I think some candidates are designed to run for the sole purpose of harming their opponents, as they have no realistic chance of winning. A black opponent can attack in a certain way, a womyn in a different way, a gay in yet another. By stacking a carefully chosen collection of candidates, maybe it pushes the opponent into taking / not taking certain positions, which are ultimately weaved into the political master plan.

These 2 womyn might be running as a way to splinter support of certain female voters who support Trump.

Trump had 96% republicans support. Basically everyone except the establishment. None of that is going away and neither is his independent vote. OTOH Abrams would pull away a portion of the socialist vote.
