the largest German electricity producer RWE AG, which is trying to abandon natural gas from the Russian Federation.

"RWE Supply & Trading and Sempra Infrastructure have signed a major liquefied natural gas supply agreement for RWE's European utility portfolio for the Port Arthur LNG project in Texas, U.S. The conditions provide for negotiations and the completion of the final 15-year contract for the supply and procurement of approximately 2.25 million tons of LNG per year," the company said.

The volumes will be delivered by RWE anywhere in the world - as an example to the planned LNG import capacity in Germany.

"As RWE we are thrilled to join forces with Sempra Infrastructure, one of the leading LNG infrastructure companies in the U.S. This partnership will help diversify the RWE and German gas supply portfolio and thus improve supply security in Europe on a long-term basis," said RWE Supply & Trading CEO.

Jesus - energy is a fungible commodity. Why does nobody understand this?

It means that LNG from Russia is identical to LNG from Syria, Libya, or Canada.

All this results in is shifting markets. China and India will buy LNG from Russia at a lower cost, and Europe will pay a transportation fee and whatever additional amount the US exports want to rape them with.

People are so fucking stupid in this regard, and we've seen it before. What's going to happen is some smart entrepreneur criminal that has paid off the right assholes in government oversight will import Russian LNG. That's what happened in Iraqi, what's happened in Syria when ISIS was moving oil with a convoy to Turkey. All this is doing is creating a black market, something Russia is well acquainted with.

This is just like the fucking drug war, the government itself is the largest drug runner in the nation. "Drug lords" are just their competition. It just increases prices.

If Russian energy were driven to ZERO, and sanctions were 100% effective, and the energy was only available to Russia, Russia will experience a massive boom in their economy, because what really allows us to live is just energy. I kind of hope this happens. The cost of ALL consumer materials is directly proportional to the energy needed to produce the consumer material.

"Gazprom" to cut gas exports to Europe via NS-1 by 40%

Today, at an operational meeting at PJSC Gazprom, information on the operating mode of the Portovaya compressor station (CS) was considered.

Due to the untimely return of gas compressor units from repair by Siemens (Germany), the exhaustion of the overhaul life of the GCU and the identified technical malfunctions of the engines (an order from Rostekhnadzor on a temporary ban on activities was received), only three gas compressor units can currently be used at the Portovaya CS.

Gas supplies to the Nord Stream gas pipeline can currently be provided in the amount of up to 100 million cubic meters. m per day (with a planned volume of 167 million cubic meters per day).

https://t.me/gazprom/763

WTF? They have abundance of oil, don't they? Couldn't they replace these compressor units they can't produce themselves with oil? No? Why not? One cunt just said that oil replaces EVERYTHING!

The body of 61-year-old Voronov was found on the territory of his site in the cottage village of Marine Terraces near the Gulf of Finland. The man was lying in the pool with a shot through his head, and law enforcement officers found a traumatic pistol nearby. To whom it belonged is not yet clear.

Yuri Voronov is the general director of the transport company Astra Shipping, which, among other things, worked on the Arctic contracts of Gazprom. According to the businessman's wife, he went to the Leningrad region on July 1, and before leaving he had a conflict with business partners due to the loss of money.

This is the fifth death in six months associated with the Russian gas industry. In winter, the body of Leonid Shulman, head of the Gazprom invest transport service, and then Alexander Tyulakov, who worked at Gazprom as deputy general director of the Unified Settlement Center, was found in the Leningrad Region. Interestingly, the corpses of both leaders were found in the same village near St. Petersburg - Leninsky.

In April, the bodies of Vladislav Avaev, a former vice president of Gazprombank, as well as his wife and daughter, were found in a Moscow apartment. A little later, in a similar way, the former Novatek top manager Sergei Protosenya, his wife and daughter were found dead in Spain.

Death of many Russian and Ukrainian oligarchs gangland style is strange, but not much info on it. A Ukrainian oligarch killed in London, two Russian oligarchs killed with families, claimed 'suicide'. I wonder if it is some kind of purge of Globalists by Russia, but nobody seems to have any theories on this.

Nice try, but one death of unrelated to Gazprom guy doesn't suddenly make the string of Gazprom-related deaths into something else. The fact remains: Gazprom-related guys are dropping like flies recently.

The largest Austrian gas storage operator RAG Austria AG has finally taken over the management of the country's largest gas storage facility "Haidach" in Salzburg, which was previously managed by the Russian company "Gazprom".

This is reported by Kroner Zeitung.

The Austrian government made the decision to take away the Heydach storage facility from Gazprom due to the lack of blue fuel. Austrian legislation allows the use of all storage facilities in the country in the event of a gas shortage, while the Russian company kept Haydach empty.

As the Minister of Climate Protection of Austria, Leonore Gewessler, reported on Tuesday, RAG Austria AG has already started booking gas storage capacity, and will start filling it from August 1.

"Filled gas storages are our insurance for the coming winter. Therefore, it is first of all important that all storages in Austria are full," she said.

The chairman of RAG Austria AG, Markus Mitteregger, agreed with the minister: "It is now clear how fundamental energy storage is for a secure energy supply throughout the year in Austria and Central Europe. Large volumes and seasonal storage in our underground storage facilities are an important element in ensuring this today and tomorrow." .

Back in May, he warned the Chancellor of Austria that the storage facility in Salzburg would be handed over to other suppliers if Gazprom did not fill it with gas.

Oh no, how is Gazprom going to make any money at all selling only 20% of what it did just a few months ago.

Ahhhhhhhhh, those nice Western nations already came up with the answer...simply don't let them buy anything with the money they give for the gas.

Prices could also triple putting them back to square one with the amount of currency they get from the Europeans.

The Russians have also lowered their interest rate below where it was before Feb. 24, but the Rouble is still up against the dollar, which is up vs pretty much every other currency. The Europeans raised their interest rate to zero percent, but the ECB is still buying bonds like crazy, so basically they are just printing the money with no plans to stop the printing.

Yes, losing market share is a GOOD thing!!! Ask any business. The Big Three would be especially happy to chime in.

Gazprom seems in better shape than the European energy companies.

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2022-07-18/europe-power-firms-debt-soars-to-1-7-trillion-on-energy-crisis

There is no hope of repaying this. They doubled their debt in 2 fucking years. This added an extra $850 billion in debt. Yes, this is after they have increased the cost for energy to where it is just not economical for a large swath of the populous. They are looking at an escalating amount of debt and even higher prices across the continent including the UK.

Only 27 UK energy companies have gone bust so far this year
