Note that the anger some of the board of supervisors have is related to Villanueva actively pursuing the improvement of quality of life issues including FORCING the hand of corrupt Democrats on the LA City Council to deal with that City’s miserable homeless situation that was created staring in 2013 by corrupt mayor Eric Garcetti.

Also note that in the prior corruption examples cited, the system worked exactly as it was supposed to… corrupt and mentally damaged prior Sheriff Lee Baca and his very evil and power hungry undersheriff Paul Tanaka were both investigated, arrested, charged and convicted. Both currently sit in prison.

The corrupt Democrats on the board of supervisors want to strip voters of their power to elect a sheriff and bring the position under their control ONLY for political purposes.

"If passed, this illegal motion would allow corrupt supervisors to intimidate sheriffs from carrying out their official duties to investigate crime,'' the representative told The Times. Creating a pathway for politicians to remove a duly elected sheriff is a recipe for corruption, particularly when cause' is whatever suits their political agenda.''

Supervisor Janice Hahn told The Times she plans to support the motion -- giving it the three votes needed for approval on Tuesday. Supervisor Kathryn Barger told the paper she questioned the motivations of the proposal, questioning why it only targets the sheriff and not other county leadership positions.

Villanueva has repeatedly clashed with the board during his time in office, accusing members of defunding his agency at the expense of public safety, while also rebuffing subpoenas to appear before the county's Civilian Oversight Commission.

The motion does not mention Villanueva by name, but states, "The current sheriff has been openly hostile to oversight and transparency and has tested the functionality of existing oversight structures by consistently resisting and obstructing these systems of checks and balances.''

The motion also refers to previous sheriffs Lee Baca, who was sent to federal prison on corruption charges, and Peter Pitchess, who resisted any involvement in the first internal investigation of deputy gangs from outside
the department.''

I would think that the Office of Sheriff is a Constitutional Officer, and the State Constitution says the Office of Sheriff MUST be elected. Even in California.

Dems know police will always be conservative, and will always oppose demshit policies. This seems like an attempt to control them, as they cannot allow any red in their blue city.

But the mirage called Hollywood is not the Southland’s reality at all. In fact, greater Los Angeles is a hard-edged, multi-dimensional city of 4 million and county of 10 million, including satellite cities Long Beach, Santa Clarita, and Santa Monica. In El Monte warehouses and South Gate steel yards Korean boss men bark orders and pay wages in cash on the loading dock. And better to hire hardworking braceros who never had it so good in Oaxaca than bummed-out, low-caste US natives on W-2s with medical benefits.

A vast hive of heavy capital, warehouses, and assembly plants moves food, commodities, and finished things around the US and for that matter, the entire planet. In endless containers, on ten-lane highways, on railroads, ships, and cargo planes, day-and-night, Los Angeles is a unique global hub and Pacific entrepot. Much of the city is transient, without roots: foreign-born, with little or no English, and living in distinct ethnic enclaves lacking civic disposition.

Formerly middle-income neighborhoods with working families, greenery and yards — maybe a few swimming pools — have become expensive islands amid a concrete and asphalt stew. Affordable housing means bumpy streets, trashy mini-malls, aged tract houses and cheap stucco fourplexes sprawled in every direction. Taxpayers are selling property, fleeing the state, and the residents who remain are apprehensive.

They don't seem to say why though.

It is so that she can pay a tiny fine and have her ethics violations swept away before the Republicans can do a thorough investigation.

Likely for the free use of the "Tax the Rich" gown and the free tickets to that $30,000 per seat gala. Most will see that as minor and thus a political witch hunt so nothing of note will occur. A real investigation would be to look into how AOC acquired her $1.5 million net worth, but that would put all the other grifters in the spotlight, so no way.
