When I was in New Orleans, I didn't have a lot of dough so I worked out at the relatively inexpensive YMCA. The gays know each other and know who isn't through their alleged gaydar. I was never approached or bothered, but I remember the intersection of gay bars in the French Quarter during Mardi Gras, and I saw a bunch of the YMCA muscle heads that I always saw working out hanging off the balconies.
